[i]HELLO

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME I'VE EVER DONE THIS SO STICK WITH ME COZ I DON'T KNOW THE LIGO YET!

ME AND MY HUSBAND HAVE BEEN TTC FOR 6 1/2 YEARS! WE HAVE UNEXPAINED INFERTILITY! (SOMETIME THINK THAT IF WE HAD A REASON WE ARNT ABLE TO GET PREG THEN WE COULD SORT IT OUT!)

WE HAVE BEEN ON THE NHS WAITING LIST FOR 3 YEARS, WHILST ON THE WAITING LIST WE DECIDED TO GO PRIVATE AND HAD ONE IVF CYCLE IE: 14 EGGS RECOVERED - 10 FERTILIZED OF WHICH TWO WERE REPLACED WITH NO JOY!

THEN ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS TWO MORE EMBRYOS WERE REPLACED - AGAIN WITH NO JOY! THE REMAINDING EMPRYOS PERISHED.

WE HAVE NOW REACHED THE TOP OF THE WAITING LIST AND AM WAITING FOR MY PERIOD SO THAT I CAN PHONE UP ON THE FIRST DAY OF MY CYCLE. (SHOULD BE END OF MAY, IF YOU WANT TO BE IVF BUDDIES) WE GET THREE CYCLES ON THE NHS BUT HAVE LOST ONE COZ WE WENT PRIVATE!

ALL MY FAMILY AND FRIEND KNOW THAT WE ARE GOING THROUGH IVF WHICH MOST OF THE TIME IS GOOD BECAUSE THE GIVE YOU LOSTS OF SUPPORT. I TRIED TO KEEP IT SECRET AT FIRST BUT FOUND IT MORE STRESSFULL HIDING THE FACT THAT WE HAD APPOINTMENTS ETC.
I DID FEEL A LITTLE UNDER PRESSURE WHEN THEY ALL WANTED TO KNOW THE RESULTS OF THE CYCLES BUT THEY ONLY CARE THAT WE ARE OK!

HOPE TO BE IVF BUDDIES WITH SOME OF YOU, SO PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH!

Hi there - just joined this site today so also very new...and also still trying to figure out some of the abbreviations!

This is my first posting but I wanted to reply to you as your story sounds very much like ours. We've been trying to start a family for 6 1/2 years. Been on various waiting lists for 5 of those years. Been through 4 failed IUI cycles, plus one cycle that had to be abandoned due to overstimulation.

FINALLY we are at the top of the NHS waiting list - though have been told that regulations changed in Sept 06 so now we only have one shot at this.

Sent period details form back earlier this month and went today for what we thought was pre-treatment appt, only to find it was just a screening appt for some blood tests etc. Will find out tomorrow if we can go ahead this month as planned. Nurse said today not to worry - one month delay isn't much, but to us its a big deal - we've been waiting a very long time for this. I am absolutely terrified that it won't work - can't help it. Unexplained infertility also, so no idea what the problem has been all along. Here's hoping....!!

ok, had a phone call this morning from clinic to confirm blood screen came beack negative, and they have given us a pre-treatment appt for Tues am (29th). Need to pick up drugs and start Synarel same day. Finally we are on the way - feels better at least trying..the waiting game has been really difficult.

Anyone else at the same stage?

Thanks

Hiya Ellie

So sorry i did't reply straight away - been little busy!

what is synarel?

think that you are at similar stage to us! have read your message about flighing during 2ww. (go for it the break will do you good!) we start Buserilin (not sure on spelling!) on the 11/6/07. should, if all goes to plan be having egg ret and replacement early july ish.

6 1/2 years! Not that i'm counting! is a long time! dont you think! hopefully we will be celebrating in our 7th year (seven is ment to be a luck number after all! )

where are you going on holiday? have you booked it yet?
could do with a break to look forward too! it may take your mind off the two week wait a little! the 2ww is the hardest part of all.

how did you go on when you over stimulated? hope you are ok now!

speak to you soon

Hi Nicola

Great to hear from you. Synarel is nafarelin - just like the buserelin, a nasal spray used in the first few weeks. I dislike it more than the injections - bad headaches and it irritates my nose! I have to start puregon in a couple of weeks (maybe you're using Gonal F?), ET scheduled for 5th July, assuming all goes well in the meantime.

I had to go to a family get-together at the weekend with, wait for it, 14 babies/young children. Coincidedntally, dh's ex was there with her new baby, just a few months old. Since our infertility is 'unexplained', we don't know what the problem is or with whom, and I couldn't help torturing myself that if they had stayed together, he might be a father now. I know that's being a bit irrational, but I couldn't help it. Toddlers everywhere and 4 babies under a year was hard to bear. At one stage I was fixing the ponytail/ribbons of a 2 yr old, only to be told by (dh's ex's mother) that it was time I had my own children - that I looked awkward doing it because I clearly wasn't used to it. She didn't intend any offence - in fact would be horrified if she thought she had upset me, but it just goes to show that those blessed with a large family often don't think about other people who don't have it so easy

Hols not yet booked - still trying to figure out whether or not to go. Would love to go to Croatia or Italy, but dh is not convinced that it might be ok, and we're both scared to do anything that might affect our chances.

Trying to keep thinking positively in the meantime, and frantically schedule all upcoming nights out (eg 2 hen nights) before the 2ww, so as not to arouse any suspicion. We also have a wedding during 2ww when I will be driving and I know everyone will think its because I'm pg - I only hope that turns out to be the case!

Take care & good luck

hi

i started phase 2 last friday 22/6/07! i'm on puregon as well.

how are you feeling now? are you on a reduced dose of the nasal spray? i've been having bad headaches as well but they are slightly better now the buserlin has been reduced!

had blood test on sunday and don't have to go back to the clinic until friday. i'm on 300iu a day what about you? last time i'm sure we went back to clinic a lot more??? your only 4 days in front of me have you been back to the clinic yet?

your family get together sounds like hell! it hard to keep a brave face when faced with the interagation squad!

last week we had the inlaws staying at our house. dh sister used to work with me and wanted to show off my 4 month nephew at work. i had the day off to spend time with them however she had loads to do and i ended up staying behind and at a bit of a loose end. before she went off i asked her for some paracetamols for my head ache and told her it was a result of the drugs (she knows about the ivf) however when she took the baby into work she was asked where i was - she told the whole of work that i had a headache because of the treatment for the ivf and because of my hormones! can you beleieve that!

anyway hope your ok!

Omigod, your sister-in-law is WAY out of line there - she has no right to share that information with anyone. Do you know many people from her work? Im not sure how many peopel you have told, but if its only a few (and therefore oyu are keeping this relatively private) then she should feel thoroughly ashamed of herself. I hope you told her so!

I have to go for 2nd scan on 29th - last week Dr just grunted that there was no sign of overstimulation and to carry on as previously instructed. Fortunately not my own Dr - his bedside manner needs working on! So basically no idea how many follicles. I could only see 3, but of course am not qualified to interpret these things - hope its a bit more than that this Friday. I had no blood taken or anything last week, not sure what is involved this time....

I only have 2 clinic visits altogether before EC, unless they feel that another is needed, so not too sure if everything is going according to plan!

Unfortunately no decrease in synarel and headaches really bad - thankfully only a few days of it left! Started on 250iu puregon daily, drecreasing gradually (now on 100iu).

Good luck for Friday - I will be at my clinic same day as you, so will be thinking of you.

i know how you are feeling, headaches come back with a vengance last couple of days. not long now and hopfully it'll all be worth it.

only a few people at work knew, my bosses really because of the time off! my sister in law used to work at the same place as me! she lives in spain now and was over for a vist so havent told her what i think! i'll get over it! think most people have guest that were having problems ttc as weve been married for 8 years in august and people arent asking questions any more (well not to me any way!) one girl asked about it today and i just said that my sister in law has a big mouth and i think she got the message that its not up for conversation! dh thinks its not a bad thing that people know but i would have liked it a little more private!!!

good luck for friday! the clinic havent given me an estimated date for egg collection, so hope to find out more on friday - it'll be next week i think!

think that doctor could have been a little bit more informative with you! i'm sure you'll have loads of V fertile little eggs inside you rght now!

thinking of you too! good luck and hope your feeling better soon!

Hi Nicki

Good luck for tomorrow too - hope everything goes well. I have no idea how things are with me. Feeling a bit bloated and with mild pains in my side so I just hope something is happening. I'm a real worrier and and am now worried that there won't be enough follicles, then that they mightn't get enough eggs, then that they mightn't fertilise....! I just need to chill out a bit I think, but easier said than done. If we find that things are progressing well tomorrw I'll be delighted, but a bit anxious in the meantime.

Hope you are feeling well - also glad the headaches won't be for much longer. I read that pineapple juice and pomegranate juice are good for helping follies - don't know if that is true but have been drinking them anyway. No harm in trying eh?!

best of luck

HIYA ELLIE

HOW DID YOU GO ON TODAY?

WHEN I HAD MY SCAN TODAY THE LADY ASKED IF I WAS FEELING BLOATED, SHE SAID THAT IT WAS A GOOD SIGN!

I HAD ABOUT 24 FOLLICLES (A LOT MORE THAN LAST TIME!) NOT ALL OF THEM WILL HAVE EGGS IN THEM AND A FEW OF THEM NEEDED ANOTHER COUPLE OF DAYS TO CATCH UP TO THE OTHERS! STILL ON 300 IU OF PUREGON AND NEED TO GO BACK ON SUNDAY MORNING FOR ANOTHER SCAN. EC WILL BE SOMETIME NEXT WEEK! REALLY EXCITED NOW BUT DID GET A LITTLE WORRIED THAT ANOTHER COUPLE OF DAYS AT 300 IU WOULD OVER STIMULATE ME - FEEL LIKE MY OVARIES ARE THE SIZE OF ORANGES I'M THAT BLOATED!! HA! HA!

I'M A WORRIER AS WELL. CAN'T THINK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE AT THE MOMENT! EVERY TIME IT COMES INTO MY HEAD I TRY TO THINK ABOUT SOMTHING ELSE BUT I'M RUNNING OUT OF OTHER THINGS TO DISTRACT ME NOW! ITS FUSTRATING ISNT IT!

HOPE YOUR OK??

Hey Nicki!

Sounds like things are going great for you - 24 follicles??!! No wonder you are feeling bloated, but brilliant chances for a good number of eggs. Well done you! Is your ec tomorrow then? Good luck - will be thinking of you.

Had ec this morning and it actually wasn't too bad. They did give me good pain relief which helped a lot, plus having hubby there was great for moral support. They got 12 eggs, which I am pleased about. I really hope we see some fertilisation now.....really worried (again) that there won't be. I'm glad I'm not the only one going insane with all the worrying!!

Assuming everything is ok, ET shceduled for Thursday this week. We may on the same 2ww if all's well with us both! Omigod its getting really exiting now!!

All the very best for tomorrow!!
