Been to see my new GP...and guess what !!!!???? I chose a GP in the practice that has been to London for ivf ( 4 years ago ) and now has 3yr old twins!!!! She was sooooooooooooo helpful and now i am having all my bloods done on the nhs by her. What a relief!!!!!! just need to sort out a private scan by phoning the hospital in Inverness ( an hour away) nearer the time and paying before getting it done. the scan will be to check out my womb lining before ET. I am getting excited now. Blood tests next tuesday and results can take up to 2wks for HIV. then we can go make an appointment in Barcelona. Oh and have still to sort out Adams blood tets etc. Now we know we can get them on NHS it makes life easier.

We also had an in depth discussion about a 2nd opinion on my egg reserve. She can believe at my age that i am only stimming 5 odd follies and i could get higher meds ( 450 gonal). I do have every trust in my last consultant and although i don't have my last fsh i know he took a new more intricat way of measuring egg reserve and it was below 1...we neeed 4 -8 for a cycle of tmt. So i know that another ivf cycle with my own eggs would be difficult. I feel after all the counselling that i have a much better chance with donor eggs. 3% chance verses 45-60%
guess i'd go for donor then!!! don't you agree!

things are finally moving...it's been a year since last ivf and hope this time will be it!

You GP sounds really good and that's great she can really understand you!
And you are decided for donor then!! I am happy for you, and as you said, the chances are so much higher for you to get your lil'one!

Nicki, how was the wedding?? Hope you had fun! I totally agree with you, I have also decided to stop thinking about baby first and that's why this is my last year at IVF. I want my body and my sanity back!!

Kate Trinidad and Tobago sounds like a dream !! I am sure you will enjoy it!

Concerning the adoption, it takes a very long time in France. The interview I am doing now is "only" for the paperwork. After 9 months, we should get the "ok to adopt" paper. Then the real adoption process starts. The lady from the council said we had no chances to adopt in France because DH already has children and anyway, the waiting list is 5 years!! So we will adopt abroad. I dont know how long it will take, I guess it depends where we want to adopt from...

So this is only the first step but I am so happy to have started already! Hopefully I should have the paper begining of next year!

Still have a cold but getting slowly better. I am starting to be heavy in the belly with my eggies! EC will be on wednesday I think, my doc will confirm on Monday.

Jen - its all go go go! Great news that bloods are on nhs, that will save you quite a bit. I'm sure we had to pay about 200 - 300 pounds for blood test when we first went private for investigations. I think you have made the right choice with donor - I would do the same in your position. However no harm done in your fab gp finding out things for you or do you feel now that you have made your decision that you would rather she didn't?? So could Barcelona be in June/ July?? How long will you stay there for? And who will lokk after wee Broc .. bet you'll miss him?! Sorry for all the Q's

Nicki - how was the reception hun? Did you have a few drinks and dance the night away?? Not long til your hols now you wil sooo love Italy, I'd go back in a second

Julie hun how are you feeling? Any symptoms yet? If your gonna feel sick it should start kickin in shortly. I was really lucky - only really felt sick if my blood sugar levels dropped so as soon as I ate I usually felt better. Good excuse huh?

Kate - the holiday sounds wondeful but yeah what will you do if your pg??Good luck with th promotion, sounds a biggy!

I spoke to my clinic today (as buying in extra ampules of donor sperm for future). She told me only 3 of us had success from 8 who were doing donor insems - makes me really sad but I also appreciate how lucky I am. Apparently the ladies who haven't had success are unable to proceed with IVF or more donor isems as clinic have been unable to get sperm from the clinic this time due to the shortage. There are 32 couples on the donor sperm waiting list . It makes me so angry, these law changes. Made by a few people in a suit who have no idea - and don't care - the impact they are having aroud the country on couples suffering from severe male infertility.

Anyway rant over! I am going out for girlie lunch tomorrow with 2 friends to a new restaurant nearby. Today I am chilling and catching up with housework

Lisa, dont get me started on the donor shortage!!! Arghhh!!!

I watched that prog about it, and made me cross, some lucky men with sperm, just think its a laugh!!

I am sure most men who donate have wifes who are all ttc and understand!!

They crappy about those others at your clinics, we have 3 more goes left, and then its game over for us.......... Sad but true!!! The shortage is lower now than this time last year!!

We might be faced with NO sperm, and no babies, we are trying to prepare ourselves now! Its hard!

Hello sorry I am hopeless at adding smilies maybe someone can remind me if there's a quick way to do this when updating the list.

Nicki I know I ended up watching that prog as dh went out to water the garden. Just shows you how many men would continue to donate if anonymous. The nurse at the clinic said yesterday that before the law change, they had a really active donor programme and would carry out 6-7 treatments every weekend whereas now that are lucky if they've been doing that in a month. And of course that is set to get worse. However this is an nhs clinic - I'm sure if you really needed more (altho honey you won't - if I can get BFP with natural IUI you can do it with clomid! - apparently all the other women had ovulation probs as well as the male factor) you could get some privately from somewhere in England even if that meant getting it from a centre more North or South.

I have just been out for a lovely lunch with friends. They sat with a bottle of white wine between them and I sat with my soda and lime. Made up for it with the cheesecake and raspberry compote! I think the bean enjoyed it to as he/she has been kicking goodstyle since I got home!

Nikki - Hope you enjoyed the wedding reception. How you feeling about stuff? Any news on how they are going to deal with the cyst? You are right to be out all the time living live to the full and living for yourself because you are not going to have the time for other stuff when you get your BFP! x

Jen - I am sooo happy for you. You sound so happy in your post. Nice for you to speak to a Dr who does understand you and good news re the blood tests. You are nearly back on the roller coaster ride and your BFP is at the end waiting for you.
Souris - Glad the adoption process is moving for you. Such a long process though!! Will be worth it in the end. Is it your "back up plan". Could you still adopt if you had a child of your own? Hope you are full of health now. Best of luck to you for Weds. Will be thinking of you and praying for lots of eggies!!!!
Kate - Hows you? Hope all ok. Dh's gran being 100!! Wow. And such a holiday to look forward to. How the acupuncture going? Hope it really benefits you and your hectic schedule doesnt ruin the effects!
Gail - Hope you and DH are well and Katie is thriving. Does she get up often in the night of is just once/twice?
As for me I am fine apart from being shattered all the time! I am conscious about my weight too. Was a size 12 in November (10 st 2) and now a size 16 (11st 7). Conscious I am going to put on 2.5 - 3.5 stone on (average friends weight gain) and cannot imagine being 15 stone!! Dont get me wrong I am not worrying about it, am far too hungry for that!! Just hoping I am not the size of a house (or a 5 bed detached!). Still managed to keep under wraps too....Cant wait for scan......ages yet!! Take care all xxxxxxxxxxx

Julie- Weight worries are always there no matter what size you are you always want to weigh less. We woman are unreal that way. If you are worried about your weight are you thinking of breast feeding? My sister did and went from a size 14 to size 10 in 8 months!!!!! Hope you don't get the dreaded morning sickness I had a terrible time with it on both mine, but maybe cause they were ectopics is was increased??? I know i can't wait for your scan either...just to see your own beanie with a heart beat

Lisa good to know your are enjoying Sunday lunches out with just soft drinks. WE are hoping to have initial Barcelona consultation ( 1half hour appointment), sperm ssample and for me a mock ET) the end of June and then they sinc you with a donor using BC pills...depends on her cycle and timing when we go back. They will use Dh's frozen sperm sample for fertilisation and we go for ET i think day 3 and stay for 2 days max before flying home. So very qiuck really ass Kiev we had to have a 2ww there!
broc will need to go into kennels which will make me worry. I am in Glasgow for 5 days the beginning of June and we are thinking of ( instead of me taking him with me) put him in kennels for a night or 2 to try it out.

Anyway on that note i must dash as meeting a friend for lunch and still have to walk Broc !!!!

Hi guys,
it is confirmed, my EC is on wednesday. I will spend the night at the hospital (because I am alone and they dont want me to be home on my own ) , and I will stay in a hotel the night before ET. (I live 2hours away from the hospital and I dont have a car)

So i wont be able to tell you how many eggies I got, but I will post on Friday to tell if I was lucky enough to have some embies put back!

I was also told that I will have to continue 1 injection a day (I will have to find another spot than my belly, because it is getting tender with all the shots) until test date. Apparently it helps implantation... we will see!

So test date is 8 of June, which feels really strange because it is so close to my m/c baby due date...
