Mucus Plug?

Post by Lucyluna »

Anyone care to share their experience of losing their mucus plug? I have read lots of things and suspect mine was a bit dislodged after my cervical check the other day. I've heard you can lose it over a matter of time, or all at once. It may feel like TMI, but I would love to know what it looked like and how much there was when you lost it for this or previous pregnancies. I know it doesn't mean labor is here or anything, just wondering about it...

Thanks so much!

With my first pregnancy I remember exactly when I lost mine. It was like a light yellow jelly texture glob that came onto the toilet paper after wiping. I freaked out thinking that meant it was time but when I called they said it can still take a couple of weeks before you go into labor. Well, it happened on a Friday and I went into labor on Monday and delivered on Tuesday. I was having pretty regular braxton hicks contractions for 2 weeks before that, but it seems like as soon as I lost the plug, my contractions changed and became more uncomfortable. I know a lot of people who never knew when they lost theirs. HOpe this helps.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds pretty similar to my mine. I went to the bathroom and there was a white/yellowish discharge that was larger than normal and thicker. Like you said, jelly-like (or snot like). I expected to see blood or even some pink. There was one spot of brown dried blood, but I think that came from the cervical check I had the day before since I had spotted a tiny bit. I go back to visit the doc. on Monday, so I will ask. I just wanted to hear more about other experiences to compare! It was exciting to feel like I am taking a step, you know?

Thanks again!

Oh Lucy how exciting for you. I've never lost my mucus plug in any of my pregnancies so don't know first hand. The only thing I can tell you, which probably won't help, is once it's gone it can be up to 2 weeks before labour starts!

Best of luck to you. Wishing you a very quick labour

Hi,

I knew exactly when I lost mine. I lost it one early morning on a Thursday which had streaks of blood. I started having contractions after that which turned into active labor that evening. I delivered the next morning.

Good luck to you!!!
