Twin Pregnancy Questions

Post by Fed7281 »

Hi All,

I was hoping that some expecting twin mommies would be able to answer a few questions for me. I am having a hard time dealing with this pregnancy. I am not complaining but I have not had a day where I have felt OK. I am either nausous, have heart burn or now I have this pressure type pain in my lower abdomen. I am hoping that this new pain is normal. It feels heavy. I dont know how to explain it. I am sorry if it seems like I am complaining, but I it is just hard to feel like crap everyday! Any advice or words of wisdom would be appreciated. Also if anyone has expirenced the pain that I explained can you share your stories.

Thanks for listening!
Erin

I am sorry to hear about all your symptoms and that you are not able to enjoy this phase of pregnancy. I too am expecting twins and though I don't have any of your symptoms, I certainly have plenty of others. I have major constipation, I'm tired and hungry all the time, bad headaches and I find my-self complaining to my husband that I don't understand how women can claim they love being pregnant when I feel awful most of the time. I do hope these lessen as the weeks go by, but I am now 10 weeks and it has not been any better.

Sweetie you are not alone!!! I am so sick all day and night! You are not alone. I also feel alot going on in my tummy. Yesterday my midwife and OB both explained that this is completely normal. You have to remember with twins that your uterus is growing much faster and larger then a normal pregnancy.

I wish I could give you some pointers on the nausea. I have nothing that has really taken it away. The only time I feel good is after a huge meal. Do this 3 times a day and it is piling on the pounds. I have already gained 9 pounds and I'll be in my 10th week romorrow. YIKES!!!

Hang in there!!

Being pregnant with twins is hard! I still have a big problem with heartburn. Rolaids and Tums do nothing. The only thing that works for me is Pepcid, which is more expensive but worth it! As for nausea, Zofran works well but you need a prescription for that.

The pain in your lower abdomen is normal. Your uterus is growing and your ligaments are stretching, so you will feel a lot of weird aches and pains down there.

I wish I could tell you it will get better but the problems in early pregnancy are replaced with other ones the farther along you get. Of course, some people do really well and have almost no problems despite carrying twins.

I don't want to be ungrateful and I am so glad to be having these babies, but I can't wait until they are here and I am done being pregnant!

Hi Erin,

Th others girls have explained it exactly, and unfortunately there's not a lot you can do. I'm 28 weeks with twins and can honestly say that it has been a nightmare. I am still vomitting each morning (have been hospitalised with it!) have aches in my groin and lower back and last night had my first contraction....not nice. I have cried so many times about why I decided to do this and feel guilty that I am not grateful that I had sucess where others have failed. I have been angry at friends and family who "lied" to me when they said that being pregnant was amazing.

But when people ask me when I due (cos I'm huge and look like I could give birth at any moment) and I tell them not for a while but its twins, and they get so excited, I am over the moon. I could hug myself I am so ecstatic that I have been so lucky to have an instant family! Complete strangers squeal with delight when they hear its two and it lifts my spirits so much! Then I know that the crap and discomfort of being pregnant with twins will be so worth it in the end and I have to just ride it out.

Having said all that. Would I do it again? Probably not. But I love my two little angels and can't wait to meet them. Wait until you get to 18 weeks and you feel them kick and move. You will identify with them and start to love them and forgive them for the trauma they are putting your body through.

Best of luck,
Em
