4th attempt EC this Friday

Post by sam1 »

Hello all,

Just wanted to share what's happening with you. Sometimes its nice to write it down! I dont go on much about it with friends or folk around me, because somehow, they dont get it, really. So, Im on my 4th IVF attempt, have 9 follicles, all looking good, according to the nurse. EC is on Friday, then ET on Monday. we're also going for Assisted Hatching to give a bit of an extra chance.

It's so weird, because it means so much, yet I cant explain it to anyone, except you guys, who have all been there so understand . Anyway, I feel better now that Im sharing this with you! And good luck to everyone who is waiting at the moment. Ill light a candle for everyone on the site.

Sam
xx

Hi Sam,
I have been eyeballing for the last few months but haven't input for all that time but after trying to conceive for 2 years I am interested in how you respond to the assisted hatching. I too will be on my 4th attempt in Jan and for the first time going for assisted hatching. I am 31 and dh 39, 1st attempt was IFV and was a failed fertilisation then 2nd and 3rd was ICSI where we got to the 2ww with a -ive so they have suggested AH which we were going to suggest anyway.
I always seem to feel so +ive this far ahead of trying and think this is it "next time" but as the time crawls closer the head starts ticking and -ives seem to crawl in but I think that if the only reason I failed on the last 2 was that they didn't stick then AH is going to overcome the problem - sounds good to me !!!!!!

I am wishing you all the best and will look forward to your updates.... I know you are going to start that AH trend

Love
Lisa xxx

GOOD LUCK with the EC, I've posted a reply to my thread, but just to let you know we got 18 follicles instead of the 12 I thought I had (we had 6 with "double yokes"!!! Felt sore yesterday, but am okay today, fingers crossed for ET tomorrow, got to make the dreaded call this afternoon to see how they are all doing. Another GOOD LUCK for tomorrow and let us know how you do.
Sammie

Just want to say the very best of luck Sam - I was successful on my 4th attempt, so keep positive.

And Lisa, like you we had failed fertilisation on the first go, failed 2 ICSI's and then had a success with frozen embies. I was totally negative on the fourth go, trying not to build my hopes up and all that, but I'm 22weeks now (and 35yrs old) so just wanted to give a bit of encouragement and remind fellow 'veterans' that miracles do happen.

All the best
Nicola x

Me 34, DH, 37. Married for 11 years, ttc for 6+, failed 4 x fresh IVF tmts. 5th attempt at Lister Hospital gave us Megan on 5 April 2004 with a very straightforward pregnancy and labour. Attempt number 6 to start hopefully September 2007!
