CroElla - You were visiting in my area (sorry about the weather, very un-LA)! Don't worry about the extra Follistim. They always have extra in the ampules. It's very nice surprise! I didn't have any symptoms at four days either. And this is the first time I ever had sore boobs on stimming. You're doing great!

Stephanie - I really want to do assissted hatching thist time also. It is supposed to be good for people with high fsh. I'm so glad you are feeling positive. I hope we get twins together!

JoviGal - Great to hear from you! Sounds like they really expect the prolactin to be normal by your day 3. Did you ask them about why they are waiting to test until day 3? Seems like you have a very reasonable concern and an earlier blood test is easy to do and will put your mind at ease.

N77 - Don't worry about being cranky. We've earned it!! Sounds like you have great synmptoms. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. You're getting ER same day as me and Donna. We'll keep eachother sane during this upcomoing 2ww!!

Good luck Donna on Er tomorrow! I'm looking forwarad to hearing how it goes. We're all going to do great. It's spring, the perfect time for egg hatching :D

Sounds like things are getting pretty active on this board since I last checked. Best of luck to those having ER and ET this week.

I came down with strep throat this weekend. I'm hoping it does not affect anything, but I don't really have a choice. I've been feeling tired and weak and now it is hard to attribute this to a pregnancy, but rather just being sick instead.

Jes - Sounds like you have a bright future. Way to go on this cycle.

Charlie - Just another week before we test. The suspense is killing me although my AF is due by the end of week so I wonder if it doesn't arrive if that will be a good sign?!?!

Wow! big day(s) on the board... Seems we have some ERs and ETs today - luck to all of you and most of all, take it easy....

We had ET on Sat. and transferred 4 embies of various grades... keeping the fingers crossed. The embies were not as good quality as we were initially told on Friday - so, we xfr'd 1x8Cell, gr.; 1x6cell gr.2; 1x6cell gr.3 & 1x3cell, gr.2. Had some mild but consistent cramping last night and a bit of spotting mixed w/CF (sorry, TMI) Sat & yesterday, and even though on bedrest, I think I may have been up one too many times during Easter Sunday. I too have mild OHSS and it can be pretty uncomfortable - not to mention having to go the the bathroom it seems like every 1/2 hour!

Today - I'm just parked on the couch in front of TV and trying to pass the time productively - it's hard b/c I am always go-go-go and really active.... Oh well - forced down time.

A question, which I've never really asked is WHY the bedrest, and why so many varying times (48-72 hours)....?? Anyone know? Does it serve some physical aspect or is it more psychological?

Cheers all, and good luck to everyone at your various stages... :)

Lisa - Congrats on having your babies back home! I can't believe you have 4 snuggling in!!! Wow! - do you think the spotting was implantation bleeding? my clinic don't advise bed rest at all! they say just go on as normal and rest if tired! When do you test??

Well, I think given our last 3 rounds of no success, they're giving us the best chance they can. We had none to freeze, and 4 viables - so we took 'em all! I doubt we have a real risk of trips or quads, although I'd be thrilled with twins after all we've gone through in the past 2.5 years.

We test on 4/21 - 2 weeks from transfer. Whether I'll HPT beforehand is up in the air - it's so disheartening and I want to keep a positive outlook... Then again,I have no willpower when it comes to the evil pee-stick!!

The 2ww is a drag (and, I'm just starting it!), but trying to stay busy. I'm surprised at the "no bedrest" advice - most of the posts I've read all have some down time following transfer. In the UK, are they required to limit to 2 embies? Do they have a protocol as to what day they transfer? What happens to the rest - Freeze, I presume?

Good luck gals!

Lisa - Yes they will only transfer 2! My clinic only freeze the top quality embryos too - so only grade 1's, which is very sad as we had to discard 4 of our embryos that weren't good enough to freeze. I've read lots of different things about bed rest, and I trawled back through to something I found interesting written by another lady talking about her clinic and research that she had done:
PMApsy wrote:Okay guys, here come my two cents!

As for work, she told me some patients ask for a doctor's paper to get off work till the pregnancy blood test. She said it's completely unncessary. She insisted that implantation occurs within 3 to 5 days after transfer, so two weeks off work is unnecessary. If one's work does not involve a possibility of shocks, physical stuff or very stressful stuff, it's absolutely not needed to miss more than the day of the transfer, she said.
But there's more. I checked on MEDline for scientific articles on IVF and specifically about bed rest. I don't remember who here is a massage therapist and talked about the dangers of bed rest for blood circulation, but she was totally right. ALL of the studies I read concluded that bed rest after embryo transfer, whether as little as 20 minutes after transfer or 24 hours after transfer, has absolutely no impact on implantation or pregnancy rates.

The reason why some clinics still recommend it is that, at the very beginning of IVF procedures, when the knowledge was not as detailed as it is today, doctors recommended complete bed rest because it was the logical thing for them to do. And then gradually, people started to question that and tested that theory. The results are there, and on thousands of IVF patients. It makes no difference.

Some studies went further than just testing whether or not bed rest makes a difference, however. They tested whether bed rest had a negative impact on implantation and pregnancy rates. Some studies found it is the case. They compared a 20 minutes bed rest after transfer to a 24h bed rest and found that the women who were in bed rest for 24 hours had significantly lower implantation and pregnancy rates than the others.

If you read on the sticky do's and don't thread, there are many different stories and I don't know which ones to believe - so I have just been sensible. I think in my heart I know, there is nothing I can do that will affect the outcome. Just think of all the ladies that get pregnant the 'old fashioned way' and don't know about it for weeks and weeks - just think what they do drink, exercise, take baths, smoke? and I don't know if you ladies know Haylie, she separated from her Husband (he upped and left her) just before her last FET, where she transferred 1 grade 4 embryo and she still got a BFP, despite all the stress she went through.

Who knows why it works for some and not for others? It is so frustrating!!! I think I am going slightly mad - hence this rediculously long post!

I hope your 2ww goes quicker than mine has gone and wishing you a HUGE BFP!!!
