Oh My God!!

Hi Girls, I don't know whether any of you read my post from a couple of days ago asking for advice after a failed cycle. I was due to test on 11 Dec but af arrived on 4 Dec so I didn't bother testing as I thought there was no point and it would just upset me again. Anyway I have felt funny the last few days, have had crampy pains and boobs are huge and quite tender. I had put it down to the drugs still in my system but today decided to do a test just to confirm and guess what - it was positive!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am completely shocked and confused as I have deffo had a proper period. I am really worried that it could be an ectopic because of the pains I have had. I have also been really naughty and been drinking, eating crap, decorating and lugging heavy shopping bags around and just generally not looking after myself. Dh thinks it might be the drugs but this is day 17 so surely the pg test wouldn't be detecting the HCG injection this late on would it? I am also panicking as I stopped using the pesseries once af arrived so don't know whether the pg could have been sustained anyway. I rang the emergency number at my clinic today (IVF clinic closed on a Sunday) and the nurse told me to start up the pesseries again and ring them in the morning to arrange a scan. Does anyone know will they scan me right away or will I have to wait the 2 weeks? When can they detect an ectopic pg? I am really excited but also quite apprehensive as I'm sure its just too good to be true. Maybe Christmas miracles do happen !! Julie Breathe, Breathe - the drugs are out of your system - unless you store them like a squirrel. 3 things could have happened - a period type which some get all the way through pg Twins and one has come away Or ectopic - mine was this but don't worry - I didn't test either - stopped the pessaries and had sore boobs etc and then pain one night which was exruciating - went away again but really knew about it - your pain does not seem so bad. Then tested and +++++++++ It was ectopic but I had very blocked tubes so not unusual. They will probably test straight away. Don't worry about shopping and lifting - I have done this through my 2ww and am +++++++ but waiting for my scan on chrissie eve. I lifts stuff and had a glass of wine on mine as thought not worked or sod it! Also the pessaries are an extra - you would not have got a ++++++ if you really needed them. Normal people carry on as normal - it's just us IVFers being cautious but really there should be no difference once in there Hope all ok and fingers crossed Love Tracey xxx

WOW, Julie i am so very very pleased for you. This sounds like absolutely fantastic news and after you were so convinced it hadn't worked. I really am over the moon for you and DH. What a xmas surprise! helen Let us know when the scan is.

Hi Girls, thanks for the replies. I phoned the hospital this morning and I have to go for a scan on 2 January. I think I will have cracked up completely by then. The clinic have advised me to use whatever pesseries I have left but then it is just a case of waiting. I thought I would be ecstatic but I don't know how to feel really. I'm scared of being too excited in case its bad news in the end. I had some spotting last night but none so far today, I am too scared to do another pg test in case it shows negative. Tracey when you have an ectopic do you have pains all the time and was it just on one side? I had horrendous pains on Friday but they have eased off since then and are now just niggles sometimes on one side sometimes the other. The pains feel like they are coming from my ovaries. I still have sore boobs and back ache and felt a bit sick this morning so i suppose they are all good signs. Helen - when is your scan? Love Julie xx

Hi Julie Wow, bet you're glad you did a test - what do our bodies put us through??? I also had a bit of bleeding this time round and thought it all over - but got a +ive, my levels were quite low but doubled each time (I've had 3 beta blood tests). Like Tracey I've got my scan on Christmas Eve - I'll be on tenderhooks until then as I still have AF type pains and no other symptoms. I'm going to try and just enjoy this time but I have to admit it's hard not to think of all the things that could go wrong. Look after yourself and try and enjoy this pregnancy, I'll be thinking of you on the 2nd. Lots of love Jen xx

My scan isn't until 7th Jan. I'll be 8 weeks by then! My clinic don't do them before 7 weeks because they say that what you can see varies and after 7 weeks you can see more. good luck girls helenx

Jules That is fantastic news , but any normal pregnancy doesnt need pessaries etc so you surley sould be ok , Im just overwelmed for you . take care . Trace x

O my god - you must be on cloud 9!! But what a mare to have to wait til jan...... can you not get a blood test done before then, and then maybe between Christmas and NY - wouldnt that give you a good indication of whats going on? Never got as far as you so dont really know what I'm talking about...but might be worth trying? TAke care!! and congrats!! Cazx

Jules What a nightmare to wait - I should have my scan on 29th but they are closed for xmas - my clinic like to do them after 7 weeks but are doing mine early on 24th so bricking it - like you JEN - no symptoms and I have had them on the ectopic and the last long pg! No sore boobs - nearly pulled a nipple off trying to make them sore so stopped that I can tell you! Also have AFish pains but my colon is playing up so not sure what the cause is. Jules - re the ectopic - I had pains in my right side - really bad one night and then went the next day - had funny ovary pains but had nearly over stimulated. Did a test and they took me in for scanning - would have been just over 6 weeks and found heartbeat in right tube. If you can't wait contact your EPU around Christmas Eve and go in for scan Good luck Love Tracey xxx

Hi Jules, Great news - not surprised your not sure how to feel when you'd convinced yourself it was another failure. Try to stay calm and relaxed - easier said than done. I had pains on my left side just after I'd found out tmt had worked and was worried it was ectopic - instead I was told it wa my ovary. Like Tracel said if you're still worried and in pain next week contact your local EPU. Take care, Di
