I was told NO orgasms or sex during the 2ww, but I've heard other doctor's have different opinions. I'm not sure why you can't, but dh and I have been trying to avoid each other as well. :)

The reason they tell u no Orgasms, is because when u do, ur womb contracts and u dont want to rock the boat (so to speak lol)

I would deff avoid it, read a good book lol, or turn ur back to him
I found it difficult on my 2ww also lol and i made my DH promise not to look at me in 'that' way.

Good Luck lol

Hello there,

The reason why you can't have penetration or orgasms during your 2ww is that your uterus contracts while you reach climax. It might impair implantation. Your cervix moves, too, during an orgasm; it kind of pumps the sperm from your vagina inside your uterus, like a little mouth if you will. Penetration can cause your partner's penis to bump against the cervix and, for the same reasons, it might impair implantation.

My doctor, who is internationally reknown for his research in fertility, advises us against intercourse or orgasms (for me) during 2ww. He is absolutely against bed rest and many of the silly restrictions other clinics around the world impose on their patients (like no baths). So if he advises against that, I tend to believe that he's not just being extra cautious; there is a scientific reason.

It's a long time indeed, but what's two weeks in a lifetime? ;)

Have a happy 2ww!

We were advised to not have sex until BT results, on my 3rd cycle we had sex 2 days early ( we did get the dates mixed up... and lets be honest you always want what you cant have), we recieved a BFP and AF arrived the day later... cant help but feel we may have caused this loss, so no sex!!! next time..

Reason given for no sex is as above re:PMApsy and baths or swimming you are move open to get an infection.

Good luck to all you girls here, we are starting again in July!!!

Ann re: baths or swimming; confirmed info with doctor and the only reason you should avoid this is if you have a surgery wound; e.g., if your EC was done with laparoscopy. The nurse at my clinic laughed when I asked her if baths were forbidden after EC; she's been at the fertility clinic for 12 years. The only risk baths represent is if one takes them too hot; one should avoid overheating when pregnant.
