Hello All!

Sophie...You are just a plethra of knowledge. Thank you so much...keep it coming! I have a whole new insight to IVF since joining this thread. I think my outcome might have been different if I knew some of the information you have shared with us!

I work for an Outpatient Aquatic Center...I am a Physical Therapist. I worked during the 2ww last time...but didn't get in the pool. This time I am taking the 2ww off because the temperture of the pool room if usually 86 degrees and only going to get hotter in May and June. I think it is probably not good to become hot/overheated...which I am everday now. Hopefully this time I will get pregnant and stay pregnant.

Jenn...Have you decided on whether or not you are going to try acupuncture?

Okay...I have to go back to work! I will write more later. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hello girls!!

Say a prayer because the pharmacy is checking to see if any meds. are covered and they will call me back! I know the Gonal-rff and repronex are not (the most expensive ones wouldn't be- story of my life!) I think the Lupron and everything else are though.

Sophie- I'll tell DH about medline- thank you! Yep- the no bath/shower thing threw me for a loop too! I started to think "maybe that is why I haven't gotten preg. naturally- I take a bath almost every night!" Hey- if not bathing is what gets everyone preg. no thanks! I prefer to be clean!

Jul1- congrats Auntie!!

Literatriz- calendar looks good. That is the same one I had with my first cycle. Good luck! We are doing the short program this time in hopes to get more eggs!

Gotta go! Later!
Jenn

a quickie... can't resist, I had to take a peek and see how everyone was doing! :D

jen: wow, thanks for that compliment! You make me blush here! I'm really glad that the info I shared was useful! Your comment about having a whole new insight to IVF since you joined could not make me happier. This is exactly what those threads are for, among many things. Indeed, being overheated is not recommended, not during your 2ww, and not during pregnancy either. I don't know what's their base limit to consider that your core temperature is in the overheated zone, but I would definitely talk to my doc about this if I were you given your work environment. And you betcha girl that we wish real hard that you'll get and stay preggie this time! :D

However, between you and me... come here... *hug* there's no way to know exactly why you didn't get pregnant last time. It might be that, it might be that plus other things, and it might be other things only. Please sweetie don't make yourself feel miserable or angry because of that... eyes on the prize, on the future, even if it's tempting to over-analyze the past to try and predict the future or just attempting to answer the big why! :D

Jenn: ImageDoing it right now; I hope it works! ;) Keep us posted about the meds! And you might want to check for taxes refund as well. In Canada, or at least in Quebec, you can get up to 40% of taxes refund with each IVF cycle. A small consolation! Really, that no bath/no shower thing... I think somehow the info got all mixed up. When people have to go through laparoscopy to get the egg retrieval phase, which is really rare now but still happens, of course you can't take a bath or shower... for like a week big max! You have a surgery wound! But hey, it's not like the water will go inside your uterus and wash it out! Come on! If it were the case, can you imagine the result when one bathes during AF? And about the baths, well, I can understand why one would want to be careful with the temperature. For some, taking a bubble bath equals rivalling with cooked lobsters, so of course it raises the core temperature too much and that's not good when you're pregnant. But other than that, I don't see any reason why one would want to forbid you to take showers or baths during the 2ww. It's ridiculous! Oh, and  keep me posted about your DH's reaction!

Okay... enough for today! Take care ladies, and lots of hugs!

Hello Hello all

Well I got my calendar today and here is how it is looking....I will be starting the Lupron on April 12th-10 units. When AF comes I go down to 5 units. Then I am going to start 150 of Bravelle/Gonal F and 75 of Menopur a day and then on about the 4th or 5th day I will go in for an U/S. Tenative HCG injection is about May 1st, ER will tentatively be May 3rd and ET will be May 8. I guess they are planning on doing the beta on May 22.

I will be doing PIO every other day and Crinone Gel everyday. Wow sounds like fun there!!! LOL

I really cant believe that it is happening already! I am so excited. Wow I still can't believe it. Not much of a wait this time....

Jenn
Hoping that your RX's are covered! That would be such a help. I know I would love it!

Gotta run to work but I had to check in with you guys....

I’m keeping my fingers crossed some of your meds are covered – it is frustrating the costs that can be involved with this process. I agree with Sophie – check about tax refunds or insurance, I hope some of it is covered. In New Zealand public funding has been provided for the last couple of years for 2 rounds of IVF. Everyone gets allocated points and depending on you points depends on how many years (2-5 years) it takes before you are entitled to a funded cycle. It has given many who would never have the opportunity to do IVF a chance to have a family.

TransRN & Literatriz
Congratulations on getting your plans – it makes it all the more exciting and closer. Not long to go

Carolyn
Congratulations on becoming an Aunty. I hope both twins are doing well now. I hope before this time next year you are celebrating a new addition to your own family
I hope all the meds go ok and they aren’t too rough on you. Hopefully by knowing what to expect it will be a little easier. Also be easy on yourself and plan little treats along the way to look forward to each week. Also make a list of questions you want to ask at your next appointment – I found it really useful to clarify in my mind what I needed to find out. It also made sure I didn’t forget to ask about anything.

Sophie
I am so jealous – I enjoyed Egypt but Paris is one of my favourite places. My DH talked about us going there together from the time we first got together – One of my favourite photos is the 2 of us up the top of the Eiffel tower waving our hands in the air saying “we made it” Dreams do come true – that was one of our first dreams, we are just having a bit of a challenge working on one of our other dreams….

I had my appointment on Monday I went along with my list of questions – he must think I am a control freak…. We have somehow managed to have the Medical Director of the clinic handling all our treatment so I feel like I am in good hands.
It was good to have the chance to ask some of the hard questions and get some real answers (I needed to know where I stand…)
The good news is my ovaries weren’t scarred from last time (he had been worried they may be) the not so good news is that even with a lower dose I may still react the same way again, he said it was a bit light having fair skin and getting sunburnt…. every time you go into the sun you are likely to get burnt.

Apparently I had 35 eggs growing last time; ideally he would like to see me grow 10 quality eggs….. “come on eggs listen to what the good doctor has to say”
We are doing ISCI with sperm extracted from the testees which has been frozen so that lowers the success also…. But one challenge at a time…..we need to get to egg collection first

As soon as AF arrives I start BCP, 14 day later I start to down reg with Buserelin then start my stimms a couple of weeks later. I’m keen to get started (I think I am missing those needles….) I’m guessing AF may arrive on the 6th April (only because it arrived on the 6th Jan for my first cycle).

Well I had better sign off for now. I started a new job a couple of weeks ago and just found out this morning I am expected to make a presentation tomorrow morning. I’m feeling a little nervous about it and need to go through everything again so I can try and make a good impression.

Have a good day / evening everyone – indulge in a hot cross bun or easter egg !!!

Good morning ladies!

TansRN: woohoooooo! It's so great that you got your calendar! You were looking forward to that moment, weren't you? yay! :D So if I understand your calendar right, you won't take the BCP at all, correct? You'll start Lupron on a pre-determined date, then when AF comes, you'll change the dose and start stimming right away? Then u/s until your ovaries turn into grapes and then we know the rest! ;) Is that correct? Is there a reason why you won't be downregging for long? Either way, hehehe, your post made me all excited for you! *does happy dance* I'll be waiting for the 12th with you! :D

Arizonakiwi: if you want to go to Paris often, it's very simple hunny, you marry a Frenchman like I did! ;) His family mostly lives in Le Mans, though, but we always land at Charles-de-Gaulle airport nevertheless. I'm really glad that you made your Paris dream come true; that pic must be something to see! And *hug* on the other dream that's a little more challenging... I just hope that you won't be waving all your hands in the air when you take that picture; someone's gotta hold that baby! :D

About your ovaries, well, it's reassuring that you'll have a doctor that knows his business. Don't beat yourself too hard on being a control freak sweetie; the last cycle was a huge disappointment and he's not able to reassure you completely. Your anxiety is expected in that kind of context. *hugs* I just hope it won't affect your quality of life, though, and spoil your mood. Look, they're all warned that your ovaries tend to overreact, so I'm sure they'll be watching you very closely, even more than last time. That's gotta count for something, no? And the fact he can't promise you it won't happen again does not mean that it automatically will. Many things can go wrong on every person's cycles here, and many of us do become pregnant. I'll be doing the jiggy dance for you so AF arrives quickly and shortens the suspense as much as possible. You can be sure I'll have prayers for you when stimming begins, sweetie.

Have a lovely one ladies!

Good morning! Well AF is here! Kind of a bummer, but I'm glad she came early and I won't be bloated and crampy Friday for my sister's b-day party!

You all are so right about taxes- we did ours the other night and we are getting money back for the first time, and it is because of our medical bills! Exciting! We will just put it toward our next cycle.

Gotta go. Shopping for professional clothes. I took a year off of work and now I am thinking about going back. I have interviews in a couple of weeks and nothing to wear. I mean...I can't wear the same clothes I wore last year to work in. What would people think!!

Take care!
Jenn

Sophie
Yes You are right. I do not take BCP's. I didnt last time either....I have no clue why. They are all a little bit different. You know how it goes...Anyhow, loved your comment about the ovaries being like grapes. Isnt that the truth. I am so excited to have the actual calendar and to be thinking that in a few weeks I could be knocked up!!! LOL hehehe just being silly.....

Angela
My hunny and I went to Paris for our honeymoon and we have a photo of ourselves at the top as well. I love it. We had a wonderful dinner at that restaurant there. I had a good time. I also have some good photos of Chartres cathedral. It was amazing.
Anyhow I am so happy that you have your calendar of events as well. Isnt it great! It will so be here before you know it. Totally unreal! Hopefully you will have 10 really good eggies!

I hope that everyone else is doing well. We are having an unusual arctic day...very very windy and cold. It was snowing this afternoon!!! Up north they are supposed to be getting 12 inches of snow!!! I thought that this was spring!! Oh well....

Hello ladies!

Could not help but sneak in and take a peek! :D Two clients cancelled today, leaving me with a lot of free time!

Jenn: Hello! So AF is here, but it's not the AF that begins your cycle, right? (just so I know for the list) Glad you see the bright side of things, hehe! :D It's really super that you were able to save some money from your taxes to put on your next cycle! yay! Good luck on the shopping dear! And you're right, wearing clothes that people saw you wear would be a SHAME! Happy store-hunting sweetie, and have fun!

Tanya: the ovaries-grape comment actually belongs to the sweet Becleo! She told it to me when I was disappointed at my stimming not evolving fast. She said that her ovaries usually slept until boom! they turned into grapes! ;) And you're not silly sweetheart! It's never silly to keep hoping and dreaming! Heck, the number of baby websites I visited during my last cycle... whoooooweee! ;)

And I agree with you, Chartres is absolutely amazing! :D LOVE IT! And the village, though very small, is too cute as well! So medieval! :D It's a luck that my family-in-law lives an hour away from it only! It's always on our way to their home when they pick us up at the airport in Paris, so whenever we have an excuse to go there... ;) makes Sophie happy!

And the weather is SO yucky today! Wet snow and windy... ewwwww! Not looking forward to go back outside!

ciao!

Hello Everyone!

I can't believe it only a week left until I get to start Lupron. Now it seems to be moving so fast. I just can't believe it. I might be pg is a little while...just a few weeks. That is so nutty! I can hardly believe it. I want to see the double line thing. I will be POASing like you wouldnt believe. I am buying like a ton of sticks so I will freaking know the minute it happens! LOL Can you tell I am a little obsessive? hehe.

Sophie
I took photos all the way up the stairs to Chartres and I walked around the top and it was so beautiful. I had a great time. Such a great church! I was so amazed! I loved it...

Jennifer-
Can you please email me your address. My hubby threw out the box with it on it!!!! I have something for you. Thank you for the PIO! Thank you thank you! I got it today. I really appreciate it and I hope that I will be able to pay it forward soon!

Hope things are well. It is snowing and like a blizzard here today and it feels like January. Really unreal. Oh well.....we are on our way to babies so who cares about the weather right!!!! I mean we are paying big bucks to have sex with a cather full of embryos!!!! LOL That should make us smile....

So much news. So many of you getting calendars to start. So exciting. 8)

Just a quick drop in from me.

Wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter weekend Make the most of it if you are in one of the places where we get a long weekend. In the UK, we get 4 days. YIPPEEE

Think someone (sorry cannot scroll back far enough to see who - Angela?) asked what to drink in place of tea/coffee. I drink a lot of peppermint tea and also herbal teas that are caffene free. Plus I have really tried to up my water intake.

Sophie - know that you asked about 2 checks per day at my new clinic. I understand that they take bloods and will scan sometimes twice a day as you approach ET so that they can time it as accurately as possible. Guess that I will find out more when I do the monitored cycle. They also continue to monitor you during 2ww whereas last clinic just sent me away after ET. Don't know whether it will make any difference at all but has to be worth a try given their success rates versus every other clinic in the UK. They also will not start your cycle until FSH level is low and they make you wait for a month when it is lower and so will not start you without checks

On the bed rest debate, Zita West who is a fertility expert in the UK says 3 days of just getting up for the loo. I asked my consultant and he said that if the embies are goingt to stay then they will stay and that lying down will make no difference at all

On the baths/showers my clinic recommend no baths in 2ww due to the overheating issue and as it may risk giving you an infection down there - not as it might wash them away. they said that showers were fine so just made sure that I did that in 2ww

Really sunny in London which helps the mood and meant to be nice all weekend. Dh and I are off to see my parents in Devon. Little sister there who knows nothing of our ivf issues so it will be an 'ivf free weekend' which I think will do me good. AF about 10 days away for me so probably need to call my new clinic towards the end of next week and find out what tests I need to get done in my monitored cycle. Worry about that next week!

Love and hugs to you all.
Carolyn

Hi everyone I am new here ....originally started with the Dec/Jan thread I have seen a few of you there if not
I was wondering if you minding me coming over here .....
Let me introduce my situation

I have had 2 BFNs and are now attempting my 3rd cycle. I had my 2 DDs ages 14 wow she will be 15 in less than 2 weeks and another that is 8 &1/2 after my daughters I could not see myself with my X and bringing any more childern into our relationship so I had my tubes clamped. Well after finally seeing the light and leaving that relationship I found myself with my DH who has 1 DD who is 4 we have been together since she was a baby and we have her with us full time 3 DDs and DH has always wanted to try for a boy... So after being told that thanks to my tubal rupture damage I was not a canadate for reversal we started with IVF. Both our first 2 attempts we transfered 2 blasts each time and both were of so-so quality and both ended with BFNs. Our last BFN was on Jan 25th and AF raised her ugly head on the 29th but we were not approved for anymore cycles then. On Feb 15th we got the best phone call the girl that does the insurance part at our clinic was able to get us approved for 2 more cycles (she is a mircle worker with ins. companies) So on Feb 26th I went for ending appt to discuss what went wrong and what we were to do next well..... She said when AF showed we were set to go again well that witch just FINALLY showed 29 days late with the help of Provera and we just started BCPs this past Sunday. NOW they say that since I have had 2 failed cycles I have to repeat the hysteroscopy..... OH joy but the day that I do that they will give me my schedule. Well update that I did my test and all is well YEAH We start Lupron on 4-18 then start Gonal and Repronex on 4-28 and ER 5-8 then ET on 5-11 I'm so excited I just found out.
Well hope everyone is well and thanks for reading.

Steph
