Okay so as most of you know, I am a wedding planner, I have been for over 12 years - I love it! I love it so much that I wrote a book on how to be a wedding planner, I teach other people how to be a wedding planner - in my almost 13 years, I can tell you that I thought I have been through everything, and by everything I mean EVERYTHING! Until this weekend!
So Friday was the rehearsal, and it went just fine - the mother of the bride was hosting the rehearsal dinner at her house, just a casual dinner, it was lovely! The next morning at 10:30AM I was to pick up the bride at the reception location and bring her to get her hair and makeup done... well at 8AM my cell phone rings and it's the Maid of Honor, she continues to explain to me that after I left the rehearsal dinner the mother of the bride has a stroke and fell down, almost bit her tongue off, and hurt her back really bad - she was ambulanced over to the hospital, and I needed to come up with a plan B for the girls to get ready - since they were going to get ready at the Mother of the Bride's house. (My heart was hurting for the bride, I had no idea what to say to her, except be a friend to her) Soooooooooo.... I make some phone calls and The Paramount Resort down the street (I called in some favors got them a conference room there to get ready at) and called the Maid of Honor and the Bride, the florist and the groom to let them know - everyone was relieved. (Me too!) Well I picked up the bride that morning and she tells me everything, she was a mess - she hadn't slept for one minute that night - I felt so badly for her, I just wanted to hug her and tell her it would all be alright! But I didn't know that. So she put on her big girl pants and got ready for her wedding day. I later got a phone call that her mother was going to be released from the hospital, but couldn't make it to the wedding. The bridal party took pictures, at the Mom's house, and we stalled a while waiting for her mother to get home - and then I was leaving, and the front door opened and in she walked - everyone that was at the house applauded her, I started to weep. I was very emotional! I saw all of the stress in the bride's face just disappear. She was just completely relieved that her mom was home. Her mother didn't make it to the wedding, or the reception. But at least she was okay.
(at the reception the we had set up a s'mores station where you could make your own s'mores! And a Candy Station, where we had these huge apothacary jars filled with Gummy Bears, Lemon Drops, Gum Balls, Licorice, Runts, Skittles, Chocolate Kisses, M&M's, jelly beans, those hard candy sticks, it was awesome! Then the bride had put out these little bags for guests to fill up with whatever they wanted. It was great! She looked beautiful, everything was perfect, except her mommy wasn't there.
