hrobinson - My RE says that prenatal vitamins are overrated and that you can take the children's vitamins plus Folic Acid so it will be easier on your stomach. Have a great 'sanity day' I love those.... :)

Tanya - hope you had a great follie count this morning.

PMApsy - Wow, France, I would love to go there sometime. You'll have to share photos!

Stims are going great. I had forgotten how bad the Menopur hurt until I did that first one Sat. OUCH! It burns pretty bad. I'm now feeling the side effects of the drug, buzzy head, dizzy, achy, irritable. But other than that, I'm just wonderful! :) [poor dh]

Happy Monday girls!

Sophie- so good to hear from you! Glad you are having fun, can't wait to hear all about it!

Tanya-- Can't wait for your update on follies. I won't be talking about our nasty looking weather today don't worry!!

Hrobinson- Yep, 4 shots. 2 Lupron, a gonal rff, and a repronex. Oh Joy! My doctor gave me a prescription for prenatals and they kill me. Constipation station!! Maybe i'll try the folic acid and children's vitamins like Jovigal said.

I'll chat more later. Have a great week!
Jenn

I have had an interesting situation at the RE this morning. I went for my blood work and scan and the nurse saw 5 that were about 15ish and 8 that were 10. She said that she wasnt sure what was on what side because my ovaries were on top of each other!!! I was like how can that happen? She said from the weight of them if I sleep on my side at all it will flip one up....How weird is that? I found that to be strange...Anyhow 5 are looking great as far as she can see. I will be asking when they call about ER. I need to know when it will be!!! I will let you guys know when I know. I think that I will be needing Ganirelix again this time...not sure yet though.

Hope that you are well...
Tanya

Tanya, that is very weird, but I can see that happening. You can see why they say not to do extreme exercising because of that. You're liable to pop them befere ER. :) Sounds like you're getting a good count though. Good luck!

Hey girls! I have a couple of questions:

How many of you had a mock or trial transfer? What does that determine?
Are any of you on baby aspirin as a standard procedure from your doctor?
Does your clinic do a 3 day or 5 day transfer or does it depend on how they look?

The only reason I ask is because I have a friend going through IVF at a different clinic and I didn't have a trial transfer and I don't take baby aspirin and her clinic does that to everyone. Just wondering if that is normal.

Tanya- so will you sleep on the other side and try to flip them over??

Have a great evening!!
Jenn

Jenn, I never did a mock transfer but RE did do an u/s a day before the procedure just to see the position of the ovaries (1 for me). Aspirin - no, although RE doesn't discourage his pts from using it. 3 or 5 day? My RE does 3 day only. He said the end results don't change either way you do it. (?)

Hey Jen I am on the aspirin and did not have any mock transfer. My clinic pushes you to do a 5 day transfer but I fought and threatened to goto another clinic if I could not do what I wanted a 3 day this time. Our first 2 BFNs were 5 day... So on the 3rd try I told them I wanted to do it my way and try a 3 day transfer.

Hi Everyone!

I have a question. How many embryos have you had transferred? I am doing my FET in June and my doctor wanted to transfer 2 again. I insisted that we do 3 since this is our third attempt. I really don't have a fear that I'll get pregnant with all 3.

Jenn-I did have a trial transfer. It lets them know the best way to put in the catheter etc. That way they have no surprises when doing the actual transfer. Also, my clinic does have everyone take low dose aspirin once a day after the transfer.

Take Care,

L

Oh, and I forgot to say that my clinic does day 3 and day 5 transfers. They schedule everyone as a day 3 transfer and then call you the morning of the transfer to tell you if you should come in or not. If the embryos look good, they have you wait until day 5. If they don't look that good, they have you come in that morning and do a day 3.

Hrobinson – Sanity day – I love that idea, I think we all need them every now and then – I hope you had lots of fun doing nothing in particular
I’ve been taking folic acid for the last few months. In New Zealand they recommend we take it for 3 months before and for the 1st 3 months of pregnancy, I’ve also started taking a pre/pregnancy vitamin which you can purchase over the counter at a drug store.

Hi Tanya – That sounds like an interesting scan !!!! I can imagine you going to bed tonight wondering if you should lie on your right or left hand side, I’m picturing your eggs bumping into each other saying “excuse me – can you make a little space for me – I want to grow and be picked for EC also” I’m getting excited for you thinking our 1st May / June girl is almost at EC !!!!

Jenn – I think different clinics have different ways of doing things – as far as I know our clinic doesn’t do mock transfers (unless they do it on the day before the actual transfer) On this site you see so many different protocols it does make you wonder if your own is the correct one. I think we just have to have faith that each clinic we go to does what it thinks is best based on the results they get.

LTaylor – our clinic will only do single transfer if you are under 35 because there is only a 2% difference in success rates between one and two embryo transfer – so unfortunately it is only a single chance for me.

I hope to get the go ahead tomorrow to start my stimms (fingers crossed)

Everyone else, have a good day tomorrow / today

Love Angela

Hey guys....

Well it looks like ER is going to be Sun or Mon and I have to go back on Thursday to see how everything looks then. Starting to feel bloated and just yucky. I am so excited that it will be coming up so soon! It does fly by. She said to stay on the meds and that things look really good. They think that some of the follies are hiding and the RE is concerned about getting them all if they are still overlapping. I am crampy and bloated as all get out so it doesnt surprise me.

Angela
I really loved your excuse me comment for the follies! That was sooo cute! Good point of view. Bring on the stims tomorrow girlie!!! WOO HOOO

L
I did 2 with my fresh last summer and one with my FET. I would beg and plead for the 3. It is highly unlikely that they will all take but give you a better chance of geting pg!!! I would do what I could to get the three put back in....Just my lowly opinion though.....

Jenn
Every clinic is different though. It is so hard to say. I do baby aspirin and I had a mock transfer the first time around and now thye say it isnt necessary. I guess that is why it is medical practice because they dont really know exactly what is going on....LOL

Can't wait till Thursday when I know what is going on!!!

Tanya...YEAH for you!!! I am so excited for you. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

LTaylor...I did 2 on my fresh cycle, but I think I want to also do 3 on my FET this month! Just give it alot of thought and prayer and if that is what you decide on your RE needs to respect your decision. My rationale on it is if only 1 survives the thaw, then they have to thaw the second vile. If both of those survive the thaw, then I am not going to dispose of the 3rd embryo. For some reason it was meant to be then. That is just my 2 sense. When is your FET???

Jenn...I didn't do baby aspirin on my first cycle and if I had then I might have been more successful considering that I have a blood clotting disorder. This cycle I am using Lovenox which is a form of baby aspirin/heparin. I have read success stories of women who incorporated baby aspirin in their regimen. It was something strange like 71 mg...I don't know the reasoning behind the dosage. I would ask your RE...that is what I did and she recommended the Lovenox.
I also had a mock transfer done at my clinic...does your clinic not do them?

I am not sure who asked this but...my clinic does 3 and 5 day transfers. It depends on the embryos size (4 cell, blasts...etc)

I hope that covers everyone's questions...sorry if I missed something. Hope everyone is doing well. Talk to everyone later.

Jen779-
I will have my FET in June. I just got off the phone with my clinic and they are ordering my medicine now and I will start it on day one of my next period (end of May). Based on that, they think the transfer will be on June 15. So, I still have a month and a half to go. It seems like forever! Let me know if you end up doing 3. It just made me nervous when I told the nurse I wanted to do 3 and her reply was “as long as you are making an educated decision”. I think I could have started the FET process with the period I’m having now but they told me it was better to wait to make sure all the stimulating medicine was out of my system. Now I kind of wish I would have insisted on starting now. Do you know the date of your transfer?

LTaylor...My FET date has changed 3 times now. My cycle has been so screwed up since my miscarriage. I got my last period while I was on my cruise, so now I have to wait til my next one b/c I couldn't go in for baseline US and labs. If I have a normal 28 day cycle, AF should arrive on 5/19 or so. So I guess somewhere after that. I am not sure how long after AF they do the transfer. Keep me posted on your dates. I think only you and I are having FET cycles...

My body sure is messed up. I am still having a period...sort of. I only bleed after about 6:00pm or when I start thinking about sex. I guess my body wants my poor dh to suffer. It is so bizarre. I am going off the pill tomorrow, and then back on on Sunday so hopefully that will get my body back in line.

Jovigal- What does the menopur do? Is that like Lupron? It has been so interesting reading about the different procedures all our clinics do, the different drugs they use etc. One would have thought things would not have been so different from one place to another.

TansRN- I cannot believe your ovaries were on top of each other. That is so weird. I would start stressing about making sure to sleep on my back so that wouldn't happen again. It does make you giggle a little though.

Jenn- Why are you doing 2 shots of Lupron and 1 gonal rff at the same time? I will be doing one shot of Lupron and then after 6 days I will stop that and go to the gonal rff. What is their thinking? What is Repronex?
Also, my clinic does not do a mock transfer. I see the benefit of it, but at the same time...
What is the purpose of baby aspirin? I am telling you guys you are educating me quite a bit.
Finally, my clinic does both 3 and 5 day transfers. It all depends on how the eggs are growing. I believe last time I called on day 3 and they had me wait until day 5.
As I said earlier, I went into my first experience very blind. I hope that I am more aware this time.

I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday. I am back at work:( Sure enjoyed my day off yesterday. I really think I could get used to not working.
