successful story

Post by boomer »

I'm 8 weeks pregnant with triplets after my 2nd intrauterine insemination using injectable fertility drug (bravelle). DH and I were unable to get pg due to me having PCOS and endometriosis. While we were undergoing treatments, I was constantly on this site searching for any success story I could get my hands on that would give me some hope. So I wanted to share this with you and I hope it brings hope for those who are still trying.

Thank you for all of the well wishes and congratulations !

Henrietta - if i remember correctly, i used 3 bottles of bravelle for most of the cycle. In the very begining and very end of the cycle, i was on 2 bottles. I think between the bravelle and saline solution it was a total of 1 1/2 ML in the syringe.

Wow Boomer!! Congrats on the trips!! I hope you are feeling okay!

One question: were you monitored via ultrasound during this process? Do you know how many mature follicles you had? TIA

Hi Rotobay,

Yes, i was monitored by ultrasound every other day during the cycle. I remember i had a lot of follicles , so much that the doctor himself was speechless. if i remember correctly, i had at least 10 on each ovary.
Good luck to you !!

Boomer, what pregnancy symptoms did you have in the beginning with your pregnancy? I am asking because I have a lot of pregnancy symptoms with my periods anyways, but I did an IUI this month with four follicles. I have until next Monday until I can test, but I am having weird symptoms, like major lower back pain and very sensitive genitals, to not be too graphic. I was just curious what symptoms others had? On your first IUI, was your period stronger or more painful?

Congrats! I'm glad to hear your success. My husband and I haven't been trying for as long as some have here, but it is still a relief to hear your success. I am curious how you made the decision to do IUI rather than IVF. Did you just go with you doc's advise? I have my second appt with my doctor and I'm curious what she will recommend. She recommended 3 months of clomid and then she said we would discuss IUI vs. IVF. I mentioned that the success rate for IVF seem to be much higher, and she agreed. Do most docs have you try IUI prior to IVF or can I go straight for IVF? How did you decide to do IUI? Any advise would be appreciated, congrats again that's very exciting!

Hi sd!
I think most people (me anyway) go for the iui first becase of the major cost difference. If finances were not an issue I totally would've don ivf right away. Its just that iui works for so many people and is so much less expensive I thought why not try it first! That being said I have had five that didnt work and am waiting for the results on my 6th. If this one didnt work I will move on to ivf. I think it depends on the causes of your if as to what your re will recommend. Were you monitored during your clomid use? Good luck with whatever route you choose!
