Hi hrobinson,

I will be starting my first IVF cycle in May, actually starting Lupron on May 21 or 22nd depending on when my flow starts in April. I am happy to be your cycle buddy. I am doing IVF because of tubal issues I just had both removed last week, still recovering, was not that bad only the first 3 days. I will have my class on the meds on the 23rd of April.

Hi everybody,
i am scheduled for egg retrieval on wed 4/18.Today is my last day for shot-hcg.According to my RE there were 6 follicles,I was on stims for one week only, which i think may be less but i guess one good embryo is good enough to get pregnant.Right...
Just wanted to check on everybody else.
Vlada and Jen how are u progressing?

I start stims tonight and go to my RE on Saturday to get checked. I'm nervous and excited about the whole thing. I'll be using Gonal and Repronex. At this point they're also having my husband start an antibiotic. I was wondering why they does this and if that's standard practice everywhere? Anyway, good luck Tanu with your retieval, I know there's a good one in there!!! Keep us posted.

Lupron

Post by StephanieD »

Hi all,

Hope everyone is having luck with their cycle. I finally get to start lupron tomorrow! Unfortunately, I'm going to have to give myself the injection at work (ok, since I'm a nurse). I was just wondering if you have to take the lupron the same time every day (similar to the birth control) or do you have a little bit of slack?

Good luck to all! Spreading the baby dust!

Regarding lupron:
My RE had mentioned lupron can be taken anytime between 6am till noon,it is not time sensitive. The only reason they say to take at the same time is so that you remember it on daily basis. same applies to BCP also as well as all other stim medications. The only medication abt particular time factor is HCG,has to been taken as per your RE instruction time.THats it..

Hello,
I am on day 5th of my stims and apparently i am responding well because my doc had to reduce my meds ( i am on follistim) from 225 iu to 80 iu a day. So far I have about 20 follies and my doc has also increased my lupron so I won't ovulate accidentaly. My ER might be moved up to this coming sunday instead of monday. This is my update, good luck to everyone !!!!!!

Wow Vlada, I'd say that your stimulated!! Hope it continues to go well for you.
Does anybodies insurance cover IVF? Ours doesn't because its not medically necassary. I'm just curious if this is the case for most people?

Hi Vlada,
Thats nice you have responded well to the medications.20 follicles sounds great.
Hi Jenjen220,
My ins is covering ivf. thats the reason i am getting done. i stay in nj. but well this is going to be my last try of fresh cycle. the only next hope is going to be FET. thats it for me . All state have different ins plans abt ivf coverage. you should check the laws of your state you live in.

Yeah Jenjen our also covers uptp 100,000 on IVF and meds are covered under our drug plan. Without it we would not be doing this just yet.

Hope all is well.

Hello,
JenJen, our insurance doesn't cover IVF either, so we have to come up with money out pocket for everything. :(

I must admit I'm jealsous of those whose insurance covers their IVF. I'm pretty sure my state law doesn't require it. I remember looking into it a few years ago when we began this process. It probably doesn't matter if I live in Idaho but drive to Utah for treatment does it? It probably just the state you reside in. Anyway, I just hope it works for us because we can't afford to do this over and over again. It did help that my clinic gave me a Gonal-F pen for free that saved me about $1,000 :D
Good Luck to everyone in the coming weeks, it's so exciting!!

Hi All,

I am new to this board and also to IVF procedure. This is my first IVF and i am starting with follistim from tomorrow. Its great to have a forum like this where we can share our experience and feelings. Hope this will help me in my further treatments.

Just a little background of myself. I am 28 and iam diagnosed with 'unexplained infertility'. I took clomid for 3 cycles and 3 IUI and finally going with IVF. We aretrying for a baby for around 2 years.

Hi everybody,
Just a curious question. How much does it cost to all Whose insurance doesn't cover ivf.
today i had egg retrieval. 6 follicles were retrieved. Last time which was 3-4 years back i got 11 follicles. i think this time to be too less. but i personally feel my RE had put me on lower dose of stim.Last time i was taking follistsm and Repronex and one more which i don't remember. This time i had gonal for 7 days and menuper three times a week only. Does that matter.my transfer will be on 4/21 or 4/23.I really hope all 6 fertilise because i don;t have enough left.

Hi Tanu,
It will probably end up costing us about 13 thousand for IVF ICSI, and this does include medications but doesn't include the preliminary tests.
Vlada.
