Newby - 2nd time 'round

Post by Quandong »

Hi All,
I just wanted to join this message baord so that i can share my experiences with other people going through IVF.
We are on our second cycle of IVF. First cycle got 3 embryos but they were not ok to transfer.
That was a huge surprise and letdown as everything had gone so well to that point.
This time i am trying to be positive but i am finding it a little difficult.
I have had 3 miscarriages previously and so i can't help bit feel that things are not going to work out.
I have just started my injections and have my first scan for this cycle in about 2 weeks time.
We haven't told many people that we are having IVF just some family as i don't want to have to tell them that i have had 3 miscarriages and one failed IVF as somehow i feel alike a failure. Sad but true.
Anyway would love to hear from others going through the IVF cycle.
I wish all of you the best of luck with your treatments. :)

Welcome Denise.

I'm sorry to hear about your losses. It's nice to meet you, I'm just sorry its on this message board :( I am starting my second cycle in August after a failed cycle in Jan and a failed FET in April. I can completely understand how you feel about trying to stay positive - it is so hard, and the feeling a failure thing is echoed here too! Most of my friends and family know now and in a way it is kind of easier, because no-one asks:'when are you going to have a baby?'
I just wanted to wish you all the best with this second cycle. Have they changed your protocol this time, as you did not get to transfer stage last time?

Stay in touch

Hi Charlie,
Thank you for your positive words. My doctors haven't changed my treatment i am on exactly what i was on before.
If for some reason it does not work this time i will certainly be asking that question.
I hope that things work out for you when the time comes, the waiting is the worst thing even to start treatment. I just want to fast forward to next week when i have my scan and hopefuilly my transfer and then to the results, having said that that could just be me as i am a little impatient.
I sometimes wish that i had told my friends but now there is no point as we have moved away and although i do see them sometimes it would be difficult to explain why i didn't mention it in the first place.
I guess even now though we don't really want people who we know to know that we are going through it as we feel that they would be asking about the outcome. Maybe this is a self pretection thing :) we have or maybe we are just odd? :)
Why do you have to wait so long before having another cycle?
Keep in touch.
