Thank you girls for your kind words. I slept on it and this morning woke feeling so much better about things. It was such a silly knee-jerk reaction but I'm so glad that I have you guys to vent.

Laura - thats great that you have a date! Its only three weeks away!!!!!!! I am so excited for you! I have also finally decided to ask for a Caesar, so hopefully we will be able to plan our date soon too!

WannababyIVF - Welcome to double trouble! I agree with the others, you will feel more aches and pains a lot sooner than people with singletons, so don't alarm yourself when they can't relate to what you are feeling. Look forward to hearing your progress!

Thanks again for the sympathetic ear guys,
Em

HI Ladies-Thank you so much for the warm welcome! And the wonderful words of wisdom. It feels so good to have someone (many) to talk to about what you're experiencing. It makes me feel less alone. :-)

Well I did call my OBGYN yesterday and told him about the cramping. He told me to go home and put my feet up and drink lots of water. If it gets worse to go to emergency room or come see him. But it was around rush hour and he didn't want me to have to sit in traffic at that time. He also asked me about my recent activities. I told him that I had been walking a lot this past weekend. I'm trying to stay active because I really don’t want to go on bed rest. I’m doing what I can now to avoid it later. I just think I did too much too fast and my body was yelling at me. I feel much better now after resting yesterday. I'm back at work today. I do notice that when I sit for too long (driving from home to work), I feel it more. So now I have to remind myself to get up and walk every now and then while at work.

Em--On another note, I don’t think there is anything you could have done about your GTT test. A labor and delivery nurse (who is currently pregnant) told me that the baby can sometimes take glucose away from you, which results in gestational diabetes. She told me there was nothing we can do to prevent it. Some women get it and some women don’t. But it has nothing to do with your health, weight or eating habits. So please don’t blame yourself. :-)

Hi ladies,

Wow, it's been busy around here this week. We just got back from hols last night. We had a great time and the babies have been moving loads all week, they must of liked the sun although I kept my tummy covered with a towel (don't know why I bothered wearing bikinis). Got a good tan and really looking forward to settling down now and getting ready for the babies. I'm dying to start shopping but I will wait until after my next scan on the 31st May.

I felt a little sad on holiday as the news everywhere was talking about that cute little 3 year old girl that's been kidnapped in Portugal. I guess it touched me even more so because she is an IVF baby as are her little twin sibblings. Her poor parents are so distraught and the whole of Europe is feeling it too. God , I hope if you are up there that you bring Madeline home to where she belongs. Girls, Say a prayer for her and for her family that they may have the continued strength to believe she will come home soon.

Moving on..Kimberly, you're doing great by the sounds of it. We will more than likely be taking the cord blood (stem cells) from the babies cord when born and having them frozen. It is costly though, £2000 GBP or USD3800.00 we have been quoted .

Xrayem, My friend got gestation diabetes in her last 2 months before her daughter was born. Not on her first. She coped well with it though and got very quickly used to injecting herself. It went away after the baby was born.

WannababyIVF, Congrats on joining the twin club. It's great. I love the fact that I have two and when they start moving..boy, they start moving. Very nice feeling.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Love to all.

Hi guys,

I had my follow-up glucose test and passed with flying colours so no diabetes for me! Feel VERY silly for over-reacting but it was the first thing that has not gone smoothly all pregnancy and I wasn't expecting it.

Laura - Where are you....my gut is telling me that you are having your babies!!!! Is that true? I hope you are alright.

Di - You are also very quiet. I hope its you staudy that keep syou so busy.

Lisa - I'll have to dig out our paperwork on the cord blood bank....I don't remember ours being so expensive. We haven't decided to bank the blood but at the very least we will donate the cord for research if we decided not to. A decision we should probably make very soon, I guess.

Wanna - Try not to overdo it. I used to (and still do) find that my body would let me know if I did too much. It is difficult to cut back on what you would normally do, but essential when you have two onboard!

Well, time for a rest for me.

Hey everyone!!!! Don't mean to not write to everyone tonight but I just wanted to post about our day real quick!
After a little scare regarding contractions (which I had been having for at least a month w/o knowing it  ) I called my OB and had two u/s's today and found out that. . . . .. . . .. it's a boy and a girl!!!!!!!!

We are pregnant with one of each!!!!!!!!! We are over the moon and can't figure out what good deed we did to deserve this wonderful life that we get to share with a baby boy and girl!!!!! The part that is so funny is that baby A is our girl and she has been doing gymnastics since day one with a wild little hb and baby B is the boy and he has been calm and peaceful with a hb like the rhythym to a song. He has also been the stubborn one in our u/s's but when we were looking to see what they were both of them had no problem showing off!

I am on some limited movement now but it's at my discression (sp). We go back on the 29th and we can't wait to see them again!!!

Em~ I am so happy your test went well. You were so disappointed before so I am so happy for you and I know you are going to sleep better tonight! :D

Lisa~ I wish that I could show off the bikini but I'm afraid to go near the drawer that they are even in!!! I doubt I have a top capable of holding these boobs in! Not that a B is a huge but it's twice my normal size!
Congrats to you! THat kidnapping breaks my heart. That little girls looked so sweet and the anguish of her parents is beyond words. I hope they find her soon~

Wannababyivf~ Take it easy!!! It's a long story but I found out today that mine was contractions so be very careful. Sounds like you are doing eveything you can to prevent anything from happening so I hope it continues to go well!

Take care everyone and have a great night and day!!

Em- Your gut was right, I did have my babies on Monday! I had some discharge on Sunday night and thought I might have lost my mucus plug but wasn't sure. I woke up at 1:00 am and my water had broken! I had a c-section at 7:00 am Monday morning.

The babies are a little small. Jeremy was 4lbs 13oz and Nicholas was 4lbs exactly. They are doing well but they have the usual problems you see in near-term infants, can't keep their temperature up, difficulty breathing and eating at the same time, etc. So unfortunately I can't keep them in the room with me. Hopefully they will be out of the NICU in a few days.

I am feeling sorry for myself, that I have two babies and can't have either of them with me, but I know it's only for a little while. I still can't believe they are here! I will post pictures when I can.

Kimberely, I am jumping with joy honey. You must have been a very good girl in a previous life to get the girl/boy. Obviously any baby at all is without a doubt a gift but I secretly want the boy/girl combination.
My two are like yours too. I have one wild super performing one that moves non stop all day long (don't know when its sleeping) and the other one moves maybe 4/5 times a day. They were like that on the scans too.
I wish I knew what mine were but I promised I wouldn't find out but you never know, I just might cave in on my scan in 2 weeks.

LauraLou, Congrats on the beautiful boys. I'm sure your anxious to get them home safe with you. They are good weights though for 2 born so early.

On another note, I have to go back to Ireland next week. My 86 year old mother (she had me at 48) has taken very ill. She was already showing signs of alzeimers and lives completely in the past at the best of times. Luckily when I was there the other week she knew who I was and kept smiling and touching my belly.
Now apparently she keeps telling my sister to call me in for my dinner and that I shouldn't be out at 15 (she doesn't realise I'm 38 and I live in another country). She was taken into hospital because she fell in the shower and because she has osteoperosis, the fall has fractured her spine.
So all 3 out of 8 children that live abroad are coming home next week. The doctors say she is losing will to live and keeps taking about my father that died when I was 12. What's sad is by the time I have these babies she probably won't know who I am anymore, let alone my children. I'm her baby, yet she will never knowingly see mine.

I will make sure that I keep my chin up and look at the positive that I have 2 beautiful babies dancing around inside me and that I have so much to look forward to. I know I have to be strong for them.

Love Lisa XXX

Laura,

Congrats on your baby boys!!! I am sorry that you are feeling down but know that they will be with you soon enough and that they need that extra TLC right now. I love the names that you picked out. My son's name is Nicholas too. Cant wait to see some pictures! Wishing you and your family the best. Please send hugs and kisses to your lil ones for me!

Lisa,

I am sorry about your Mom. I hope you have a good visit with her. As for you not finding out the sex of your babies I give you a lot of credit. I could not deal with that not knowing. I hope you are able to stick it out, but if you cant I totally understand!! LOL!

Karen,

Congrats on your boy and girl!! That is awesome. I was hoping for one of each but as my lil ones are identical that was not possible. So two little boys for me! I am so excited though, but I have to admit I was a little sad as I will never have a daughter now that I am done with the baby making thing. Hopefully there will be granddaughters in my future!!

Hope everyone is doing well. Hope you dont mind me joining this thread now as I am having twins too. I love to read all of your posts. It is great to be able to hear everyone expirences at all different points of a twin pregnancy.

Hi ladies!

Em, congrats on the good glucose test! Yeah! I know it's a relief to have one less thing to worry about.

Kimberly--congrats on the boy and girl! That's my secret wish, too! How are your contractions doing? Do they have you on any meds to relax your uterus? I actually get a weekly shot of projestrone to keep me from going into preterm labor. My RE put me on it early on, just to make sure these babies stayed in and cooked as long as possible. Take it easy...it's way too early for your little ones to arrive.

Laura--CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How are you feeling? You should be very proud of yourself...you made it 35 weeks, which is great! Your little guys are sounding good. Don't worry about them being on the smaller side...they will grow quickly! Are you trying to breastfeed? Just curious as to how that works with the babies still in NICU. Sleep while you can, cause once they come out of NICU, they'll need your attention all the time.
:) Congrats again! I can't wait to see photos.

Lilsa--So sorry to hear about your mom. Alzhemiers is such an ugly disease. I hope you are able to enjoy some moments with your mom when you return to Ireland. At least your babies will help you to have something positive to think of.

As for me, we had an US yesterday. Both babies are looking good...well, for as little as we can actually see of them at this point. They are so smushed in there! Baby A is 4 pounds 4 oz. and Baby B is 3 pounds 12 oz. I'd like to see them pack on a lot more weight, but they are doing well.

Take care girls! Belly rubs to all!

Thanks to everyone for all the sweet words. We really are so happy to be getting a boy and a girl. Just getting two of any sex is amazing after our journey. I feel like we have all been blessed beyond words.

The contractions are still the same but as long as my cervix doesn't change I'm alright. I do plan on cutting my days back from here on out so that I don't get put on bed rest. I'm just happy that everything is fine and the extra monitoring is alright with me!

Laura~ CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I am just thrilled for you and the boys sound like they are doing well for their age. As much as I know you want them with you they will have forever with you soon. Tell DH we are all so happy for the proud daddy as well!

Lisa~ So sorry to hear your mother isn't well. It's in times like this that our strength is really tested and I hope you know we are all here for you whenever you need to talk about it. your family and your mother will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks for the sweet remarks! How cute that our beanies have some similiar personalities. Ours are very much like us so we just get such a laugh! Glad they are both doing so great!

Buckeyegal~ How sweet you got to see you babies yesterday. Couldn't you just stare at them everyday on that screen? Their weights sound
great and I hope they continue to thrive until you have them in your arms!

Erin~ You are always welcome! It's great to see you on here! Hope all is going great! :D

Take care everyone! Have a great night!

Oh My, I don't think a series of posts have evr made me cry as much as these.....where to start?

Lauralou - my cycle buddy! I just KNEW it! Well done you! How amazing that you hae finally got to meet your two angels! They sound perfect. I know how you must be feeling about not having them with you...I haven't had mine yet and already I despair about them being apart from me (DH made the mistake of suggesting boarding shcool the other night and I screamed at him - how dare he consider sending my children away!!!). Don't worry, at the first opportunity they will have you guys all cozy together in your room. I am so incredibly jealous.

Kimberly - Lucky you! One of each is what we are hoping for (will be happy no matter what but a Pidgeon Pair is the perfect outcome isn't it?). reading your post was like reading about my own two....Twin A is active fiesty and a quick heartrate. Twin B is quieter, shyer always has his hand across his face. Congratulations!

Lisa - I am so sorry to hear about your mother. It must be absolutely heartbreaking to not know if she will understand when your children are born. My mother cares for Alzhiemer's patients and I have grown up with her residents. I always found it amazing the things that actually made it through to them and perhaps the birth of your little ones will strike a chord with her.

Kim - I had to convert to kilograms but they sound like a good weight! Not a real big difference between them which is what you want!

Erin - Welcome! Congrats on your two boys! How far along are you?

I have had lots of aches and the Braxton Hicks have stepped up a notch to be uncomfortable and very intense. I am tying myself in knots to know when is it the real thing. I check my pants every 20 minutes for signs of a plug or a leak and I think I am going crazy. I'm just so excited!

WOW so much to catch up on :D

I usually get a notice in my inbox to let me know there are new messages to read and I have not been getting any for the last 2 weeks - I thought there was no news! So I checked today and............lots going on!

LauraLou

BIG BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Those boys are really good weights - hope they are out and rooming in with you soon - that will cheer you up! Love the names.

Kholtan

Good on you - well done - one of each - how exciting! We have one of each two which secretly was what I wanted as this was our first baby together and the last so nice bonus to have one of each. You can seriously start shopping.........although rest might be better from the sound of things.

EM

Glad to hear your test came back good - last thing you want to have to worry about - as if you don't have enough to contend with....I think your are so strong for NOT finding out what the sex of your babies are...although not much more time to go...you are on countdown...yay!

Welcome Erin and congats on your twins :D

Welcome Wannababy you will both find this forum friendly and helpful.

Lisa

Sorry to hear about your mum - must be even harder when you don't live so close. (((HUGS))).

Me

Had a scan at 28 weeks and our boy is 2lb 7oz and our girl 2lb 2 oz. All is well with them and me just the usual aches and pains. Our next scan is on the 24th May so am waiting to see how they have grown. Everthing is looking good so no real news.

Hope I have covered everyone - if not hellooooo

Belly rubs to all

Thank you all for your kind words and congratulations! I am feeling much better as I have been going to the NICU every 3 hrs to feed the babies. They are doing really well and I know they will be home with me soon.

Next to my boys were a set of boy/girl twins born at 25 weeks. They were 1lb 6oz & 1lb 7oz at birth. That made me realize how lucky I really am. The problems we are experiencing are very minor and will resolve themselves in days. I have so much to be grateful for.

We have waited so long and been through so much to have them, I still find it hard to believe they are really here. I can't begin to describe to you how it feels to hold your babies in your arms. And it made me love my husband even more to watch him hold his sons with such love and tenderness in his eyes.
