Anie, I'm so sorry about your BFN
Natalie, I'm glad if anything I was able to tell you helped, even a little bit. That's what these forums are for, right

Now hearing that you had FOUR days in between your tests I can see why they wanted your numbers to go up a little faster - the rise is borderline compared to the known stats, but of course no one can say for sure where the limit goes. Your new result sounds very good, though - you're now definitely within the normal limits for HCG rise - so I'm having a very hard time understanding why your clinic is so unhappy with this... The first rise was a bit low, yes, but it seems to be picking up now - I don't know what they're expecting! maybe they just want it to shoot through the roof... When I had my "extra" beta the HCG had gone up even slower than the first time - and they said it was fine, they just wanted to check that the first slow rise wasn't because it had first gone up and then already started coming down - and the continued rise, albeit just 67% in two days, showed that it was not going down or rising super-slowly (e.g. going from 420 to 500 would indicate an almost certain problem). And they explained (because I had of course hoped for the numbers to shoot through the roof the second time...) that it's not likely - I'm going at my pace and that's fine - as long as there is that doubling every three days. Which turned out to be so true.
I'm glad you've been happy with your clinic so far, but now they are not being professional at all - all those I'm sorrys and insisting that you double and then when you finally do saying it's not enough... makes me so angry for you, you don't deserve that kind of uncertainty and confusion!! Now I'm obviously not a doctor, so I can only tell you what I've found out from reliable (medical) sources and what both my doctors told me when I was going through a similar thing. I hope it helps and gives you hope, but I strongly recommend that you now demand to talk to your doctor and make him/her really explain to you what they're expecting, what is happening, what are the chances etc. Don't let him/her off the hook before you feel
absolutely certain that all your questions have been answered in a satisfactory manner. At the same time I would recommend giving, nicely and politely of course, feedback on the strange practices of their staff and nurses - how they give people news, how they explain that news, how they SHOULD NOT come and commiserate with you when you don't even know what's going on yourself. I know it's not always easy to give negative feedback but this is important - they should not do this to you or anyone else ever, and they're professionals and have to be able to receive feedback on their work. Plus, if you're like most others here, you're probably paying an arm and a leg for this service - service that you're not getting now. Demand your rights because no one else will do it for you!!!
I truly hope this will turn out alright for you. Like I said, to me your last numbers sound fine, but your doctor will be able to tell you more. Don't talk to the nurses anymore, they are clearly just making it worse. There are obviously no guarantees of a successful pregnancy (there aren't any even if your HCG is going up "perfectly") but I'm very hopeful for you. Hang in there, I know it's extremely tough.
A big hug!!! Oh, and don't stress about being stressed - I did too for a little while but finlly it got too overwhelming. A little stress won't kill the baby but stressing about it more will just make you feel worse. I'm not going to say think positive because that's annoying, but try to do something really pleasant every day, even if you don't really feel like it. It will, eventually, allow your mind and body rest a bit. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!
Sorry, I don't have a myspace.
Sha, thanks - and can't wait for your scan news! Oh, what a beautiful thing it is, seeing the little thing for the first time....
