Round Ligament Pain

Post by shanny »

Hey girls,

I am 19 weeks along and had a very busy weekend. I was on my feet a lot. My whole pregnancy I have cramped a lot and really have just gotten used to it. I usually get it if I do to much or lift too much. Anyway, when we got home I just knew to rest and take it easy. I did the same on Sunday, but along with the cramps I felt I also felt my cervix cramp. It would do it every once in awhile. By Monday even though I was still taking it easy , my cramps where painful instead of just uncomfotable and I felt a lot of pressure on my cervix.

My body has been very sensative this whole pregnancy and this could just be round ligament pain, but I just don't know if I should be worried. Anyone feel like this ever? I plan on calling my dr., but he doesn't open for another hour or so. Any help would be great!

Hi

I had wierd "feelings" in my cervix last Friday. It drove me mental. I phoned my OB GYN and he called me in for a quick scan. He was making sure that the cervix was still long and closed which thankfully it was. I was glad that I checked otherwise I would have been worried all weekend.

I would definately check with your Dr but it is entirely possible that it is normal stretching pains/ pressure. Let us know how you go!

I am getting some interesting shooting pains down there at the momonent!

Thank you for the reply! I called my dr. and he is moving my ultrasound up a week to Thursday morning. I hate waiting one more day to make sure all is well. I'm hoping it's just the growing pains and I'm just a wimp!

I'm glad you are looking well. Hopefully I will too. Thanks it helps to know someone else is feeling these things too!

Hey Fee

I had my scan and everything looked normal. I must just have a wimpy body! It is good to know I can get on with life, but I guess I will just have to take it easy or I'll have to pay for it later. Thanks for you concern and help. I hope you continue to do well and that your pains stop!

Hi Shanny,
I've been going through the same thing since week 15. I thought I was having braxton hicks contractions - after many tests and u/s check of the cervix, it seems to be round ligament pain (mostly concentrated on my right side). I'm pretty tall so I guess I'm just stretching a lot. I also feel pressure in the cervix sometimes. I had my regular monthly checkup at the OB yesterday and he said round ligament pain can last through month 7.

I now sometimes feel the baby kick me in the cervix area. That's uncomfortable - and scary because I also have placenta previa. I have my 20w u/s on Monday so I'm looking forward to getting some reassurance everything looks good and hopefully, the placenta has moved away from the cervix.

Hang in there!
