Progesterone Suppository vs. Shot

Post by Sher8 »

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the two? My clinic started offering this option and I did not know if there is anything to consider on this.

Do they both "do the job?"

Thanks,
Sher8

Sher~

My clinic will not give the suppository unless there is nobody to give you the shot. So that tells me they prefer the shot better. I am now getting the shot once a week, so I prefer once a week to 3 suppositiories a day.

So really, I have no clue if there is a difference.LOL Sorry.
Jessica

Thanks Jes,

I think I'm going to go with the shot if we do this again. I had the shot on my first cycle and not on the FET this time. I feel that they "work" better, but it might just be in my head. We meet with the doctor in early May to discuss "next steps."

I bet you are elated. I remember the feeling like it was yesterday. Our daughter is now 15 months and it is still so amazing to me.

Good luck on your first ultrasound and happy, healthy pregnancy.

Sher,

I personally prefer the shot. I did a fresh cycle in oct and used the suppository. It seems like I it could never stay up..lol, plus I had to do it three time per day. It was very uncomfortable to do while I was at work during the day. I am going in for a FET on thursday and this time my RE recommended the shot, I only have to do it once per day, personally I have more faith in the shots.

Good luck to you!

Thanks Gen and best of luck to you. There have been a lot of success stories with FET. I hope you are one of them!

My fertility center recommends the shot, but is totally ok if you want to switch to the suppository on your fresh. For the FET, they only let you do the shots. I've done a little research, I found that studies show the same % of success with the both, but the suppository is harder to measure how much you are absorbing.

Hi, I'm on BOTH. I take the shots every other day, and the prometrium 3x per day. I got a lot of polyps after my last cycle, and they said it was from all the progesterone. I wonder why they give me so much then????

But... I am 40
