Am I miscarrying?

Post by hhb »

I am 9 weeks pregnant with twins. I have had lower abdominal pain (separate from the normal stretching, pulling, growing pains) that I've had in previous pregnancies. I have had one miscarriage where I did have pain. I've had some bloody mucus each day, on and off for a week. I've had two ultrasounds since Thursday and both showed perfect heartbeats and dated exactly where I am. I talked to my OB today who said it could be the beginning of a m/c and the signs just haven't appeared on any ultrasound yet, or it could be the placentas settling into my uterus, etc. (can't remember his exact words but I understood).

I'm just wondering if anyone else (with or without twins) has had pain and not miscarried? What about bloody mucus? I'm not really "spotting" as spotting usually goes...it's been mucusy each time (sorry if TMI). This is my first IVF so I'm just not sure if anything changes from conceiving naturally (I have a 5 year old son from conceiving naturally so I can compare a little bit).

I'm just so worried and scared and pissed. He wants me to come in for a heartbeat check this week and said we'll monitor them weekly if necessary. I'm just really nervous.

Thanks in advance-

Heidi~ So sorry for your worry and scare. I hope that it will only be spotting in the end. I have only had one incident of spotting so I'm sorry I can't be of more help but I understand your worry. I would honestly think that if you were having a m/c with either twin you would see signs on the u/s. I don't understand how they could both be so great on u/s and you could be m/cing?

Either way, I will be thinking of you and your babies until we get your sigh of relief. Think positive and try to relax and take it easy until you quit spotting. In the mean time there will be TONS of prayers, hugs, and healthy baby vibes on their way to you!

Take care Heidi!!!
