Started FET medicated cycle, very nervous!

Post by kez01 »

Hi everyone,

I'm back for another try, I had IVF/ICSI in Jan/Feb 2007 I had only 4 eggs and got 4 embryos all grade 1. Unfortunately BFN.

I have started buserelin and will hopefully be having FET in May sometime. I am really nervous about the thawing process and hope that my embryos survive, if anyone has any success stories that would be great.

Its nice to be back in the forum and i hope everyone is doing well
Thanks

Good Luck I recently went through it with only 2 eggs and they made it through. I now have two weeks to wait for the results.

Hi Kerri. I had an FET on 4/13 and had a positive beta yesterday. I transfered two 5 day blasts that were frozen in 2002. I had 5 left over after a BFP from a fresh cycle back then. I used 2 of them earlier this year with a BFN. I thawed the last 3 this cycle and 2 of them survived the thaw. The good news for you is that the freezing and thaw process has gotten much better in the past few years. Good Luck!

Hi everyone,

thanks so much for your responses, sorry so late in returning, i have been in work, I'm a nurse and absolutely shattered following my shifts.

good luck lisa with your test on may 8th i will be thinking of you. Thanks for the nice stories too. I'm on day 10 of my down regulation injections and havent had a period yet, i think i will probably get it in the middle of the week, then i will have to go and have my scan and blood test before starting the tablets to prepare my lining.

Unfortunately my boss has put me on 7 nights from monday which i am not looking forward to as, i will have to contact the clinic and go in before getting some sleep. :(

I am having some concerns regarding the embryos, when listening to everyone about having blasts put back in i am not sure if my clinic does this here in the uk, i would rather have a blast put back in than a 3 day old embryo as they would have less time to float around.

Does anyone know if the success rates are better for 5 day blasts rather than less mature embryos.
thanks so much, take care everyone

Hi...

I just finished my first ivf and it started off as a BFP....but hcg numbers didn't double and it is now a bfn....I have one more test tomorrow to confirm it...but know that it's not a viable pregancy, as I have been spotting the last few days.

I tranferred 2 and have 6 frozen. I'm just curious as to how long you have to wait before you go through a FET after bfn?

Congratulations on your bfp, Torrie!!

Kerry and Lisa....wishing you both bfp's on your tests!!

Hi Ladies,

Kerry, I have done 2 Fet's, they are much easier on the body and mind,I got very low positives from both unfortunatley neither were viable, i am now waiting for further tests to see why. on both occasions we defrosted 3 and 2 survived, the first two were a 3 cell(lost one in thaw) and a 4 cell, both 2 day. On the second attemt we had a 4 cell and a five which had divided to six by time of transfer, also again 2 day.All of top quality. I am very lucky as i have 4 left but need all my test results back before we go again as they think i may have a chromosone problem, or rejecting the embro's.I have my tests end of this month and then its 10 weeks before the results are back.

Patience is a virtue.

Good luck to everyone
keep the faith.

Yes they are. Day 5 blastocysts have the highest implantation rates.

Hi everyone,
thanks for your replies.

I had to wait until i had had 2 menstrual periods to start FET that included the one following my ivf cycle, and then i commenced this FET on the day 21 following the 2nd cycle.

Thanks for the words of encouragement regarding FET.
I am on day 15 of down regulation and still havent had a bleed yet, I know i am very inpatient. I am really tired and i'm in the 5th of 7 night shifts and have a spare minute to catch up.

Thanks Ghost for reply regarding 5 day blasts, I just need to discuss this with the clinic i use as i am not sure if we have the techniques here in england to allow the embryos to survive to day 5 blasts, I really hope we do as I have felt for a while that it is a long time for the embryos to float around when they are put in on day 2 and 3. It is no wonder the success rates are so terrible.

Anyway i will stop moaning and get back to work. patients to look after !
Take care everyone.

Dear Kez01

No worry. Though there may be some "depreciation" in the thawing process, your embryos shall still be fine.

My last FET experience told me that at least half of them thawed embryos remained the original quality. Yes, some embryos would have one or two cells gone but some embryos would further develop once they got thawed. Something less, but there would be something more to offset the difference. Things are gonna be fine. You get all my blessings from HK!

Stay cool :P !

Hi everyone.
finally got my period today, day 19 of my down regulation. I'm going for a scan and blood test in the morning to confirm down regulation.

I also had a quick chat with the nurse on the phone regarding keeping my embryos until they reach blasts. She said they do do that here but you run the risk of them dying before they are transfered as your body is the best medium. She said i would have to discuss it with the embryologist, I only have 2 embryos and i wouldn't want to risk them dying and then have none at all, now i am even more worried about what to do.

hope everyone else is doing well.

I am in the same situation as you. I got a BFP w/my 1st IVF and it ended up a m/c w/low rising beta #'s as well. I ended up having a D & E and as soon as I got my period (about 6 weeks later) we started on our 1st frozen cycle. I got a BFP on 5/2 after transferring 2 5-day blastocysts. My beta started off better this time and my progesterone and estrogen look really good, but once again, w/my 2nd beta it didn't quite double 48 hours later. I go back in on 5/10 for a 3rd beta. My RE doesn't appear too concerned, but I can't help dreading it's going to be a repeat of last time. Best of luck to you!!

Hi Carrie

I wish you luck with your beta tomorrow, i'm praying it is good news. I start my tablets tomorrow to start preparing my lining.

I'm still worrying over whether to keep my embryos in the medium till they reach blasts or whether to transfer them on the day of thaw. The nurse says your body is the best medium. I would be devastated if i said leave them and they didn't continue dividing, i would have nothing to transfer and i only have 2 embryos.

I look forward to having a good chat with the embryologist to see what she advises.

take care everyone.
