Successful IVF Cycle

Post by ttcwaldo »

Hi Ladies,
I just completed my 5th IVF cycle. Fortunately, we were successfull this time thanks to SIRM-St. Louis (Dr. Ahlering). I have 3 boxes of multi-dose Gonal-F 450IU that have never been opened. Expires on 02/08. I also have the needles. Willing to sell each for $325. I paid $470 for each of them. Let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks. Good luck to you all.

I don't need any medicine but do have a question. I've heard of Dr. Ahlering and was wondering what he did differently than your previous doctor (s)?

Hi,
I think it was the stim protocol that worked much better this time for me. I had only tried Lupron my very first cycle with my old RE and we ended up cancelling due to the fact that ovulated early after stimming for 6 days. Dr. A used LH this time. Also, he added some LH to my stims even though I have signs of PCO. From what I read even though PCO patients have too much male hormones there's still a need for some LH.

He got 45 eggs -- yes 45 eggs. 32 were mature. 24 fertilized (would have gotten but there was a blizzard and my husband was stranded at the airport -- eggs weren't fertilized within the normal 2 hrs or so because of the wait). We did a 5 day transfer. Out of the 24 I had 7 blasts. I transferred 2. I have 5 blasts left over. Before, I would respond great -- about 15 - 20 eggs each time but they were so crappy I would only have 5 - 7 embies and we always did a 3 day transfer. Never have done a 5 day transfer.

Hello ttcwaldo,

Can I ask your age. I'm also getting ready for ivf#5. Your situation sounds similar to mine. Alot of eggs with 3 day transfer.....and not a lot ot freeze. We used the Lupron as well.

Thanks,
Denee

Sure, I was on lupron and follistim before egg retrieval. After egg retrieval I had to do the progesterone shots and take one low dose aspirin per day. I hope this answers your question. If not, let me know.
