I was hoping someone could give me advice on relieving some of the side effects of the Terbutaline. I was given a perscription of it because I went into preterm labor. However I have been having the following side effects:
Dizziness
Jumpy/Nervousness
Racing Heart
Unfocused Mind (could also just be the hormones)
Shakes
Chills
I know they are a small price to pay, but I had a really hard time giving myself my Heparin shot this morning because my hands were shaking so bad. Any advice would be welcome since I was told I will be taking it until 36 weeks at the least.
I was on Terbutaline for weeks 29-35. I had the first 3 side effects you listed. They were really bad the first few days, but then diminished after a week. I also found after a week that I didn't need to take as much as prescribed to keep the contractions in check. Strangely, when I went off it at 36 weeks, the contractions stopped all together. I ended up being induced at 38 weeks due to pre-eclampsia (but I don't think that had anything to do with the terbutaline.)
Good luck - Hope you get to feeling better in the next few days.
Thank you sooo much! I hope the same is true for me. I really am not ready for this little one yet and I do not want to risk her health for my comfort. I hope the effects die down a little.
