Trying for number 2

Post by Vickyp »

Hi all

I am just about to start again and have a go at having a brother or sister for Ollie. I just thought I'd start a new topic for anyone else having another go.
I have been told I have to have an HSG to check for any scarring caused by cesarean which I am hoping to have in a couple of weeks. If there is scarring I have to have an op to remove if not I can start again but have to wait till July as I have been breast feeding up till this week.

Any second/third fourth baby success stories would be gratefully recieved!

Hope your all well and that your beautiful babies are thriving. Love Vicky

Hi Vicky,

I am going through a 2nd cycle with a frozen blast this month. Trying for a brother or sister for our DD, Siena. Only had one remaining and hope it sticks.

My test date is tomorrow. I hope to have a success story, but at this point I have no idea yet. . .

Hi

I am about to start on our treatment, hoping for baby no 2. My son is 10 and a half months old. He was conceived through ICSI.
We have 6 frozen embies. I am waiting for AF (looks like tomorrow will be the start). I will then be taking buserelin. We are having an FET.
Quite excited and anxious. We decided not to wait very long to try again. I started back at work today after a year off, beginning to worry we might have taken on too much!! Really would like to have a brother or sister for our lo.

Good luck to everyone who is ttc. x

We had IVF in 2004 and were blessed to have our DD after our first attempt. In Oct 2006 we commenced our 2nd attempt not believing for moment it would work again but it did and I'm now 23 weeks pregant with no2! I know we are so lucky to have that this worked for us both times (both fresh cycles) but just wanted to give you hope and wish you luck!

Hi Lulu & Casy

Casy - what a lovely story - I am finding it hard to believe I could be so lucky twice but you are proof that it can happen. I really hope it happens for us soon as I don't want to get so wrapped up in wanting another baby that I don't concentrate enough on the beautiful boy I am already so lucky to have.

Lulu - Good Luck - I think it's great that you are starting again so soon after your first baby - gives you more time to have more attempts. I really wanted to start sooner (Ollie is nearly one now) but I had a cesarean so couldn't and as I have been breastfeeding till last week I have to wait till July before I can start which seems like ages but I'm sure it will fly by. I guess your work don't know you are starting to try again? Are they okay with your hospital visits etc? I am trying not to tell anyone at work that I am going to be trying again soon as I don't want to tempt fate and I am worried that my boss might be a bit fed up - not that he would have any right to be of course. I had Ollie through a FET so it definately works (this was my first FET as well). Right I had better get on with some work!

Take Care - Love vicky

No, I haven't told work! Well not any of the bosses at least!! I have been told at my clinic, I wont need as many appts with an FET. If I do, I am going to tell work its medical appointments and leave it at that. To be honest, I dont think its anything to do with them, so unless something happens, I intend keeping it quiet. They were great last time, but as I am just back, I dont want to push my luck lol.

Great story Casy.... lets hope we all can have the same success!

Hi Lulu

I agree with you - it's not their business - we wouldn't tell them if we were trying a baby naturally would we!!

Yes you don't have nearly as many appts for a FET - or at least I didn't anyway. How's it going with the buserelin? Vicky

Hi again

Well I am officially trying again now. On day 5 of buserelin. It is making me feel slighty sick at the moment. Feel totally shattered as well tonight, but I think that is more likely to be being back at work! lol

How is everyone else doing?

Vicky

Good luck with trying for a second!

I had 5 years unexplained infertility, 1 ivf treatment, daughter born in 2003.

Then I didn't use contraception and got pregnant naturally with twins!! I was so surprised.

I wish you every success. I still have 2 frozen embies from my first ivf but I had to have a hysterectomy after the twins so there will be no more babies for me.

Take care, fingers crossed

Hi

Just wanted to say good luck to you girls trying again, and congrats for on those second success stories! Maia is only 6 months old, but recently just cant shake the feeling of when to start and try for number 2, would love so much for her to have little brother or sister ... and time seems so short! Bit wary of the whole roller coaster ride again, its been so heavenly to not have the hoping and the distress of trying which lasted for over 5 years the first time around, but with our little angel pie to keep us happy and entertained, maybe the second time is never going to be so awful.

I am thinking of using up the frozen embies in the next few months so I know where I stand with going back to work and then having to comtemplate a full cycle if they dont work. Seems crazy to be thinking of returning to work at the same time as planning a second pregnancy!!

Would love to hear how you guys go, hope the thread keeps going!

Bye for now

so pleased to see this thread

my DD is 11 months old this week and I can not shake thinking about number 2 I do not know what to do :?: :( - we have no frozen embies and so would have to start again. I am sooo grateful that we have one and that is more than enough for me but I think that it would be sooo sad :( if she never had any brothers or sisters and that I should try for her, it is starting to stress me out :( :!:

Like you Mel not sure i can face the rollercoaster again and would that be fair on DD - don't want to obsess about no2 when I am over the moon with DD

Good luck to everyone brave enough to face it again

Hi all

Lulu - how exciting - hope your not feeling too hormonal - I am positive that sickness is due to work...but fingers crossed - it won't be for long!

Bibby & Zoe - thanks for that - what amazing stories - it really does happen then! and Bibby twins as well!! Congrats to both of you.

Mel & Jules - I agree with both of you - it's really scary starting again - I burst into tears when I drove to the hospital recently - just little things on the route I used to drive past really early in the morning that triggered memories of doing it the first time. (like a big clock as you drive into Hammersmith that I used to check whether I was going to make my appts). Just all came flooding back how incredibly sad I used to be all the time. I am completely determined not to get wrapped up in trying to have no.2 - I am SO happy with my beautiful boy but as you say I would also love to give him a brother or sister. I hate the idea of him being on his own when he grows up. I am thinking at the moment that we'll use our frozen embryo's (4) and then have one more go from scratch - then maybe adopt if this isn;t succesful.

Now I've actually got my HSG booked I am actually really excited about starting again - I'm even thinking I wish I'd started sooner and Ollie's only just one.

Anyway - let us know if and when you do decide to go ahead.

Hope you're all well and happy. Love Vicky
