BFP - too early??

Post by HHH »

Hi all! This is my first blog (I've just been a bystander) and thought I really need to join so I can get your opinions and thoughts.

I had a day 5 transfer (2 blast) last Tuesday (May 8 )....and not suppose to get my blood drawn until Thursday. Well the wait was killing me so I just took a test....its POSITIVE. Its a faint line...but its there. Here are a few questions I have:
1. The HCG trigger shot should be out of my system since I had it 14 days ago??
2. I've been a little crampy and have had very light spotting on and off for the past few days. This is normal with IVF and not a bad sign right???
3. How early can you get symptoms...and do you get them sooner if you have twins? I've had extreme fatigue yesterday and today. Also have had a little bit of heartburn. Got a little nauseus earlier today...but only for like 5 minutes.

I'm just scarred....I haven't had a positive pregnancy thing happen in the 4 years of trying and don't know how to react!!!

Congrats! Sounds like you are pregnant!!! The HCG takes about 6-10 days to leave your system; so your faint positive is most likely your embryo(s) making the hcg and not the medication! Cramping and spotting may be implantation cramping/bleeding- but that happens at 6-7 days post retrieval. As for twins, I think it may be too early to tell.

Congrats and keep us updated on your beta!

Thanks for the support. I am concerned about the spotting though. Does anyone else in their 2ww have this? Or any of you ladies pregnant and had spotting for a couple of days?

HPT is positive 14 days after trigger?

It's a tad on the early side to get a positive with the HPT. But that's very late to get a false positive from the trigger shot.

My guess is that you are pregnant, with an exceptionally rapid rise in your hCG (it varies a lot between patients). Sounds like twins!!!

Just a hunch based on scant info, of course.

Freaking out! I've had a positive HPT the past 3 nights....well day 14 after retrieval is today and I do my first beta. However, this morning I have some blood....little more than spotting.....like I'm going to start AF!! Anyone here have AF and still be pregnant?? Or is it that maybe I'm loosing one emby and the other stuck??

Please help!!!!

Okay ladies!! I feel much better from this a.m. The nurse called and said my beta results came back ++++ and that my hcg was 202. She said I could have the spotting from progesterone and they won't have those results until later today.

So does 202 sound pretty good for 4 weeks? Do you think its high enough to think twins??

Hi HHH,
Congratulations on your BFP
Well the beta number does not signify how many are there, you won't come to know until your ist ultrasound. my ist beta # were 242 , 2nd beta# 1362,i thought it to be twins too,but my ist ultrasound showed only one sac. so wait for your ultrasound and good luck

Twins are possible, but now it sounds more like a single to me. Very hard to tell from hCG though. There is some correlation with gestational number (more sacs usually = more hCG), but it can't compete with the ultrasound.

1st Beta - 4 weeks preggo 202

So exciting. The nurse said my doctor may start weening me off progesterone because its high as well.

Anyone think twins???
