Hello! I am currently on the Microdose Lupron Flare protocol (first IVF was cancelled due to poor response ). Wondering if anyone else out there is on this protocol or has been on this protocol - would love to hear your stories.
I started stims two days ago (Gonal F & Repronex) - I go back to the doc on Saturday for u/s and blood work. Hoping and praying that this protocol works for me. We are also doing PGD so we need a minimum number of eggs to proceed. Any other PGD patients out there??
Hello,
I am supposed to be starting the same protocol when AF arrives in the next week. Can you tell me more about the protocol and how it is working for you?
Thanks,
Our 1st cycle was cancelled Wednesday due to poor response also. I took the Ovidrel shot Thursday morning so that I'll ovulate what I did manage to develop.
I'm also supposed to start the Lupron flare protocol in a few weeks. Have to wait for AF, then be on birth controls pills for a couple of weeks, then start the protocol. Are y'all going to be put on birth control pills before you start the protocol?
Any info on what to expect would be greatly appreciated. They didn't give me much info at the dr's ofc, just said to call when AF got to town and they'd give me a new calendar.
This is my very first post. I've been stalking the board for a few weeks, but am not up on all the lingo. What's PGD?
Hello,
I was supposed to be on BC pills when AF arrives at any time. But the DR cancelled that and at dy 3 of my period, I will start the follistim with a little bit of lupron.
If you don't mind me asking, why did they cancel your bc's? I'm not sure what all I'm going to be on, but the nurse said it would be Lupron of course and back on the Gonal-f, which we were on last time. I'm assuming there's going to be another stim in there (Menopur last time), but don't know for sure.
I just did a similar protocol and I hope yours has gone well. I got 8 mature eggs that fertilized and I'm waiting on embryo transfer. I had past hyperstimulation with other protocols so this worked well so far.
I have done two cycles with mdl flare (after 2 failed with other protocols). The first we had 16 retrieved (twice as many as on previous protocols) and 12 ferts. This time we had 11 retrieved but only 3 ferts (low # of nl sperm in that sample). I definitely make more eggs on this protocol... unfortunately, my embryo quality is in the toilet (no matter which protocol used). The only difference for me with mdl flare is a bit of a headache. o/w i had no problems with it.
We are doing 3 fresh in a row right now, freezing all 2pns, then will do PGD again when we thaw them out all at the same time, and hope we have one or two for a FET. We did pgd our #1 IVF just 'cause dh is a biogenetics geek. We were devastated when all four ferts were complex chromosomally abnormal and therefore nonviable. We didn't do it on #2 or #3, but as i mentioned above, will be doing it on the ferts from our "mega-cycle"
doodah: pgd is "preimplantation genetic diagnosis". It can be done for specific genetic diseases, or to check if the embryo is chromosomally normal (actually, they don't check all of the chromosomes, but they do check several). They remove a cell in order to do the testing
Good luck to all of you!

I would say that decided not to have me take the BC because they are having me take the stimms right away. I did a search on google and found information on the Flare Protocol. I will get a extra boost of FSH doing it this way, and stronger meds.
I completed the MDL flare protocol - which I actually liked better than the longer Lupron protocol. I didn't really have any side effects from the Lupron this time around (no headaches at all) but I did have bloating from the stim meds. Unfortunately, we only have 4 that fertalized and since we are doing PGD, RE suggested we freeze the 4 we have and start another cycle to obtain more eggs. So, I did not have ET. I am not responding well to the meds and it's frustrating.
RE is changing my protocol for the next round - no Lupron at all and now he has me taking DHEA supplements (supposed to boost ovary function/production). Has anyone else taken DHEA? I've read some articles online about it - it seems encouraging.
My cycle was also cancelled due to poor response. Then I did the microdose lupron flare protocol and it worked great for me. Just don't give up, it takes time to find the right protocol and everyone responds differently. I was also told that the actual response changes from cycle to cycle. I know how it feels when you don't respond to the meds as it was really devastating for me. Keep your hopes up, it will work at the end. I am also Czech, PM me, if you want to talk. Lola
