expecting triplets

Post by boomer »

Are there any parents of triplets on this site? We just learned we are expecting triplets (due november 19th). I would love to hear from a mother of triplets how your pregnancy went and if you have any advice on preparing for triplets. My husband and I are a little overwhelmed and would appreciate any advice!

Congratulations

I too don't have any experience with triplets but wanted to wish you all the best.

Doce Vita had her three littles ones in January, hopefully she will be on soon to give you a few little tips.

Take care of yourself

expecting triplets

Post by Renae1978 »

First off, Congratulations! This is my first post I was searching for messages boards and came across this one. I have identical triplet boys born 10/19/2006. The pregnancy went good, except all of the aches and pains. I had 5 weeks of bed rest at home. No hospital bed rest like I thought I would. I had a really good perinatologist but it was over an hour away. I had the babies at 33wks1day. The boys weighed 3lbs 5oz, 3lbs 13oz and 3lbs 9oz and I gained 80 pounds. The boys were born healthy, they had some jaundice, apnea and feeding issues. Right from birth they were breathing room air. Triplets are a lot of work but also a lot of fun. My best advice would be drink lots of water and rest a lot. It's hard but it will be worth it. Plus you want to make sure you have plenty of clothes, crib sheets, diapers, formula. Good luck on your pregnancy!!

hi Boomer,

Congratulations on your pregnancy! You are triple blessed!

I wanted to let you know that being pregnant with my babies was the best thing that has ever happened to me, yes i was on hospital bed rest for over a month, but not beacause i was contracting or anything, my doctor wanted to make sure i dont move around and make sure these babies cooked in the oven long enough, and thank GOD i listened to him and followed everything he said. My babies were born 5 hours shy of 34 weeks.. my daughter Leila was 5lbs2oz her brothers Matteo was 4lbs13oz and Giovani was 4lbs 11oz. I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy but it was totally controlled with my diet. From me to you, the best thing you can do for your babies is RELAX! dont do anything that might jeopardize your pregnancy. Now that the babies are home its awesome, very tiering and exhausting but nonetheless an amazing feeling.
I wish you good luck. Please see a maternal fetal specialist and follow everything they tell you. Drink loads of milk and water... at the last month i was drinking 3 glucerna drinks a day its a replacement for ensure for diabetics, this is what helped the babies plump up.
With Gods Blessings BFP!

triplets

renae1978 and dolce vita,
Thank you for writing back and congratulations on your triplets ! It's so nice to hear some successful stories about triplets and it certainly sounds like the joy of 3 babies outweighs the sleepless nights ! Renae - is your birth year 1978? If so, we are the same age. My husband heard that women under age 30 tend to deliver later. I hope that's right.
When did either of you stop working? I'm trying to plan ahead as much as i can and i heard that 24 wks is the typical time for bedrest. I can't tell you how happy i am that you both took the time to respond. I was very overwhelmed and scared at first when we found out it was triplets but after the first week that all changed and now i'm excited. Would still like another "triplet mommie" to turn to though with questions/concerns, so thank you again !
