Hi, I have just started my IVF ICSI and i am currently on lupron. I am 30 years old and I want to trasfer just one embrio, however my doctor wants to do two because of my age, if I was in my twenties he would do one. Has anyone here who is my age had any success with just one embrio traqnsfer? Thank you very much.
Just wanted to know why you only want one? I am 30 and beginning the IVF journey and I was told by my doctor that they will transfer two. I would do whatever the doctor recommends. Good luck!

I had success with 2 so I can't speak of only transferring 1. I believe the statistics on 2 embryos sticking is only like 25% so if your worried about twins the numbers are in your favor. The doctor wants to just better your chances. If I were you I would transfer 2 but that is just my opinion. Go with your gut and what you feel is best for you. I wish you all the best!

Thank you so much for your posts, I guess I want to trasfer just one embryo because I am not sure if I am ready for twins. My friend who is 33 just did IVF ICSI with the same doctor and he transfered 2 embryos for her and both took, so I just wanted to hear other people experiences with just one embryo transfer.
Although I'm 38 and last ivf transferred 2 (I have hydrosalpynx that can't be treated so it's dragging chances down a little) I can understand you're considering transferring 1 emb.
Not only is the possibility of twins quite daunting - but the risks of premature birth, etc. are higher too. You can always freeze the other emb too.
Best of luck whatever you decide.

Hi, I just wanted to say that I am 30 and my doctor recommended 2 and I am now 9weeks pregnant with twins.. My husband and I could not be happier. I just know that if I only transferred one and had a BFN, I would be soo disappointed so I was bold and went for two! Twins is a little scary I suppose but god would not give you more than you could handle. We are delighted... To go from thinking you MAY never have a child to getting 2 is a miracle to me... This was my first IVF cycle and we used ICSI. We also have 6 blasts frozen so we had a VERY good cycle.. Our problem was male factor only.. Best wishes and my prayers are with you for a BFP!! It can happen. Take care! --Jess

Thank you all so much for your posts, I am starting my stims on april 12th , so I still have not decided how many embryos i am going to trasfer, i guess it will all depend on the quality of the embryos, i would still prefer one, but we will see.
I had my ER yesterday and I haven't heard the fertilization report, but there were 35 follicles, so hopefully they will be choosing b/w 3 or 5 day transfer. My doc is more of a 3 day fan b/c she thinks that they do better in the womb. She would be willing to do 2 on Day 3 or 1 or Day 5. I think I'm leaning towards the Day 3. What did you do? Congrats!
Hello,
I have just started my stims today, my probable EC is on april 23rd and ET in 25th, I am leaning more and more towards putting in one, however, it will all depend on the embryo quality. I am so excited I can't wait! Good luck to you!
