Winter 06/07 Babies

Post by PebblesUK »

Hello,

Just wanted to start a thread for those of us who had our babies in the winter just gone (the second trimester girls!). I don't feel like I can keep posting on the pregnancy side, Ellie's going to be 4 months on Wednesday!

I hope everyone's babies are behaving themselves and you've all settled into motherhood well. Zoe and Justine how are you getting on juggling the toddlers too?

Vita can't wait to see piccies of those precious little ones. Kareen I'm sure we're due for an updated photo of your gorgeous cherubs too. Tammy Andrew looks lovely, he's growing so well. Heather how are things with you? Hayley are those lovely girls still behaving themselves?

Obviously we have been having a hard time! Ellie came out of hospital at the end of February, was home 2 nights, back in 2 nights, home 12 days back in and very very ill (she had to go back on CPAP) for 11 days, home for 12 days back in for 2 nights and came home again yesterday. Hopefully it will be for longer than 12 days this time!

She's doing really well (apart from her epidoses of struggling to breathe). She's still oxygen dependant, has chronic lung disease, reflux and now has an inhaler but in the scheme of things she's doing well. Last week she weighed in at 3.1 kilos (6lb 13oz).

She's started to take anything from 150mls to 200mls every 2-3 hours (she should have 70mls every 4 hours for her weight). I'm thinking about starting her on a little baby rice. Makes me laugh when I think about starting her on solids, she's so tiny. Ironically prem babies tend to start solids a little earlier than term babies.

On the developmental side she's only just 3 weeks so hopefully she will start smiling for me soon.

I hope everyone is ok. I miss chatting to you all.

Lots of hugs to everyone and little ones

Jo

Jo: I'm so glad that you started a thread for us 2nd trimester gals. I miss talking to everyone. I'm glad to hear that Ellie is out of the hospital and gaining weight nicely. Andrew is a handful....................he does not want to nap during the day. It is very difficult to get anything done around here. I am still in my jammies and it is 12:30pm here! I have my 6 week OB appt. today, as Andrew will be 6 weeks old this Wed. I'm ready to start back with a workout routine at my gym. We went to my parents for Easter yesterday and it was nice. With my sisters and nieces and mother, it gave me a break. I even brought some frozen breast milk with me and my sister fed the little guy. I never knew that breast feeding would be so much work! Andrew wants to eat just about every 2 hours if he is awake. He really is getting chunky.

Hello to Vita, Kareen, Haley, Zoe and Justine and anyone that I have missed.

Take care all,
Tammy

im fine... just trying to get rid of the weight i put on... :( .. it seems ive no time to exercise though...lol..

andrew and katie are doing really well.... during the day they are feeding every 4 hours and by 9.30pm they go to bed and thats them until 8am... so far so good... i tryed them on a little baby rice... katie loves it... andrew does too but squeals as spoon feeding isnt fast enough...lol..
i only give them a little, normally half hour before thier 4pm feed...
i must admit, they are good babies though normally around 7pm seems to be thier un-settled time....
they are both smiling and full of chit-chat....which is funny... andrew,i think is going to be cheeky... when he smiles he sticks his tounge out...he is also starting to giggle...he is very ticklish... katie just smiles and her baby chat is very light......
ive posted some pictures of them on photobucket....

Hey Ladies

Thanks Jo for setting this up, I have missed everyone!

Jo I am so glad to hear that Ellie is back home again and I will keep everything crossed for her to remain there. It sounds like she is doing well and is certainly putting on weight. Love the pictures, she is beautiful.

Tammy, Andrew is just gorgeous too, a real little man. I know what you mean about the daytime sleeping. Griffin has mastered the art of the power nap and rarely sleeps for longer than 20 minutes at a time. I have given up on trying to make him sleep longer as it was frustrating for both of us. I am grateful that he sleeps well at night...well, he only wakes for 4 hourly feeds and is generally back asleep within 20 minutes. I have just resigned myself to the fact that I will get nothing done during the day.

Kareen, sounds like you little people are doing really well...I can't believe the nighttime sleeping...well done!! They are both awfully cute. I have also been trying to exercise but all I can manage is a short walk each day...I am hoping that running up and down the stairs all day doing washing will help!

Griffin is going for his 2 month shots today and I am not looking forward to it. I am making daddy take him in as I don't think I would be able to bare it. I am loving being a mum and I cannot fathom why I waited so long. Griffin is pretty happy and full of smiles and rarely cries unless he is starving!! I will post some new piccies on photobucket when I get a moment.

Hope everyone else is doing great....obviously everyone is really preoccupied but I look forward to hearing how you are all going.

Have a great week.

Cheers

Hello my lovelies - it's good to hear how you're all doing! :D

Life is busy and tiring - but great. Ollie is a wee monkey and keeping us on our toes. He is MUCH more demanding than Sam ever was and I can't believe how hard it is with two!!!!

Our Ollie is a very lazy feeder and has been since day one. He refuses to take a bottle despite all our efforts and is still wee at 11lb 2 oz today - he's 17 weeks. He just doesn't seem to like milk and gets bored very easily!!! He refuses to breast feed front ways so I have to do it under arm - those who are b/feeding can imangine how restricting this is so we're kind of tied to where and when we go out...He's putting on about 4oz a week so I just think he's going to be tall and skinny. 8) Tried him on very milky baby rice last week to see if that makes a difference... Not to weight, but he likes it and it beats topping him up with a syringe on that feed. I SOOOOOOOOOOOO hope he'll not be fussy on solids and am desperatley trying to keep him on milk for as long as possible but I'm knackered. Feedings great when it goes well, but I'm ready for bottles now!!!!!!!! I'm going to try a cup soon. hahahaha.

Anyway, when he smiles - the whole room lights up and I think we're over the worst... Or so my HV tells me. He's a real mummies boy - quite the opposite from what his brother was - so I'm loving it.

Jo - fantastic to hear wee Ellie is doing so great and her weight sounds fab. You've done well girlie and so has that wee gem of yours. You've had a right time of it and I hope you are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. You wait til she's smiling - everything will melt away. It terms of her lungs - is that to be a lifelong issue - I don't know much about lung problems... Hope you are looking after yourself...

Kareen - You sound great - bet sleeping through the night helps  Oh you, lucky, lucky woman!!!! Your 2 sound like they're fabby - you're doing great too.

Tammy - with you on the difficult front girl! Can't believe you are contemplating the gym - well done. I'm also still in my jammies (11.54am) but hey, I never seem to be out of them. LOL

Heather - good luck with the jabs. Ollie has his last ones next Tuesday. He's miserable after them, so I'm glad it's the last!!

Take care everyone. It hard to find the time these days - I'm going to make more of an effort!!

Hello Ladies:

Zoe: Wow, Ollie is a wee one. Andrew was 11 lbs around 4 weeks old.
He wants to eat all of the time. It does take a lot of energy to keep up with them!!

Heather:
Thanks for the comment on Andrew. It is so tiring isn't it when they will not sleep?

Andrew is calling me, so I'd better go.

Bye to all,
Tammy

Hello everyone

Hope you are all well. We are good. Ellie's managed to stay out of hospital since my last post! This morning she weighed in at 8lb 15.8oz! Little lardy! I started her on solids last weekend. They wanted me to wait until 24 weeks (and they start prems earlier than term babies) but I couldn't wait as she needed it. She loves her grub but still wanting to be fed every 3/4 hours even during the night!

She started smiling last Saturday which was wonderful. She looks so pretty. I must remember to take some recent photos of her. She's got hardly any hair now!

Despite being like a zombie and Paul being as helpful as a chocolate fireguard I'm enjoying every moment of her. She cries but hardly at all. She's quite a happy little thing. Bought her a bumbo chair today (as she weighed in just over 4 kilos)! Looks a bit like a rubber potty so will make sure it's away when we start that - long long way off!

Emma was 5 two weeks ago and Jodie was 4 yesterday. They are both really happy and extremely helpful. Alice is Alice. Don't know if I told you but Paul kicked Hannah out about a month or so ago. She is really happy though. Enjoying her independance. She's at a halfway house and really loving it. Just me that's sad.

Not got time for personals but I think of you all often. Hope you and your baby/ies are doing well.

Take care

Jo

Hello Ladies,

WOW its been soooo long since i have posted.... Im so glad everyone is doing really well...I cant believe we are all mommies and for some of you mommies again~

My babies are doing wonderful..they are so cute... My precious little girl Leila is now at 12lbs, Matteo is 14lbs and Giovani is 12lbs as well.
THey are getting so big its amazing how time goes by so quickly once they are born. as for me i still look like im 7 months pregnant, i dont know how to get rid of this huge belly, its really gross, let me explain why, first its alllllllllll stretch marks, then we have a bunch of skin hanging from underneath my belly button and above my belly button its really hard and sticking out like they forgot to take a fourth child out (lol). I am really miserable with the weight coming off so slowly... i dont know what to do...Any suggestions would be reallllllllllllly appreciated.

THe babies are on a 3 hour schedule, all they do is eat, poop, sleep, cry...
none of them have slept through the night just yet...(Kareen i envy you darling). the longest they slept was 4-5hours straight.
One of my babies has really bad acid reflux so he feeds small amounts very often....im always awake, i have become a zombie.. but i love my life and the way i have been blessed its amazing.. I havent posted a pic as my husband gets upset if i do, but if you are interested PM and i will email one to you!

Nice to know everyone is doing well, miss you all dearly... we all need to meet one day!

Hello Everyone,

Vita: It is good to hear from you. You babies are progressing nicely. Andrew had his 2 month appt. yesterday and weighted in at 14 lbs 8 oz which is >95 percentile. His length was 24.25" (90 percentile) and his head circumference was in the 90 percentile as well. I would love to see photos of your babies.
My email address is: twampler-heinzen@insightbb.com.
He is still feeding every 2-2.5 hours during the day, but is able to sleep one 4-5 hours shift at night, thank goodness!! I too have not lost all of my baby weight. It came off quickly in the beginnining, but I still have 5 more lbs to lose. My stomach is flabby as well. I need to start doing ab exercises. I wish there was a quick fix.

Jo: Ellie seems to be progressing wonderfully!! Isn't it wonderful when they smile?? It melts my heart. Andrew has even laughed on occasion. My older sister is good at making him laugh. He is my world!

Justine: Nice to hear that you and Nicholas are doing well. Andrew had his 2 month shots yesterday. It was difficult for me. I had to turn away and let DH hold his little hands. He just cried and sobbed. It was like someone was sticking a knife in my heart.

Zoe: I started a stroller (pram) class at the YMCA. It incorporates lunges, leg lifts, jogging, etc. When DH signed me up for it, I thought that it would be nothing more than a stroll along the track with my stroller and little Andrew. I have enjoyed it as it gets me out and with other mothers. Of course, I'm the oldest mother there, as most are in there late twenties/early thirties. I hope Ollie is doing well.

Heather: I hope Griffin is doing well.

Kareen: How are the twins doing?

Hello to Hayley and anyone that I have missed.

Regards,
Tammy

Kareen,

Please tell me what you did to get your babies to sleep the whole night through???? mine are 4 months old and hardly sleeping 3 hours straight through the night, im so exhausted, and just now this week, they are acting so fussy during the day, all they want to do is be held and unfortunately i dont have 3 arms to hold all three...im so lost and confused im wondering if im doing anything wrong, someone help me.
this is our schedule:
go to bed at 9 and wake at 12am
feed at 12 and wake at 3

it conitnues all day long this way, all i ever do is feed, endlessly, one after the other... someone please guide me in the right direction...
Is there a reason why they just wont sleep through the night at least??

Sorry guys im just so tierd, i sound like an awful mother whos complaining, im really not, im just lost and need help.

thanks,
vita

Yeah woohoo sorry im excited to see you all here...ok i know i shouldnt be here but of course i had to stop by and say Image to you all.

Vita sweetie first your doing amazing with three babies..hugs... i do know a trick or two for getting some sleep at night...first one is give aunty p 6 pre made bottles and have yourself a good 8 hours sleep  ...failing that try an extra scoop in the last bottle at night should buy you at least an extra two hours if not more...if your not brave enough to do a full scoop try a half it fills them up a bit...as for the fussy need to be held i could help with two (picture this) you wrap one in a sheet around your front tied at the back carry the other in a baby carrier on your back...i have done this and i promise you can get all your house work done...LOL ooo do i sound like a really bad aunty...i promise they all grew up really well adjusted

it's so good to see you all.....loads of love Aunty

Vita my friend - you are doing brilliantly and certainly doing nothing wrong...

I can't imagine what it's like with 3 and I bet you are run ragged. Take heart though - it will get better.

My Ollie was still up every hour and a half at one point (15 odd weeks) and I was tearing my hair out - then one night it stopped... don't know what was different - it just did.

Make sure you are looking after yourself anyway - find a few minutes for yourself if you can....

Tammy - well done you on the class. I can believe how time is passing.... Ollie's great - I must send you a piccy....

Hope all you other girls are well - busy I'm sure LOL

Hello Ladies:

Vita: You poor thing. I think every baby is different. Andrew is 2.5 months old and has just started to sleep longer than 5 hours at night. He still feeds every 1.5 - 3 hrs during the day!! One night you will wake up and wonder what is wrong and realize the little ones slept longer than usual.

Zoe: A picture of Ollie would be nice. I have posted a photo of Andrew below. He is growing like a weed!!

Hello to everyone else.
