Hello ladies

Just a quick update - our donor has egg pick up tomorrow (Wednesday), DH has a job to do tomorrow, and then we have them put back in on either Friday or Saturday!!! Whoopeee.

Is it okay for me to go away after it is done on should it be done on Saturday? We have something to go to which involves me sitting around on my backside all day but outdoors. (DH has an all day mountain biking thing to ride in).

Marcia: Faint positive?? Wooooo Hoooo!! How nice that it was on your dh's b-day! I have been feeling pretty sick especially after I eat. But it is all worth it right? I keep telling myself that!

OK quick post today my computer keeps shutting down on me!!!! I got my second HCG back yesterday and it's 481 I am really excited about that!!! I dont understand when I get on here and see girls who are 2000 and 7000 how that doesnt mean anything different? but ok ok im not comparing, Im not comparing Im happy with what I have, but I am comparing a little =) I cant help it!!!!

I have my 1st Dr. appt on Thursday and I am hoping for a 1st of May surgery date. I will keep you girls posted! Sorry I am not online very much but it is still really hard and I need a IVF break, that is all I have been thinking about for 6 months!

Mama~ You numbers are great...stop stressing, not good for the baby!!! You are prego with a healthy baby and that is the important issue not the number. I am so happy for you and enjoy the next 8 months!!!

Hi Girls

A wee bit gutted today. Our brave little donor only produced three eggs - although we are happy to get any, I think they expected more. The follicles on the scan had shown about 12.
So, DH done his bit and it is all up to nature with the help of our clinic. I am not feeling so confident now....

OK I just got a late call from our clinic saying that 481 isn't such a good number, I dont understand what is going on??? she says they want to monitor me more closely and keep checking my beta's because the number is not going up fast enough she thinks there might be a problem, she asked me if it still feel pregnant?? what is that??? I dont know I havnt really felt pregnant to begin with !! I just dont know what to do I cant stop crying but I know at this point I shouldnt stress and Its probably the worst thing to do but how can they give me news like that?? right when we got excited thinking everything was fine now here they are telling us it might not be,I dont know what to think, I know the numbers are supposed to double every other day or every third day and mine did so whats the problem?? I looked at the beta base website and it doesnt make things any better, it looks like im supposed to be in the 3000 about now and IM nowhere near, I dont know what to think at this point all i can do is just wait till the morning to get our numbers and just hope and pray they have gone up like crazy over night!!! Thanks for letting me vent!

Everyone who is past 5 weeks of pregnancy, what was your HCG level on or around 5 weeks?? Im trying to go through all the post and compare but it would be eaisier just to ask?? I cant stop stressing about this now that I heard "there might be a problem" so if anyone remembers their numbers around this time it would help so much!!! Thanks!

Wish me luck tomorrow ladies. OMG my 2ww hell is almost over. I would say the worst part of my IVF cycle is this 2ww in the last couple of days I've been feeling up and down. I just can't wait to hear the outcome tomorrow if it's bad or good...Hopefully it's good . I've been having weird crampings on my tummy, feeling twinges, swollen areola, and nipples getting really dark, but maybe this are all from proges. who knows. I guess I'll find out tommorrow, and let you all know ASAP. This morning I was really tempted to POAS but I convinced my self not too. My blood test is at 9:00 AM, my clinic will call me in the afternoon. Keep everything crossed...

Marcia- Faint line wooo...hooo..that's really good sign. I'm so excited to you. Thanks Anie - I just about cried when I heard but am trying to stay positive and am grateful to even get one! As you said it only takes one!

The embryologist said there was no way to tell how good our three eggs are at this stage - I need to ring her tomorrow. However, she said they looked good, but of course she warned me that this is no inidication.

OK Natalie, I know you're worried but I also think the people at your clinic are incredibly stupid!!!! First of all, they should explain things more clearly, and secondly, asking if you feel prego is about the most braindead thing I've ever heard! I mean, there are of course ladies who start getting strong symptoms very early but for most it takes a little while - at 5 weeks it's not unusual to feel pretty normal and not pregnant at all. I got my first symptoms at around 6 weeks and they never got very strong anyway. Everyone's different! There may be cause for worry if initially strong symptoms go away very, very early, but that's clearly not the case with you. So forget about that part.

As for the beta, the 2000s and 7000s are numbers where you end up later - think about it, if all goes "normally" and the numbers double every 2-3 days, it really doesn't take long to get there! If you had 7000 HCG right now I would really worry!!!! Again, don't compare your number to anyone else's, as everyone's different and ALL that matters is how the numbers go up. The different sites that quote HCG ranges for each week of pregnancy vary in how reliable they are, but most reasonable sites list your HCG as pretty much anything between 100 and 2000 at this point, depending on your own speed and if you're a late or an early starter. There's no way to know and I never found any help in those.

Now what your clinic probably DOES (and of course SHOULD) look at right now is the rate at which your HCG goes up. Your first number was under 200 and now you were way over 400 so it has more than doubled. How many days in between the blood tests? When I got my second beta back, it hadn't doubled but had gone up by only about 75%. My clinic said not to panic but had to retest in yet another two days. That time the rate of growth was even slower, about 67% in two days. I panicked even more, although the nurse said the RE Ok'd it and said welcome to your first scan in three weeks. Many sites and people had told me my numbers should double every two days and they clearly weren't - and on the other hand my very professional and skilled RE said all was well. I did eventually find some sites that said doubling in three days is OK too and nothing to worry about - again, everyone is different. Most reliable sites actually seemed to agree that 66%+ rise every two days is just fine. MY RE's attitude and the new info made me feel a little bit better but I still called my OB, who said that actually even 60% in two days is usually fine - and again, not to worry and not to compare to others. It is when your HCG clearly isn't going up, is going up just marginally or starts coming down that you know there's probably a big problem. Beyond that, HCGs themselves cannot tell us much. Knowing someone else's beta at 5 weeks will NOT help you.

I know you're worried and that's completely understandable. What you need to do right now is talk to your clinic, demand a proper answer and check out your beta dates - did your numbers double in about three days? If so, the third beta is probably just making sure, just like my clinic did. I also noticed that the nurses really don't always know about these numbers and the latest stats that much - I relied on the doctors, stats given by them and my own math skills . Taking a third beta is in no way a conviction - they just want to be very, very thorough. And that's good, right? Forget about being in the high thousands now - you simply don't go there straight from under 200 and if you did, there would probably be cause to worry.

I hope your numbers look good in the light of what I just wrote - I'm so sorry hun but I cannot remember how many days you had in between the tests. Let me know what the clinic says and how fast the HCG has gone up so far. I hope it's all good. Hang in there!!!!

EDIT: I noticed now your numbers DID double every 2-3 days (sorry, I read your post too quickly at first) so no worries hon!!! That's great. Your clinic just wants to make sure, mine did too - but it's standard procedure - they told me they do it all the time. There are of course no guarantees but if your rise continues like this, you're in the clear!!! I know it's nerve wrecking - I kept asking myself why I couldn't be one of those girl whose numbers doubled in two days or even faster and didn't have to wait for yet another beta, but hey, we're all different, I'm me and as a reward I didn't have to throw up once during the shrt m/s period I liked being different there Courage, hon, and forget about the 3000. You'll be there soon enough if you continue at that rate!!!

Mama: I am 5 weeks and I have a beta tomorrrow so I will let you know. I agree with Rae what is wrong with your clinic? My clinic said no matter what the beta level is as long as it doubles every few day the baby is doing what it is supposed to. I know my numbers will be higher than yours but mine started a lot higher.

Fiji: Only positive thoughts! I only had 2 that could be transfered and I am pregnant!

Mama first im with Rae how stupid is your nurse! please don't panic your numbers sound fine in fact they are pretty much the same as mine, my beta 12days post tranfer was 168 then another beta at 15days was 458 and then my 3rd when i had a bit of a bleed at i think at 22 days was 6755, and i have always been told my numbers were really good hence why i have felt sick no stop for the last 2 days.
