Me!!!
I did my IVF in October 2006 at Center for Reproductive Medicine , Minneapolis with Dr Lisa Erickson. Unfortunatley it failed. I had enough embryos in good shape, but only transfered one for some reason.
Anyway Iam now 5 weeks pregnant with treatment from the same clinic except this time I just used Clomid!!!
Thank you for the quick response! Did you research all the clinics? I was leaning toward either reproductive medicine center or the midwest center for reproductive health. Do you know anything about those? Did you get a portion of your money back with Dr. Erickson? The clinic you went to appears to be the most expensive clinic from the research I have done- but there success rates are a little higher also.
I didnt do any research at all. For me , my Gynecs kept on postponding any sort of tests to see if I had any infertility issues . So I talked to my regular physician whom I really trust and she recommended me to Dr Lisa. As soon as I got an appointment with her (which btw took 3 months)
I started IVF without even trying the basic treatment. So I think that they kinda lean more towards business than the positive output for the patients. My issue was basically low progesterone and hormonal imbalances which is generally an easy fix, but we didnt want to wait any longer and she suggested IVF was the best shot for that instead of telling us just to wait couplke of months !! I would call me "IDIOT " a hundred times for taking her suggestion and spending aorund $15000 for IVF. I did not get any money back. After teh failed cycle , I did some research on how people get money back and found out that midwest center of reproductive health returns money if it didnt work , but the catch is their initial cost would be around 20 grand and we will get only 4k as return in case it failed. So to sum up .. I felt all these clinics cost around the same .Also the cost varies for each person depending on the medications too.
Also I have couple of friends and neighbours who are pregnant with 1st IVF by working with docs at CRM.Definitely their ratings are higher than the others.
I have a friend who is currently under treatment . But I cant remember exactly the clinics name. She said its somewhere by the University. I can ask her about it and let you know the details tomorrow. She said is fairly cheap there and the Doc doesnt let her take any high value treatments even though she insisted . he said that she can get Pregnant with the treatment that tehy are doing. I kinda like that sort of Docs.
Iam sorry I could nt give much information . Its much safer to research and decide. The most important thing is that you should be comfortable with the Doc. Dr lisa was easy to talk to about all my problems. But again , I havnt talked to any otehr RE to compare her with. My suggestion would be to take appointments with couple of docs from these clinics . It will cost you for sure.. but you can atleast be comfortable that you did your research. One other thing is , make sure the clinic is close to your work or home, as you will have appointments almost everyday throughout your treatment . So if its too far for commute , that will be very inconvinient.
We did our IVF at MCRH. Dr. Corfman and his staff are wonderful. Very professional, very personal, and very patient oriented. I would've felt this way even if we had failed, but we were fortunate enough to have a success. At the time, they did not offer the shared risk program so we did not participate.
I knew that there were cheaper clinics in MN, but I felt more comfortable at MCRH. They also came recommended from 2 different OBs that I went to when sorting through the basics of infertility.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck!
We went through all our fertility treatments at the mayo clinic in rochester. We did 3 rounds of clomid, 3 rounds of IUI and one round of IVF. We are now 33 weeks pg thanks to that one round of IVF. Bridget
