Myself and my husband have been trying for a baby for the past 3 years. Recently I have been taking 100mg of Clomid as I do not ovulate every cycle. On the 2nd cycle of Clomid I became pregnant but had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. I visited my consultant yesterday and he has told me to stay off the clomid for a period of 6 months as he thinks that the pregnancy will kick start my ovulation each month. I am very down hearted as I believe that I won't get pregnant without using the clomid.. Has anyone else been in the same situation or do you have any advice?
Hi,
I'm really sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I don't have personal experience of clomid (DH and I had lots of fertility issues between us and went straight to ICSI), but a friend of mine, who like me has PCOS, took clomid for one month. She had been trying for two years, and eventually conceived naturally before the clomid, but sadly lost the baby. After one month she stopped the clomid (not pregnant) because of bad side effects, but it seems either the clomid or her miscarriage did have some effect, as she now has a beautiful 6 month old son, conceived a few months later. She too was told that pregnancy kickstarts ovulation. And I was told that the 'best thing' for PCOS would be to get pregnant (at the time I was annoyed and thought if only it were that easy!) because it does tend to regulate erratic cycles.
I'm sure this doesn't take away the stress and misery of trying to conceive, but we've all been there, so vent on here whenever you feel it would help. There's always someone to offer an ear and support.
Best of luck, Beck x
Hi Jane louise
I was on Clomid for 10 months befoe finding out I was pregnant I M/C after a week and there is a higher persentage of M/C with any fertility treatment so I would not let it worry you too much. I hopw things work out, take care
Aly
x
