TWW questions???

Post by carisa »

Hi there,
I just finished my first ivf cycle. My transfer was Sunday the 1st. I tested four days after the transfer and it was negative. I have been pretty upset ever since. I was wondering whether it could still be too early for the hcg hormone to show up on a home pregnancy test? Also, I have had no major preg symptoms except for some mild cramping. I have been having those now for a few days off and on. Has anyone had a bfp with no major symptoms? I'm trying really hard not to overanalyze things but i's so hard!

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hi Carisa,

I think it's safe to assume that you've tested too soon. I'm on my second IVF cycle...this one's a FET and I go in for my beta on Tuesday. This 2ww is driving me crazy!!! Hang in there and try to hold off on the HPT's, I've done 2 already and ended up crying after the second. I really think they do more harm than good. I'm going to remain hopeful for both of us. BFP ALL AROUND!!!!

Take Care!

The earliest you should test is 10 d post transfer and even then only about 50% of positives will be positive at that time. After that the percentages increase of course. You can have a neg HPT on day 14 and still have a + blood preg test. Don't do a HPT if it causes excessive stress and worry........not worth stressing the embies that are trying to set up home. Good luck!

I have to agree with IVFmomof1 and Sassy: you have tested too early!
Regarding your cramps, it is because of the progesterone. Mine started the day following egg collection (first day of progesterone) and I still have them on and off.
Now for the symptoms part, my breast started to feel really sore - but I thought it was the estrogen pills - and I realized that I was getting up to pee more frequently at night. I did a HPT 15 days after transfer and the pregnancy was confirmed with the blood work the following day.

Best of luck to you!
