31-year-old Who Already Failed 5 IUIs, 3 IVFs and 1 FET

Post by colourprinter »

Hello Gals :P ,

I am actually all the way from the other end of the world, i.e. Hong Kong.
Just ran into this web and found it cool to have a place chatting and sharing.

I am now 31 years old, but actually I started the infertility treatment when I was 29. Failed so many times of IUIs, IVFs and FET.

In HK, still quite conventional Chinese society, we usually don't tell others the truth of our infertility problem. When people keep asking you why don't you have babies after getting married for so long? It's hurt  .

Just wish to say Hello to everyone out there (you gals!) and wish you all the best of luck with your treatments. I am having my another FET this month too. Just have to keep my fingers crossed again and again...

Hi colourprinter,

I'm also having FET this month too, I am on a medicated cycle as my menstrual cycle is irregular.
I'm on day 15 of down regulation and waiting for my period to come and then i commence hrt.

I am hoping to have FET very soon in may/june. I am praying it works and it will be nice to chat with someone else having FET at the same time.

Take care and good luck to you too.

Dear Charlie78

I am glad that there are different messageboards for people like us. We are definitely under a lot of stress. If I don't have a proper outlet for my grieve, I would have gone crazy already. Frankly, I really don't expect my infertility journey to be such a bumpy one, at the age of 29-31, I thought it would have been at least a bit more easier.

How about you? I hope your hubby and your family and friends are all supportive and caring towards you and your treatment. Best Wishes ^o^

Dear Henrietta,

Agree with you that the 2ww is horrible. Even worse than having the shots and the medicine. I always tell myself "Hope for the best, but also, Plan for the worst". I have failed so many times by now, but still I feel devastated every time I see the negative sign on the stick......

I have seen lots of documentaries talking about IVF cases in UK and USA. I kind of have the feeling that the successful rates in western countries are far higher than those in HK. Anyway, hope good luck will fall on everyone of us - who long for being a mother eventually. Take care and good luck to your upcoming pregnancy test!

Dear kez01,

So, your doctor is now monitoring your hormones so as to ensure an ideal environment for FET, right?

I'm on medication too as my doctor wishes to manipulate my menstruation. I have lots of issues that's why I failed so many times.
That's my he wants to try sth new - no ovulation this month and ensure a not too thick lining for FET.

Anyway, as long as we trust our doctors and stick to our faith, I believe one day the beautiful things will come true, for us  .

"Ideal environment" is one way to put it. "Ideal timing" is more accurate.

The endometrium cannot be maintained in a receptive state. It passes through a receptive state that lasts no more than 48 hours (although the timing of this 48 hour phase varies among women). This phase must occur while a recently hatched blastocyst is present, otherwise implantation is unlikely or impossible. The two events, embryo development and endometrial development, need to be synchronized.

Lupron is frequently used in FET cycles to prevent ovulation. Ovulation itself is not a problem, but ovulation will cause the release of progesterone from the corpus luteum, which can start endometrial development at the wrong time. Instead, clinics shut down ovulation and start progesterone on their own schedule, according to the timing of the embryos that will be transferred. Keep in mind, it's not the transfer date that matters, but the hatching date. Embryos hatch after about 6-7 days of development. Then they can implant, if the endometrium is receptive. By no coincidence, the endometrium is receptive about 6-7 days after exposure to progesterone in natural cycles (and in FET cycles). In stimulated cycles, the endometrium is often advanced a couple of days by the very unnatural and extreme levels of hormone exposure.
