Aspirin

Hi girls, me again! Is anyone taking the low dosage of aspirin every day? My consultant told me to carry on taking it until I was 12 weeks pregnant but I can't help worrying about it. I have never been pregnant before and I don't know what to do for the best. Anyone got any advice? Tracey D

ello again What's the asprin for then? I haven't heard of that before. I guess different clinic use different methods - I've having daily injection in the bum of progesterone for the first 12 weeks - would rather pop a pill any day! Sorry, can't help, was just curious to know what they said the asprin was for. Sarah

OOH, I'm curious too. I haven't been given any drugs. I only take thinbgs like paracetamol when I get a headache. Lou XXX

Spoke to my consultant today and she is adamant she wants me to carry on taking it. She has taken it with both of her pregnancies through IVF.Apparently it purifies your blood and the blood supply going to the baby. She said there is definitely no harm to the baby otherwise she would not advise that I do it!!! I do not suggest anyone does this without speaking to their consultant as we are all different and I did start taking it the night after e/t. Blimey it is so confusing all the different hings we get told isn't it? Love Tracey D

hi tracey. just to let you know that my wife is 40 weeks and 5 days pregnant, and she has taken asprin all the way through her pregnancy. asprin thins the blood and lowers the chances of a m/c. so stop worrying and relax. all the best mr & mrs wales..

Tracey and everyone else. I only heard about low dose asprin after our first failed attempt. I started taking it about a month before treatment, 75mg a day, then when I became pregnant dropped to half of that each day then slowly reduced it to nothing by 3mths. It said on the instructions not to take after 4mths, but I guess theres different makes with differing instructions as I've heard other stories (apart from the Wales') of people taking it all the way through with no ill effects, but I guess with all drugs you should really take advice (even though I didn't !) But I'm convinced that it helped me get pregnant in the first place. It thins the blood (its prescribed to people with heart problems, high blood pressure etc) making it easier for the embryo to implant and develop a blood supply and maintain that supply (thus given to women who have suffered miscarriages)If your dr has told you to take it - do so, if they havn't they may be reluctant to do so without a specific reason - I heard that you have to have at least 3 miscarriages before they even test you for the 'sticky blood' syndrome as its commonly called. Hi Tracey

I took low dose aspirin too, started taking it just after ovulation.....only because I had just changed acupuncturists and she told me to take it. She said it decreases chance of miscarriage (she trained with Zita West!). It improves the blood supply to the uterus. Becuase I always got spotting every month before AF was due, I wonder if this was one of the things that made a difference as I got pregnant that month.
I took aspirin for about 10 or 11 weeks I think. she told me to take it for 12 weeks but I'd had my scan by then and felt more relaxed about not taking it.
She tells all her patients to take it.

I am now 20 weeks and it didn't cause me any problems thats for sure.

I don't think a low dose can do any harm.

oh my god, how freaky is that?!
I don't know how that happened!

pregnancy is going great. I can actually see my belly jumping now and I sit there for hours just watching it! I still can't believe I'm pregnant!

Just to let you know that I was on 75mg Asprin all the way through until 37 weeks (I'm now 39+2).
