Query - 3rd attempt IVF

Hello girls, I'm due to start my 3rd IVF attempt in Jan with a view to egg collection beginning Feb. I'm having my treatment at Leeds. I went yesterday for nurse consultation and to sort out the start date for suppression injections. However, they told me that I cannot start my injections on the 1st day of my cycle as there is no slot for egg collection the week I would need it. They have told me to take the oral contraceptive pill for the first 9 days of my cycle and then to start my suppression injections and then the timing will fit in better with the clinic lists. Has anyone else done this? Good luck to everyone on 2ww and congratulations to those who have been successful, Cathy

Hi Cathy, Can't say I've heard of this before but then different units seem to have different procedures. I've always started my down regulation on day 21 but there seems to be more and more places doing day 1 starts! I'm not sure how they can say they won't have a slot for ec for you as not everyone down regulates in the usual time. Di

hihi cathy i did not have the pill first ivf attempt but developed a cyst which had to be removed before they continued with treatment. the 2 and 3rd attempt i was put on the 21 day pill before treatment started. i am in the process of having my 4th treatment and as i wanted to fit it in before xmas they put me on the pill for just 12days so it would fit in before they close for xmas. hope this helps alisonn [Edited by alisonn on 18-Dec-03 14:54]

Hi Cathy I had exactly the same worry when my dr put me on the pill for 19 dyas following a -ive result and the beginning of my next cycle. We wanted to do another cycle straight away and the dates didn't work out with xmas and everything and so we did the pill and a shorter protocol. Currently on 2ww, test on the 31st!! love lisa x
