sharp cramps off and on after transfer

Post by snemo »

I was wondering if sharp cramps here and there after the transfer can mean that the embryos did not implant. I have my test this Thurs and every symptom seems like a nightmare. I am afraid that I had done something to compromise the success of my IVF. Please advise.

I had a few pangs and pains here and there, and I continue to do so at over 6 weeks now. I also had all the symptoms that my period was going to start any minute, and as a matter of fact, I STILL do. Mostly that feeling of downward pressure the days leading up to AF and a feeling of heaviness on the right side. I was reassured by many posters here who said that there is nothing you can do once the ET has taken place. I followed Drs orders for 3 days of strict bedrest, even though I knew there was little scientific evidence to support it. I know it is really tough, but hang in there. I am sure you are taking excellent care of yourself, and you did nothing to compromise your success. The wait is agonizing, to say the least. Be good to yourself and try to stay positive. I wish you the best on Thursday!

I've had cramps too. As I've posted on other threads, I've had a ton of symptoms of one type or another. The last time I felt pretty much nothing after the transfer & I got a BFN, so maybe it's not a bad sign. How many eggs did they get at ER? If it was a lot, you could still be healing up from that. Sometimes people can get "referred pain" which means that you feel pain in one place but it's actually coming from another. I think the abdominal cramps I've been having, although they feel like menstrual cramps, could be anything from recovery from the ER to GI in nature.
I guess what I'm trying to say is until the pregnancy test, it's all a guessing game. Best of luck to you & try not to worry.

I had really bad cramps after an FET cycle earlier this year. My RE said it was from the progesterone and it didn't have anything to do with the actual transfer. Good luck with your blood test!

I really appreciate all the advice and support. I guess there really isn't anything I can do till Thursday. I am hoping for good news but trying not to get my hopes up.
I had about 19 eggs retrieved and then 12 were fertlized. All were fragmented except for one. They transfered one embryo that was good and 2 others that were somewhat ok.

keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for all your support. It's been helping me a lot over the last few weeks.
