Morning Sickness...

Post by Ems1971 »

Hi Ladies

I am just approaching 15 weeks pregnant. For the first 12 weeks I felt pretty nauseous all the time but if I kept on top of my hunger I managed to control it. However, over the past few days when I get up I have felt really sick, it comes on really suddenly, and then I dry reach, or actually throw up (sorry TMI!). I thought m/s was meant to get better in the 2nd trimester, not worse. Its making things hard as I have to drive 45 mins to work each morning and feel I can't leave the house until its passed. This morning it doesn't seem to be passing at all! I know I shouldn't complain, its all a good sign, but I feel miserable feeling like this...

Help!

i had bad sickness till about 20 weeks in previous pregnancys so it can go on past first trimester.i am nearly 8 weeks now and like you did i am controling it by keeping hungar at bay,so far this has worked and i havnt actually thrown up but i know its coming my nausea is soo bad.i have heard ginger can really help, ginger biscuits but havnt actually tried this i also found eating high carb diet really helped there is a site called ivillage they have a whole page on tips to help morning sicknesss and also have a week by week pregnancy guide.your right though this sickness is a good sign ans rest assured should calm down after 16 weeks although can last uo to 20 but will not be as bad.

Hi Emma,

I'm afraid to tell you but I am still having m/s at 29 weeks. I have twins which may make things different. I had horrible nausea and vomitting all day and night up till 14 weeks when it eased a little and I cut back to what you describe as a sudden desire to be sick and then dry-retching (or bringing up small amounts of bile). Once I do that, I am fine for the rest of the day. Now it doesn't happen every day but I still makes me feel miserable.

I haven't found any remedy that works (ginger makes me worse!!) so I just accept that it will happen. People say that it is a sign of a very healthy pregnancy as your hormone levels are high, so grab hold of that bear with it. I'm sure it will be all worth it in the end.

Good luck,
Em

Hi, i decided to just have a quick nose on this side (not been here for a long time) and saw this post and thought i had to reply.
I really suffered with morning sickness during my pregnancy, some days it was that bad i couldn't even keep water down, and brushing my teeth made me sick everytime. For some strange reason i was much worse at work, anything i ate or drank in my breaks just came right back up. I think the reason for this was because the breaks were only about 15 mins long i rushed trying to get something to eat and drink (so my breaks always ended up being about 30mins, about 15mins spent in the loo afterwards, lol).
I tried dry biscuits and ginger biscuits but they were useless.
I had a 45 minute bus ride to work everyday and i found chewing Extra Peppermint Gum helped a lot, i was never sick or even felt queasy on the bus while chewing that, so i chewed it all day long at work, it was only when i stopped chewing it in my breaks and had something to eat that i was sick. You should give the peppermint gum a try.
My sickness was constant until about 28 weeks and after that it was only once in a while.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
Take care

Michelle

I have also been sick 24/7. I am pregnant with twins and the throwing up didn't start until week 12, just when I thought the nauseau would be passing. Boy was I wrong! My sickness originally happened in the evening, now it's morning and evening. I know we all have mixed emotions about complaining about feeling this way, but reality is, it's an awful feeling. My dr. gave me a prescription for Zofran which is safe to take during pregnancy and it does help temporarily, but I start to feel sick as soon as it wears off.

Hope everyone starts to feel better real soon!
