Spotting versus Bleeding

Hi,
I am to go into have my bloodtest tomorrow morning. I took a HPT this morning and it was positive (not faint but not really strong). Then I started bleeding. It is brown in colour and comes and goes, along with cramps. does this mean that I am getting my period?

Has anyone had the same symptoms and ended up pregnant? I am terrified to get the call tomorrow and hear that the test is negative because this is my 4th IVF cycle and I was really convinced it worked this time.

kelly try and relax. I will tell you that I have spot bleed since day 1, I believe all the extra hormones they give us are responsible since I did not bleed with my other two. Everytime it freaks me out I go to doctor and he says not to worry it is my "fryable" cervix.

Hi,

Since I posted the original message my spotting got much heavier. I felt like I was having my period. So, I was convinced that I was going to have sad news when the clinic called today (I had my bloodtest this morning). Well... it BFP!!!! I can hardly believe it. I know I've read that women have had a period and still been pregnant but I didn't think that would happen to me. It has taken so long to get here I can hardly believe I am one of the lucky ones!!!

I have to go in again on Saturday so I won't feel fully confident until I hear that my beta has doubled.

In the meantime, I'll just enjoy my pregnancy!!!!

I was curious how you are getting along. I have been having cramping and spotting during the end of my 2ww and am concerned. Any updates??

Hi Sher8,

Well, I went back to my clinic for my second beta test and found out that I had miscarried. Of course I was devastated because it was my second chemical pregnancy. I am waiting for my appointment with the clinic to get some answers - why is this happening?

A cycle buddy who I met on this forum went through the same bleeding but hers was heavier much quicker than mine. Anyway, she found out that she is pregnant and her numbers have doubled so she is in good shape.

So, really bleeding doesn't give you any indication whether you are pregnant or not. Hang in there. When is your bloodtest?e

My bloodtest was today and got a negative. I really did not have any preganancy signs so I was prepared for this. You are right, though, there is a possiblity to bleed and still be pregnant. My clinic said that you really just have to wait for the blood test before getting too caught up on the bleeding or spotting.

I did feel the embryo held on for awhile, but I think it did not make it through the weekend. It is really wierd to know this, but just a gut feeling.

I hope that you get some answers as to what is going on. Your doctor should have some history on you now that they would be able to provide you with the best protocol.

It may not ease you, but I find a negative at this point is much better than weeks into the pregnancy.

I am so sorry to hear about your negative. Even though 99% of you may know/think you aren't pregnant there is always a small percentage that hopes you are wrong. So, a negative is always a disappointment even if you are prepared for it!

I am glad to hear that you are going to try again. I am going to wait to hear what my doctor says today and then we'll see. I have 3 embryos frozen (the first time in 4 cycles) but I think I'd like to do one more fresh cycle - hopefully producing more embryos to add to the ones already frozen - before using the frozen ones. We'll see what happens.

Best of luck to you Kelly. So nice to know you have that many frozen. And you are sooo right on about the glimmer of hope. We have a consult with our doctor before our next fresh cycle.
