Hi there,

I have recently just got my 2nd neg result from ICSI treatment. I have heard a little bit about techniques such as blasto transfer, assisted hatching and natural killer cells testing. Can anybody tell me how far down the line do they start considering these things, how much extra do they cost and are there any other different techniques? Both of our cycles the embies have failed to implant so the problem obviously lies there.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Love Julie xx
Hello Jules,
Im sorry to hear about your sad results. I also dont know much about the techniques you have listed. I would have thought though that couldnt it still be just bloody bad luck at this stage ie its just a matter of time (and cash unfortunately)
hope you feel better soon
Annie
hihi julie
i am now on my 4th icis treatment, and since the 2nd treatment
i have had assisted hatching, there is a small risk and is
recommended for a select group, patients who have undergone
numerous failed attempts at ivf and women over 38 yrs (im 42)
as for blasto transfer, how i understand it is if the embyro
can reach blasto stage before transfer u have a better chance
but with myself i have only had a small no. of good eggs on day
3 so they would not risk keeping them for another 2 days to reach
blastocyst in case they died.
you mentioned that your embies have failed to implant, is this
what your consultant said, as i have been told there are only
2 reasons for fail ivf, the quality (not the grade) of the egg
and whether the embryo fails to implant but they cannot tell u
which.
hope this helps
alison
Hi Julie,
I know a lot of couples who have only had success after 3rd and 4th attempts and tahts been with no change to tmt programme. The consultant up here told us that it takes 'normal' couples an average of 6 months to concieve and therefore you should look at having up to 6 tmts for your best chance of success. But at least the 'normal' couples have fun trying and it doesn't cost them a fortune emotionally and finacially!
However, for us we had 9 failed tmt's and then decided to look elsewhere and ended up at the Park in Nottingham and had a load of tests done inc, NK cells, antibodies and blood supply. I was lucky to have all three wrong with me but all have been treatable and I'm now 16weeks pg.
Good luck,
Di
