IVF 2WW and Feeling Blue

Post by Bunky99 »

Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting here. I just turned 30 this year, been TTC#1 for 5 years, and this is my third IVF attempt (had 1 fresh and 1 frozen cycle before this one). And I gotta tell ya, I am just feeling so depressed after this one. I don't even go for my pg test until Thursday, the 24th, but I just have a feeling what the outcome is going to be. DH does not want me to go through this again if it doesn't work, and I'm not feeling very positive. I had 16 eggs retrieved, 6 fertilized, transferred 2 on Day 3, and had none left to freeze. I was so upset I had none to freeze, especially since last time I was able to freeze 3. I just feel at this point that I will never be a mother, and can't imagine what my life would be like if I couldn't be I had some spotting yesterday (5 days after transfer), I heard that is normal from the PIO shots, but otherwise physically I feel fine, no other symptoms. I guess I just need a little support and some words of encouragement. It's hard to talk to DH about it, he understands as best he can and he tries but he is not feeling what I'm feeling.

Hi everyone can I join over here? God it nice to see other people as crazy as me hanging around waiting LOL. I am going thru the hellish 2ww as well.
Hey Jovi nice to see you over here.!!!!
We transfered 4 total --- 1 grade A 8 cell 1 grade A 7 cell and 1 grade A & 1 grade B 6 cell.
Our 2ww will end with a beta on 5-24. I am going thru the to pee or not to pee. I have had so many cramps and twinges I don't know anymore. I am now going thru the feeling that AF is on her way. I know that I had that with my 2 natural pregnancies but more scared with this being my 3rd IVF attempt.

Bunky99,
I'm sorry you're feeling so down. It sounds like you guys have been through the ringer. I just wanted to send you some positive thoughts. Sometimes we can't come up with them for ourselves, but that's why this site is so great. We can lend them to each other and try to help get us all through this.
1st of all, you your your DH have each other. And that is what is most important. The love you guys have and the lives you guys make together are what you have everyday. We're all trying to for something more, but we shouldn't overlook the wonderful gifts we already been given.
2nd, it ain't over till it's over. and you guys are still so in the game. it doesn't sound like you have any reason to assume things haven't worked out. Spotting can be perfectly normal - it can be related to implantation. So it sounds like its more the fear that's getting to you. And that is totally understandable. But you have to not let it! Just take each day as it comes and don't get ahead of yourself. Don't imagine what you'll do if it doesn't work and don't imagine how happy you'd be if it does. Just live in the day you have. And stay busy. It's too much to deal with otherwise.
And lastly, you are so young. If you guys get to that point, you certainly can and should take some time off, but you have so much time to try again. But that is getting way too far ahead of things. First, you just deal with today. And try not to let the fear and axiety get you down. "Fear and anxiety can be like praying for what you don't want". I wish you all the best! Keep us posted and let us know how you're doing. I'm just starting my 2ww and won't test till the 30th. I may need someone to return the favor, talking me down from the ledge in a few days! Take care.

Bebe,
Thank you so much for all of the positive thoughts when I needed them! You are right the anxiety doesn't help things I know, I need to try and focus on the positive and just give it one day at a time. I will definitely try and do that. I of course tested with an HPT and got a BFN, and I don't even know why I did it, as it's probably too early anyway and just toyed with my emotions more. I wish you all the best with your 2ww! How many IVF's have you done?

My2LnT: 4 embies transfered huh? Well your chances sound very good, I will keep my fingers crossed for you! I kind of wish we had transferred 3 instead of only 2, as I didn't have any left to freeze. Hopefully the 3rd time is the charm for you!

Bunky yeah they let us do 4 this time. If we would have had more embies they were prepared to let us do 3 blasts. But I have done 2 day5 transfers and really wanted to try day3 this time and I guess that was a good thing because of all the hell we went thru just to get to day 3.Thanks for g/l. Wishing you a BFP very soon :)

Well I went out and bought 2 tests - It is really funny the price was DH & my wedding date so crossing fingers that can of may be a good sign. :D

Bunky99 - This is our 1st IVF. I'm 34 and we've been trying for about 2 yrs. No good reason for why things haven't worked - just unexplained infertility. We were thinking would we transfer 2. But we had a setback on day 1 with no fertilization and had to do rescue ICSI. Thankfully 10 of the 17 eggs then did go on to fertilize and we ended up transfering the best 3, since success rates aren't as good with rescue ICSI plus my endometrium was out of sync for the transfer b/c it had to be a day later. We put back a 7c, 6c, and a 5c. I'm hopeful, but nervous. Praying for the little ones to make it. But taking it one day at a time. I have a long way to go with this 2ww.

My2LnT - Hoping you get the BFP with those HPTs!

Ha Steph, you're givin in to the pee sticks!!!! That's ok, I just went out and bought 3 more!!! I'm just picking up a VERY faint line. I've read so much on other forums about evap lines that I'm afraid to trust it. So, I keep testing to see if they get darker. I'm OCD for POAS!!! hehehhehehe

bebe - welcome to the 2ww. Yes, it's hard and seems so long but the busier you can get with a hobby, the easier it will be, I promise. Good Luck? What's your official test date?

Welcome Bunky99!!!! You're off to a good start, you transferred 2, that's good. I've never been able to freeze any. I do good with what I get but it truly only takes 1 with the right timing and God's blessing on it. Feel free to vent all you want here. That's what we're here for.

Ali, thanks for staying with us, we appreciate the PMA. You and Dh should take you a private vacation....

Tenny - how's those reports coming?

Waiting - when's your next beta?

Hello :)
My name is Mary and I'm in the 2ww as well from a FET cycle where we transfered back two awesome blasts - one was already hatching and the other they did assisted hatching on. It's only been one day and I'm already feeling the weight of the 2ww, yuck! My beta is on May 29th but my HPT test day will most likely be next Saturday (I'm a bad girl, I know).
Anyway, I'm 29, ttc #1
I wish the best of luck to everyone!

bebe- thanks I need all the luck I can get.

Jovi - ha ha yeah I had them out in the living room looking to see if the paper said what amount they pick up... Yeah no it was not on there but just seeing them on the table made me have to pee ha ha I told DH I was dying to pee on one now I really think he thinks I'm nuts ---- Ok he knows I am but loves me anyways. LOL But just to make sure I didn't surcome to temptation I had to leave them in the living room. I already said I will tomorrow just to see I will be 11dp3dt if I don't wake up 4 times again like I did last night.. sheww I kept dreaming that I had to go and damn it I woke up and had to go. So if IF I can stay asleep I will test tomorrow. I hope your line is getting darker darker soon. Your test is in 2 days LUCKY YOU.... I do so wish ya a BFP soon.

My2LnT, wow that sounds like a good sign about the pg tests! When are you going to take one? I had a 5 day transfer, a frozen transer, and this round was a 3 day transfer. I had 6 embies but the only transferred 2 and the other 4 didn't make it to freeze, so I really wish I had done 3. Hopefully this is the last time we have to do this!

Bebe, they can't come up with a good reason for our infertility either. Dh had a sperm issue (varicocele), but he had the surgery to correct it and now his cound is up from 11 mil to 50 mil and things are still not working. Out of 16 eggs they ICSI'd half and let the other half try and do their own thing in the dish but none of those really fertilized, even though dh had 100% motility! We can lean on each other for support through this dreadful 2ww!

Jovigal, I LOVE Bon Jovi! Are you a member of the fan club? I am (hee hee). What day are you in the 2WW because I think your faint lines are a very good sign! I have gone through about 6 of them already, dh is going to kill me with all the money I'm spending on these tests! Yes you are right this all also takes God's blessing. I have been praying hard!

Mary, I'm 30 and also TTC #1. I had a frozen transfer before, it was a much easier cycle than the stim cycles. Good luck to you, you're embies sound like they were excellent!

Well I spent about 2 hours this afternoon outside reading a book which I haven't done in a long time and ya know what it totally relaxed me and I felt so good! I think this may be my key to staying busy, 2 hours flew by like nothing, and it was a beautiful day here (Live in the Chicago area). There was a nice breeze and the sun was out and about 72 degrees.

Bunky - Yes, I'm a member of their fan club. That's how I keep up with my boys.... I'll be seeing them very soon (Vegas, here I come, BFP or not)... I'm currently at 8dp3dt and I test Monday at 10dpt. The clinic told me not to test till 12dp3dt if I wasn't coming in for bw. (They didn't realize how controlling I am about this stuff  )

Listen guys, don't spend countless dollars on the hpt. They are very expensive. If you have access to $tree (you know what I mean), they are only a dollar a piece and pick up at 20ml (better than the higher dollar tests). just fyi...
