I was told that baths are fine--I know I took them all throughout my first trimester. My RE said that the water temperature cools fast enough that your body temperature isn't at risk. That's why you can't do hot tubs--your body temperature gets too high!

I've had baths all along but I just kept the temperature to warm rather than hot. It really relaxes the pains too. When I would get the really sore period type cramps in the first trimester, if I had a bath, it would calm it down loads.

As the ladies have already said, warm baths are ok and probably even good for you (in that they are relaxing and can help with the cramps) - the only time when you should avoid them is if you're bleeding/spotting. That is to avoid getting an infection.

As with anything, it's of course always good to check with your own OB/RE.
