Hi everyone
I have just popped in to catch up on everyone and it's great to hear news and see some pictures of the new arrivals - they look and sound gorgeous! real life success stories! Congratulations to you all. I didn't realise it was so long since I had visited but so much seems to have changed since I was last here.
We are about to start our DE treatment - we finally made our decision to go ahead and thought we would have to wait 3 - 6 months for a donor. However a few weeks later we had a call from the clinic and it was all systems go! I have been on progesterone for the last 4 weeks and we have to go to the clinic tomorrow, me for a ultrasound and DH for his sample! Then all being well I think Saturday will be the transfer day - it all seems really scarey now as we haven't really thought about it that much as it's been so quick. We were due to go away for DH birthday present trip to Dublin this weekend but I think will have to cancel - probably better to rest up and not fly off anywhere.
Do I remember reading, ages ago, someone recommending eating pineapple after the transfer for a couple of weeks??? Or is there anything else anyone can recommend - all ideas/suggestions gratefully received.

Hi Everybody! I just got back from yet another u/s. I am on day 13 of stims and FINALLY the little suckers are growing. I have follies at 18, 17,17,16, at least 4 at 14.5 mm and a whole bunch more around 13mm. I doubt the smaller ones will catch up but at least it looks like 4-6 mature eggs at this point. My E2 is 1688 and I am triggering tonight and will have EC on Thursday. It is strange - I have more follies than last cycle but it took three days longer on stims to get them to the right size. I hope all goes well. My doctor is talking about a possible 2 day transfer which kinda has me concerned. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Hi everyone, Yasmina and Tammy your little ones are gorgeous! I will have to see if I can post another of Wills, so as not to be left out!

I am trying to reply without scrolling through the messages as for some reason this page is wider than the screen on my pc, which makes it very difficult to read - so i hope I manage to include everyone.

Geckogirl, a note on 2 day transfers. With my donor egg cycle our embryos were 2 days and 4 cells. As you know we now have a wonderful son, so don't be alarmed by 2 day transfers. Some say it is better to transfer them earlier so they are back in the optimum surroundings for better development. Others say it is better to take them to blast to sort out the ones that are capable of surviving that long. Wishing you loads of luck with your bumper crop of eggs. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Ali, good luck with your donor egg cycle. Are you cycling in the UK? It's fantastic that you didn't have to wait too long. I am still on the waiting list for DE treatment at my clinic here in the UK - it will be three years soon and still no sign of being at the top of the list. I guess now that we have been abroad and have our precious son, I should take my name of the UK list, but I am sort of interested to see exactly how long it would have taken if we had waited.

As to any ideas/suggestions - try and take it easy after transfer and stay calm and relaxed. Easier said than done, but stress of any kind cannot help the situation. Also, i am a great believer in positive thinking so stay positive. Fingers crossed for you too.

hi Jen, hope you enjoyed your dog walking. I expect you have some lovely countryside to exercise the dog in. Whereabouts in Scotland are you?

Talking about babies and their nappy habits - Wills has gone for a few days before now without fillling his nappy. When he did though, it was like Mount Etna and the lava flow - just kept coming. LOL. Funny how we can deal with our little ones' poop, you somehow just get on with it.

On that note I will leave you all, hi to everyone else here, and Anna hope little Matthew is doing well too!

Hi Bev
Thanks for your reply, we live in Mallorca so are having treatment here and although he had said we should expect a 6 month wait it was only a few weeks in the end - we are private though so I'm sure that makes a difference - they don't have an NHS version of IVF here so you have no choice. We actually went to the clinic today, DH had to do his bit! and they have just rung me to say they have collected 13 eggs and will call again tomorrow to let me know how many have fertilised - fingers crossed we hope to be back at the clinic on Saturday for the transfer. Do you mind me asking how many embies they put back for you?
Look forward to seeing a pic of Wills!
Geckogirl - good luck on Thursday with EC

Hi Ali, just a quick reply, we had 4 x 2 day embies put back. They were all 4-cell. We grappled with the dilemma of how many to put back, but due to my history the embryologist suggested 4 instead of the original 2 - 3 that we had first discussed. I worried all through the 2 ww in case all 4 took. In the end, I was so relieved that we went for the 4, as maybe if we had gone for 2 or 3, the one little one that turned out to be William may just have been put away in the freezer. Perish the thought!

Good luck with the fertilization, hope you get a good crop of lovely embies to choose from. Will be thinking of you this coming Saturday.

Hello Ladies:

Andrew has been vigorously sucking his thumb, hand, fist in the last few days. I give him his pacifier, but when it drops out of his mouth he starts smacking away on his hand. Has anyone else had this? I'm just wondering if he is teething very early. He is only 2 months old.

Yasmina,
Andrew poops at least every few hours. He used to poop after each feeding, but now he waits for every few feedings and poops a bunch.

Ali: Great news on the egg collection.

Geckogirl: Good luck tomorrow with EC.

Have to go, Andrew is calling.

Hi Ladies,

Well done, Geckogirl. You’re well on the way to getting a BFP. It really is time we had some more little success stories on this thread. I had day-2 transfers but never really questioned it because I only had one embie available and like Bev says they are supposed to develop better if put back sooner, so don’t worry. Good luck at EC today!

Ali, glad to hear you can go straight ahead with your DE cycle. What a shame that it has ended up clashing with your Dublin trip but at least you haven’t have much time to worry in the run-up.
I did the “pineapple diet” on my 2ww wait too, after reading about it somewhere. Now whenever I eat pineapple it reminds me of my 2wws. My advice for the 2ww is to keep yourself busy and distracted doing all the things you really enjoy (and are allowed to do). Otherwise just stroke your tummy and think happy thoughts. The best of luck for you and DH for your fertilisation call.

Tammy and Yasmina: Thanks for the pics. Enjoyed looking at those. A belated Happy Birthday to you, Tammy! 8)

Hi Jen, yep we’re all geared up for our first appointment, only one or two things still to fix like hotel etc. I’m actually quite relaxed about it but am definitely not looking forward to the long summer wait after that. I daren’t think about the getting-time-off-work problem either. My goal is still to take holiday time but from what I’ve read, it rarely works out that way. Hmmm. Hope you get your referral soon. Do you have to pay for all the tests? DH seems to have got his tests done for free whilst I had to pay quite a lot. I kept getting told that they are only paid by the insurance if you’re pregnant.

Here’s something I’ve been wanting to ask you wise and wonderful women. When my gynaecologist handed me the test results he said everything was OK but when I opened the envelope I found out that my prolactin level was 48(!) and marked as “slightly high” (normal = < 30). I did panic a bit and started reading up. I gather that increased levels can reduce chances of implantation and presume that is why the clinic has specifically asked for this blood test. Has anyone any advice on how to reduce prolactin and will I need to have the level checked again?

Hi to Kat, Anna, Bev, Catharine, Lisa (hope all is well with you) and everyone else here. Has anyone heard from LuAnne?

Take care all.
Sonia

Hi Everybody,

I had EC today and they got 15 eggs!!!! Holy cow! DH and I just couldn't believe it. They said that only one was too immature to fertilize. We will get the fert report tomorrow and will find out if we will do a 2 or 3 day transfer. This is so much better than my last cycle where I only got 7 eggs, 4 of which were mature enough to fertilize. For now, I am pretty sore and am going to nap the rest of the day.....

Hiya everyone
Congratulations Gecko Girl - 15 eggs - that's amazing -good luck with fertilizing!!
Our Donor had 12 eggs collected and 6 of which have fertized, I am going in tomorrow for the transfer - little bit apprehensive, although excited, now. They collected the eggs on Wednesday with the transfer on Saturday so I guess we are a 3 day transfer? Have a good rest and hope you get a good result today.
Sonix - thanks for your advice, I'll think I'll give the pineapple a try too.
Must go now and sort a few things out ready for tomorrow, trying to go with a really PMA too (not always so easy is it).

Well, we got our fert report and 10 of the 15 eggies fertilized! We are doing a 3 day transfer on Sunday. I don't know yet how many they will transfer but the clinic suggests 4-6 so I am going to push for the higher number. I am so excited!

Ali - Awesome news with your donor! How many will you transfer? Let us know how your transfer goes.

Take care everyone!

Hi geckogirl, good luck on your transfer!

Tammy, Eloise does that too, my hubby prefers that she sucks her fingers to pacifiers. BTW, Andrew's smile kills!

Bev, good to hear from you, anxiously waiting to see Wills pics.

Sonix, thanks for your question. I read some research articles about it and found that results are contrivertial. I guess that was why your RE did not bother to tell you to make you worry.

Anna, how are you?

Everyone else, have a nice weekend!

Hi everyone
Just a quick note (I have spent ages on this site already reading through everyones posts!) Had the transfer yesterday - 2 embies, hopefully nested in snugly. Bit worried today as I have stomach cramps and and rumblings like AF is on her way. AF was actually due yesterday but from what I understand the injection I had will stop it for 45 days so not sure why I feel like this. I did mention it to the specialist yesterday and he said "dont worry" huh - easy for him to say!!
Trying to relax and think positive thoughts, please send us some baby dust and a prayer.
Am on the dreaded 2WW now - test on 15th May - I'd forgotten how awful this is.
We have decided (well me actually) to go away on the Island for a couple of days, thought a change of scenery might help us both chill out.
Best wishes to everyone, have a good weekend - it's bh in UK isn't it?
