Anyone else have a hard time believing it?

Post by sdmtb »

Hi all - I had a BFP three weeks ago and saw a heartbeat on u/s today! I am seven weeks along. While I feel relieved and very happy, I am still sort of in shock or something. We were TTC for 19 months - I know it is nothing compared to some, but I am dumbfounded by my psychological reaction. I thought I would feel differently, like ecstatic, but I am feeling like maybe it hasn't really suck in yet. I guess you get so wrapped up in the ER, the ET, the IVF, the ICSI, the betas, the u/s and all the other acronyms that it is hard to believe it. Does anyone else feel this way? I feel sort of... well... just odd! Maybe things will be different once we are able to share the good news? Maybe after the first trimester? I know the worries will never end as a mother, but I am just wondering if anyone else had this initial slow-burning reaction?

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!! We are over 15 weeks and still can't believe it! We may not until they are nestled in our laps. It's a wierd feeling to know it all finally worked and we are on our way.

Enjoy this special time and I hope it's smooth sailing for you! CONGRATS!!!

Thanks for your posts. It is enormously helpful to hear from people who feel the same way. I consider myself a fairly rational person in every aspect of my life EXCEPT this! The minute I walk in to my RE's office (or out of, for that matter), all rational thought seems to escape me :D

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I am 8 weeks and will be having my second scan tomorrow and I'm a nervous wreck. I shouldn't be because at my 6 week scan everything looked great, we were able to see AND hear the heartbeat.

I kept thinking once I see a heartbeat I will feel better...but I still worry and have a hard time believeing after everything we've gone through it's really happening. It sounds like our situation is very similar. DH and I were ttc for 18 months.

Was this your first ivf? It was our first and maybe that's part of the shock. I'm thrilled but can't believe we were so lucky.

Keep me posted on your progress. Just a few more weeks and we will be loving our big bellies in the second trimester!! :D

I don't even think I fully realize that I am. We started down this road 6 years ago and I am in disbelif that I am actually pregnant. I think when I can finally feel the baby inside me is when it'll really hit me!

pep23 - This was our first full IVF cycle. We canceled one earlier this year due to poor response. I feel very fortunate that we got a positive result! Congratulations to you!!

JesJes - Congratulations to you as well!! Six years. I can't even imagine. I am so very happy for you!

I had to laugh at your post - it's totally natural how you feel.

After 7 years of trying, we finally got our dream. That wee monkey has just turned 3, and only the other day we were watching him and saying 'where did he come from?!' LOL

Not only that, we amazingly have had another and not only did I not believe it was happening when I was pregnant - I still can't believe we have him now!!!

OMG - I'm a mum of 2

Enjoy every second - dreams do come true
