Lupron is kind of like the BCP's in that it suppresses your natural ovulation so one follie doesnt jump ahead of the rest and then thats all you have. I am not sure how your cycle will work. What medications will you stim with? Are they only going to get a couple eggs? Just wondering....

Actually...we are doing a FET. So I am not using any stim meds. What is BCP? I am still learning all the lingo!

Start Lupron April 7th

Post by Mikal »

Just started my BCP on this past Sunday and will start the lupron again on Saturday the 7th. I had a successful IVF in 01-05, I tried a FET and it failed last Summer. I just started IVF again in January and I was overstimulated- had over 40 follicles and were all pretty big. I had to wait for 2 cycles to pass to let my body calm down before I started again. SO now I am ready. I would be happy to share my story with you as I go through this.

Welcome MIKAL
So glad that you could join us! We are so excited to get moving as I bet you are. It sounds like you have been through a lot this year already! It is so wonderful that you have already had success with one IVF cycle and lets just hope that you don't get the OHSS again. Did your doc change the protocol for you?

So glad you joined us!!!!

Update

Post by SnowWhite »

Hi all!,
Welcome Mikal! It's so hopeful to hear you had BFP with IVF!! I start Lupron on the 6th, this is my first IVF as it is many of the couples here...Its nice to have someone to talk with who has been through this.
I wish you well!

Okay, I went for my mock transfer yesterday with knees a knocking and it turned out to be ok afterall...lol...I mean it wasn't pleasant, but all I had was a little cramping. The doctor was real nice and talked to me all the way through it. Sooo I was a wimp for no reason..lol

The injection class I went to was a joke...She just put out all the couples info for everyone to hear and see, which made us all feel uncomfortable...and she was kind of blah..she didnt really explain much it lasted maybe 20 minutes. Thank goodness I am a nurse and I understand how to mix meds and do injections, although these meds are new to me. I felt bad for the other couples, she had the practice cushions there, but didnt tell them or ask them to practice?? The crappy thing is that this class cost $45 and was supposed to last an hour and a half...NOT! Sorry, had to vent, considering this place is an hour and a half away for me. Big waste of time..

I finally got my protocol straight. The protocol I am on is the "Luteal Phase Lupron Protocol" It's the same as I posted before as far as the meds go. I am actually getting excited now! and DH has been real sweet and supportive..he is constantly cracking jokes to break the tention...We
were talking (which I know we talk about this toooo much, can get overwhelimg, as you all know) about the approximate ER dates to tell his work and he said he would be at ER if I game him a dollar...haha...I guess you had to be there.. It made me laugh.

Does anyone know a good website that has good info as far as lab levels and how to decipher the grades of the embies, etc.?
and can anyone tell me where to look or a quick rundown on the do's and don'ts, "tricks" etc.(like what to eat or not to eat during certain phases) and so forth.. I need all the help I can get! Thanks
Talk to you all later
Lots of babydust!!

we are starting our first IVF cycle this month. we have been trying for years and have had a few unsucessful IUI cycles. so it is time to try something more aggressive. we are very excited and hopefull.
good luck to everybody. i will be looking at everyones experiences and comparing them to what i am going through too. or seeing what i may encounter at a later point in the cycle.
this is a great forum for restless and anxious IVF'ers like myself.

New to site - First round of IVF

Post by FBWife »

Hi ladies,

I am so thankful to have found this site. I am about to begin my first round of IVF in April/May and am anxious, excited and scared, but at least feel relieved to be moving in the right direction. So far, here is what is going on with us:

Me 27, DH 30
TTC approx 4 years
PCOS
Endometriosis
Elevated FSH
DH has Poor Morphology

I have no idea what to expect and am trying to maintain a positive attitude throughout everything. It has been rough lately because 4 of the people closest to me have become pregnant throughout the last few months, and while I am happy for them, it makes me sad. I am still finding this whole process surreal and can't believe that my husband (who is absolutely amazing and so supportive) and I are going through this. I guess it could be worse, but as you all know - it is so hard and all of it is SO overwhelming. I am looking forward to being on this site and interacting with people who can actually relate to what we are going through! Any advice as far as anxiety goes? I am also undergoing acupuncture, and will have it twice a week as it gets closer to retrieval.

Best of luck to all of you and LOTS of baby dust!

Hi FBWife,
Welcome aboard. you will get lot of information on this site.
well i never did acupunture,so i am not aware of its benefits. just a curious question to all out there, how does acupunture help? are there any person who got BFP without acupunture, because i have never gone thru it. please advise.

wow i go away for few days and come back to find this site has become really active. Hi and a warm welcome to all the newbies i hope you find this site as useful as i have the ladies on here are truly amazing.

TansRn i have heard so many good comments about doing a natural cycle i agree it seems to be much better all round also i think i will feel more relaxed with not having to do any injections. But i still feel in the dark as to how it works .

Mikal - good luck with your second try and lets hope you dont OSS this time around. They thought i had OSS last time around and i was admitted to hospital for 3 days.Something i do not want to go through again as it was horrible i think this is why i got a BFN as it happened the day after ET we put back two lovley follies and then i took ill. They still dont know if i OSS or my body rejected the eggs. This is what im scared of this time around as i had a really bad time first try i swore at the time never again thats why weve waited as long as we have.

Snowwhite - glad to here your mock transfer went ok and was better than you expected. At least you know what to expect on the real go they dont do mock transfers here we just went straight ahead i wish they did as at least i would of known what to expect as i was in a lot of pain during my ET. I cant believe you paid all that money for injection classes and they were no good you should of been shown every detail for that money. Can you complain id demand my money back
good luck with everything

Eristrawberry I agree this forum is really useful i wish i found it first time around

FBwife i understand how you feel i was exactly the same on my first go of IVF i didnt know what to expect i felt excited nervous and scared all together i was awuful but at least you have found us and can get a bit of an insight of what to expect if there if anything i can help you on ill try as its been over a year since our first try. The most amazing thing off this site is how many BFP everyone is getting and how much hope it gives us all as i thought that this whole IVF was a waste of time. Also the fact that im not the only one going through this as i did think i was. The ladies on here understand what you are going through when noone else can because they to are feeling what we all are. Good luck with everything
We never did acupunture so i cant help you with that one lol

As for me looks like a lot of us will be started before me my appointment isnt till 23April so i think im looking at beggining of May before anything starts i cant wait feel like ive been waiting forever for this moment to arrive and the longing to be a mam is getting harder and harder to bare ive never wanted something so much in my life than to be a mam right now. So why isnt it happening that is the hardest part. If you break your leg you get a pot on if you have a cold you take some medicine so why cant it be that simple for unexplained in fertility it is so frustrating because you cant get a cure or a remody for it. It makes me so mad     to think the one thing i really want i cant have. Sorry for the rant feel better now though lol

sticky baby dust to everyone

Hi guys!!!
I jumped boards to the May/June board, as I am not starting Lupron until May 22. I do check in on you guys though, as I am anxious to see lots of BFP's

Tanu2007- Just wanted to let you know that I had a BFP the first round of IVF and I never did accupuncture. I don't know if I would have been able to handle it. However, it was never brought up. Just wanted to share the positive story. It can happen:)
