Hi ladies,

Lauralou, Your boys are precious. Jeremy has such long fingers..a pianist I think in the making. I bet it was sad leaving Jeremy behind but he will be home with mummy & daddy real soon.

Em, You keep those legs crossed for another 2 weeks if you can and get loads of bedrest.

Me & hubby went shopping yesterday for the main stuff. I bought the 2 cotbeds, 2 moses baskets & accessories, 1 dresser unit with changer on top, 1 double buggy with accessories. We only intended to have a look in the shop but they were having a sale and no exageration we knocked £832(USD1572) off our original bill. My friend told me that after she had bought all her babies stuff from Mamas & Papas, her bestfriend that is a midwife told her that they have a factory store in the north of England and that they have loads of stuff half price. So yesterday we drove up and boy am I glad we did. My husband is jumping for joy with the savings. All the stuff is gorgeous italian furniture, so well made. I am so excited and it felt really cool as the babies were kicking like mad th whole time I was there. It was like they knew.

Em--How are you? I've read the same thing about diarrhea. Keep us posted as to what's happening. YOur babes may be here really soon! I've had the cramping you mentioned...my doc says it's pressure from the two babies. Especially A...it's head is literally right on my cervix!

Lisa--Way to go with the shopping! I wish we had a store like that near me! It can get so pricey shopping for two. Have fun putting everything together!

I hope the rest of you are doing well. I'm off to nap. I think I did too much yesterday...I feel like I'm in a mad dash to get everything done before the babies arrive. Not that everything will EVER get done! I'm hoping to be a better patient and take it more easy this week.

Hi guys,

Well diarrhoea has stopped and I've had no more real pains so I guess it was another false alarm. I did ring the midwife and she suggested that I ring back and update them in two hours but I felt nothing else so I didn't bother.

I know its early but I was really hoping to have them by today as my brother flies out for "overseas active military service" tomorrow and has a stopover in my city on his way there for 4hrs so it would give him a chance to meet his neices/nephews before he leaves for 6 months. It is going to be such a hard day tomorrow for my parents seeing him go that I thought my babies will take some of the pain away.

Laura - when do you get to take Jeremy home? Give Nicholas a huge cuddle for me!

Jeremy should be coming home tomorrow!!! Assuming everything goes well tonite, we can take him home tomorrow afternoon. I am so happy! I took Nicholas to the peditrician this morning and he is back up to his birth weight, so he is doing really well.

The babies have to eat every 3 hrs because their little tummies only hold an ounce or two of milk at each feeding. It takes about 45 minutes to change Nicholas, get him to eat and burp him. Once Jeremy comes home, it will take about an hour and half to do both of them. That gives me a hour and a half to sleep before it is time to start over again. Thank goodness my mother is helping or I would be completely nuts!

I hope you are all able to keep your babies in as long as possible. I made it 35 weeks and really wish I had been able to hold on a little longer. If I could have made it to my scheduled c-sectiond date, the boys would have been a little bigger and probably wouldn't have needed any time in the NICU. So keep your legs crossed as long as possible!

Laura--I'm so glad Jeremy can come home tomorrow! Yeah! That is great great news! So we should figure on 1 1/2 hours of feeding, changing, and burping each time? Oh boy Oh boy! Wait until they eat even more! Hopefully we can all learn to feed two at a time, then that will help speed things along...I hope!

Em--I'm glad your system has settled down. And you silly thing, you don't REALLY want them to come early...they need to cook cook cook!

As for me, I had a big surprise at the doctor's office today. While my BP and babies' heartbeats were great....I am 80% effaced! I guess Baby A is really putting pressure on my cervix and thinning it out. Luckily I'm not dilated yet, which is good. However, my dr. has now put me on modified bed rest, which means no more work for me. She's allowing me to go in for 1/2 days tomorrow and Thursday to wrap things up with my students. Then I'm home until delivery! Ugh! I'm not a good rester. This is going to be tough. But, I'll do whatever it takes to keep them in a few weeks longer.

Hopeyou all are well! Lube your bellies!

Hello Mommies!

Dh and I had a long weekend at the Oregon Coast and I was starting to have withdrawls from you all! There has been so much that it's hard to keep up up.

Laura~ Congrats on having both boys at home! I'm sure it was heart wrenching to leave one behind. so happy they are both well and side by side now. They are just beautiful and I'm sure you are glowing and grinning beyond the moon! Congrats again!

Buckeyegal~ Glad all is well. 80% is really moving right along. Hopefully the babies will keep cozy and warm a bit longer and the bedrest won't be too hard. It can't be fun but I sure wouldn't mind a dose of it around 3 pm everyday! You don't have long now. I'm getting excited for you!

Em~ Glad your body is getting back on track. You are getting so close as well. Are you getting nervous at all? It's too bad your brother may not see the babies for a matter of months but they must need a little longer in their cozy home. Can't wait to hear about your big day soon.

Lisa~ Sounds like you got an amazing deal on furniture!!! That's what we need. So far I have only purchased the car seats as far as big items go but next week it's nursery time for me. I am staying home and working on my nursery mural all week and hopfully I'll find someone to make the bedding next week as well. I just can't find anything that I love and I have a pretty good idea of what I want so that makes it even harder. You must post pictures as soon as you get yours done! Can't wait to sit in there and just wait for these babies!

We have been pretty mellow around here. Spent a long weekend on the beach and got caught up on my sleep. Took a three hour nap on the beach one day in some pretty miserable weather but boy did it feel good. My contractions have settled way down now that I cut back my work day so that tells me I was working too hard for sure. Bummer but what can you do?
Our anatomy scan is the 29th and we are so excited to see them again. We keep talking about names and can't figure out any we love and want for sure yet. Is anyone elses belly getting huge?? In the last three weeks I have grown and grown and grown!!!! I look pg for sure now and although I have been able to feel the sack move around for a while, finally on Sunday I started to feel kicks and punches. It's so amazing. These two respond to each other when the other moves and it's so fun to know they are alive and moving. Seems so much more real when you can feel them like that.

hope everyone is doing great and all the babies are getting big. I missed you mommies over the weekend!!! Take care and rub the bellies for me!!

Hi guys,

You lot don't know me I am one of next years mums to be - well Nov/Dec any way. I am also having twins and cannot believe my amazing good fortune. I am twelve weeks two days and have just seen my second scan which was fantastic!

I just wondered if you had kept any type of tally as to how many of you are having two boys, one girl one boy, two girls. Am I right in thinking its more likely to have two boys than anything?

I have had one freaky symptom of pregnancy so far and that is my tummy is getting soft dark hair on it. I have read this could be from a boy baby's hormones getting into me?

Am I the only one?

Do I need to hide out on the beach this summer?

I am so excited I really don't care.

Love to you all from the Dec 07 group.

Hi all

Kholtan - Glad you had a good break - sounds like you had plenty of rest too. You will notice the difference in belly size and yes, you will look noticably pregnant. Good luck with your nursery - please post some piccy's :D

Lauralou - you are probably very busy with both of your boys home -woohoo. Hopefully things are not too hectic for you :D

Buckeyegal - how is the resting going - are you getting sick of it yet? Sounds like it will be touch and go with you and Em on who will deliver first :D

Paquita -welcome to our thread :D It is more likely to have a boy and a girl than either two boys or two girls. Good luck with your pregnancy and please keep us updated!

Macca - How are you - is that morning sickness subsided yet?

We had a doctors appointment and scan today and all is looking good - yay! Baby A is around 4lb 5oz and Baby B is 4lb and we are 32 weeks today. We could not see baby A too well today as baby b was in front of his face :D No signs of anything amiss or labour which is really good.

Hello to anyone I have missed and take care all.

Kholtan- Sounds like you had a great trip! I agree, it is so fun when you start to really feel the babies move. It makes it all so real.

Di- Wow, your babies are a really great size. At 32 weeks, yours are almost as big as mine were when they were born at 35 weeks. Unfortunately, my high blood kept mine from growing very much the last few weeks.

Paquita- Welcome! Congrats on having twins. It is such a special experience. As for boys vs. girls, I think it depends on what type of IVF you did. I did ICSI, which I found out later increases the chances of identical twins. I've heard that boys are more common than girls, but I don't know that for sure. With regular IVF, there is a bigger chance of fraternal twins, which can be either girls or boys.

Buckeyegal- Wow, it sounds like you are getting close! I know bedrest is hard but it will be worth it to keep those babies in a few more weeks. Of course, there is only so much you can do. I wasn't dilated at all and then my water just broke. I guess babies will come when they are ready.

Lisa- Congrats on the great deal on furniture. I got mine on sale at Babies-r-us, but it wasn't that nearly that good a deal. My mom says the same thing about Jeremy's fingers. Even though they started out small, I think they are going to be big like their daddy.

Em- I hope you are hanging in there. The last few weeks, I was so miserable. It is hard to get comfortable when you are so big. I kept saying I was so ready for the babies to come. Of course, once they did, I wished they had stayed in a few more weeks. It is a shame that your brother is going to be gone for so long. You will have to send him lots of pictures of his nieces/nephews.

Erin- Thank you for the congrats. We are so thrilled to finally have them both home.

The babies are so cute together. I lay them down in the crib face to face and they reach out and touch each other. Since Nicholas has put on some weight, they are looking so much alike. It is really hard to tell them apart. I can see the difference when they are next to each other, but if I have just one, it is much harder to tell which one he is.

I have to run as it is time to feed the babies again!

Laura--I love hearing that the boys are doing well! I can just picture them lying there together! A friend gave me a tip--I hope your DH doesn't mind--put a little nail polish on one of their toes. That way, you can tell for sure which one you have (if the other one isn't right there to help!). Just a thought. I'm impressed you have time to post updates with the babies there. Good for you! You give me hope! :)

Di--good size on those babies! Mine were about that size a couple of weeks ago. Good girl! Yes, resting is already wearing on me. However, I'm going to go get some movies tomorrow. I try to catch up on reading and sleeping--but it's hard since I'm just so uncomfortable lying down. I'll manage though. I'm NOT going to complain! I'll be begging for this rest in a few weeks, right?

Quita--Congrats! As for the boy/girl thing...I have no idea, as we chose not to find out the sex of our babies. We'll find out soon enough though! good luck to you!

Kimberly--I'm glad you had a nice trip. That sounds like heaven to go to the beach! Keep resting up and keep those contractions away. Good luck at your scan next week. (We're also debating about names...I hope we figure it out soon!)

As for me, I'm officially done with work. 8) No complaints here, as my first graders are squirrelly with spring fever!I go back to the dr. on Tuesday for an NST and another check of my cervix. Hopefully things will stay closed down there!

Hi Guys,

Laura - It must be so amazing to see your babies side by side after such a long journey! How are you feeling after your Caesar? Are you sore/able to do everything you need too, etc? I am so thrilled that you are able to find time in what must be a very hectic day to write to us.

Quita - Being a maths nerd, I can tell you that with fraternal twins the rates of sexes are as follows: Boy/Girl = 50%, Boy/Boy = 25% and Girl/Girl = 25%. With indentical twins its 50/50. I think that the average birth rate of singletons is 105 Boys for every 100 girls so perhaps there is a minutely higher incidence of Boy/Boy twins over Girl/Girl. Sorry, I shall put my pocket protector and calculator away now......

Kim - I hear you on the sleep thing! My doc said not to get to hung up on the sleep at night thing and to nap during the day instead. I am very uncomfortable and so nervous. All I can think of is the babies and labour. I just can't seem to switch off. Every ache I get, I think "is this it?". I am working on relaxation techniques to try and focus on other things but its all consuming isn't it?

Di - Great sizes on the babies! Did you see on one of those current affairs programs the other night the identical twins with the twin to twin transfusion? One was born at 400g and the other was 1.5kg. Both have survived...it was amazing!

Kimberly - Feeling those kicks are amazing....just wait till you see a foot drag across the front of your tummy - it freaks DH out everytime! Glad you had a great break and good that you have cut back at work. I noticed the difference in myself the moment I stopped work too. DH and I have decided to revert back to a name we both like that everyone else hates as our second boys name - Jasper John. I can't explain why love it but we do but everyone we have told HATES it. But we are stuck for a second boys name and then just decided to hell with it - people will just have to get used to it!

Happy Friday everone!

Thankyou everyone,

Its so amazing reading your thread. At twelve weeks I am wondering how they are going to both fit in me unless they both stand up at a right angle!!!
I am only 5ft and was a english size 6-8 american size 2-4. Are there any other shorty ladies out there and how are you coping?

Still beaming about out twelve week scan. Can't believe how lucky we have been!

Em--They're your babies, so YOU and DH get to pick the names! That's what I tell my MIL....she doesn't like some of our names, but I told her, you had your shot at naming two babies. Now it's our shot. Plus, who knows, you might meet your babies and decide on another name altogether! I have a feeling we'll be making a last minute decision on ours.

Quita--Wow, you are tiny! Pre-preggo, I was 5 fout 4 inches, and I was a size 6/8. So, I have some space on ya. I thought for sure that my belly would have to extend WAY OUT to fit two babies, but mine hasn't. Some people are amazed that I can fit two in here! It's amazing how your body and the babies will make everything fit. Enjoy getting bigger!
