HPT before blood test???

Hi Girls,

I'm thinking about taking a HPT the day before going in for the blood test and wanted to ask if anyone has some info to share about how accurate I can expect that test to be??? I know I've read that HCG trigger can cause a false positive HPT but wondering if anyone out there has done the test and gotten positive/positive?? Let me know if you can share your experience!! Hi MMC

I have been told that the HCG jab you have before egg collection stays in your blood for 10-14 days maximum. As long as you are out of this time frame then you will be fine.

I have HCG jab on 26th Feb and started testing on 19th March and got a faint positive and then tested every day until today which is official test day and by last wednesday it was a proper positive.

Some people like to leave it as long as possible to hang onto the possibility that they could be pregnant but I'm the opposite i just need to know - i am so impatient.

PS I find the best ones are the clearblue ones as they can predict up to four days before your period would be due.

I took an HPT twice before I went in and both were clearly a BFN. Then my beta # was fine and I'm PG w/ twins. I do not trust them at all that early but couldn't resist it either! If you get a HPT that says it's a BFN, jsut don't take it literally. It sounds like if you get a BFP that close to Beta day that it's usually right though.

I took a HPT 1 day before my beta test and it was positive and I had a positive from blood test. but I also took one 4 days before blood test and it was negative. so don't do it too early!

My clinic don't do blood tests so we were told to do a HPT 14 days after transfer. I did one 12 days after and it came up +ve straight away!

HPT did not work for me...I took 6 of them...One on the day I went to get my blood draw....I was sure I was NOT pregnant...In fact, it was a Sunday and I thought I am going to stop my meds and drink coffee cause I knew I was not pregnant. WELL....I was wrong....So, my story goes that I got so upset for now reason. THE HPT's are EVIL!!!
