IUI Preparation

Hi! I would like to know what is needed to prepare one self for an intrauterine insemination? How long should the bed rest be before and after the procedure? Thank you!

Hi there, I have previously had 7 IUI's, unfortunately have now had to go on to IVF, but I was always told after the initial rest of about 20mins immediately following the procedure, you could carry on just as normal. I know different clinics offer different advice and with IVF I was told to take it very easy, but with IUI I always just carried on as normal. My very first IUI was successful and I have a beautiful daughter but the 7 goes since have unfortunately not worked for me. When are you due for the procedure?

Hi I'm currently on my 2ww following my second diui treatment. The first cycle I was told to be up and about straight away, this time I was left to rest for 15 mins. Research says it really doesn't matter but it did make me feel better. Wishing you all the best with your iui love lisa x

Thanks for the advice. My procedure was done this morning. This is my 3rd IUI. My 1st procedure didn't come out positive, but the 2nd procedure did. However, it was a failed pregnancy. I've been resting the whole day just to be on the safe side if that even makes or will make a difference. Although the RNP said that I can be back on normal activity. I'm just trying to relax and not think about it too much, despite the feeling of tenderness in my lower abdomen. Thanks again.... *-*Dineah

hi in pregnant after my 3rd diui was told to lie down for 10 mins after and then carry on as normal however i used come home and lie down for around 3 hrs good luck diane

hi again one thing i did notice on each one was when iwas in bed around 1 am i woke up with stomach cramp but it only lasted a few mins on the one that worked i had it done around 10 am and at 8pm when i went to work i had stomach ache and was really bloated and felt full of wind,sorry for so much detail but if you are like me i like to no every little thing

i don't mind the full details, i'd like to know every detail as well. i am having the same feeling. i was just not sure how to put it into words, but yeah the feeling of bloatedness and full of air in the stomach is what i'm having now. this is normal i assume??? but how long does this feeling last. thanks again!

hi dinah i only had the boating and wind the 3rd time when it worked and it lasted till i done my test about 2 half weeks, i went to turkey on holiday the day after treatment and my stomach was huge all the time i was there did you have a nat cycle or did you have some drugs? i had nat love di

i was on some drugs to stimulate my ovulation. i guess i just have to bare the discomfort for a couple of weeks. hopefully just like yours, it'll turn out positive. Congratulations!!! Happy Holidays to you and your family.... Will this be your first pregnancy?
