Is a false negative possible?

Post by hopeful_dad »

I know this is really not reasonable but...

had a BFN yesterday after our 2ww. We were a little surprised as we had some very good embryos transferred, my wife had some spotting and mild cramping and then it cleared up and there was no sign of her period coming...

I am guessing the progesterone is stopping her period from coming.

Is it even possible to have a BFN though and then find out a few days later that you are pregnant.

Probably just trying hard to not face the sad reality right now :(

I am so sorry to hear of your negative result. I don't have any personal experience with a false negative, so I can't speak to that. Just wanted to say I am so sorry for this one. I sincerely wish you and your wife the best of luck.

I'm sorry for your news. If they did a blood HCG level then it is neg. If they did a urine pregnancy test the there can be false negatives. Don't give up hope. Many of us go through several cycles until we hit the lucky one. Best wishes for the future.

Hi
I can understand what you are going through . But if you have waited for 2w and a blood hormonal test was done(not the home pregnancy test) then there is hardly any chance for the test to be wrong .
I have been through many iui cycles and each time when it used to come -ve after 2ww i used to think may be the test result is wrong and could be +ve after one more week .
Sorry to hear that .

yeah. I figured there was no chance it was wrong... HPT showed negative yesterday also.

I think we were naive in trying to be so optimistic!

Thanks for your kind words.
