Miss Piggy - am back on line, it was a long weekend in the UK. Am off shortly for my next scan - expect to see that baby B hasn't made it (wasn't developing properly at last 7 wk scan) but very much hoping that baby A is looking well. Absolutely terrified in case something has gone wrong, I have two friends who have lost babies at this stage but didn't know until they had a scan. I've had bad dreams the last two nights, I'm not very good with stress!

I'll be in touch when I get back from the hospital.

:D  :D Thirteen Weeks Today :D  :D

Hi Tam are you sure your BMI is really as low as 18 are you very very thin? Just looked it up at even at my height 5ft I would have to UNDER 6 and a half stone to have a BMI of 18.

At 5ft4 youd have to be well well under under 8st 8lb.

I was 7 and half stone which gave me a healthy BIM of 21 before I got pregnant.

How tall are you? I'm sure they must have made a mistake. Also as far as exercise is concerned I have been told by the physio I have been seeing for my dodgy back/leg that as long as you can still hold a conversation the level of exercise is fine. In fact it is good to do gentle exercise.

Pixie

No no dvd offered boo hoo but avery cute scan picture! You wait its fab, you will love it. I haven't made up my mine if I want to know the sex. Maybe later, don't know.

Love the sound of your stinky patch on the babies bums LOL want one of those t shirts!

I read that blocked nose are common with twin pregnancies due to the increased volume of blood. My book said buy a vaperiser as a natural method. And I would say if nothing else works try some acupunture - you never know it might just work!

Tam just read than you are off for scan. Will be thinking of you and will say a little prayer for baby B. xxx

And for me. 13 weeks today yay! Big brother starts tomorrow yay! Not long till Zante yay!

Phew!! All well with baby A - measuring exactly spot on for 9wks and 6 days. We heard the heartbeat and also saw the blood flow from the placenta to the heart with a doppler something! The most amazing thing was that it actually looks like a baby!! It was all curled up and then I think the prodding woke it up and it started wriggling around, its little legs and arms were waving around and it arched its back - unbelievable. We are over the moon, for the first time I really feel that we might be having a baby!

We knew that baby B wasn't going to make it and sure enough the sac was there but squashed up now, the sonograper said that we would be unikely to have a bleed which is a relief. This is sad but actually right from the start she said it didn't look likely to survive and from the 7 wk scan she said it certainly wouldn't so we were prepared.

So now I feel that I can really start to enjoy this! Am sure I'll still feel each twinge but hopefully I'll fret less about them. I have my first apointment in the antenatal department of the hospital I've been referred to this Saturday and I have my 12 week scan booked in there on the 14th. Gosh, I'm a bona fide pregnant person!!

Quita I'm 5ft 8 and I did weigh 55kg, no idea what I weigh now! I don't know how they work out your BMI but the nutrionalist I went to at Zita West (before we knew the problem was due to the operations my DH had as a child) said my BMI was 18 and ideally should be 22 for optimum fertility. Turned out of course that my BMI was nothing to do with the fertility problems, but still, no harm in having all the boxes ticked prior to starting IVF.

Denise, could you change the list so it no longer says I'm expecting twins? Thanks!

Quita, I laughed out loud at your story about the twins. One spinning and the other one sleeping and getting kicked in the head--too funny!

I am fat too. My motto, "i'd rather be pregnant than skinny". I don't care. I am eating and trying to keep my points (ie Weight Watchers!) but I just end up eating 40 more points than I should. Good GRIEF!

Pixiesmom, I had a sinus infection too. I read that if you let your fever get above 102 it can cause brain damage. I freaked out and went to the General Practioner on Friday. He gave me 1500 mg of Amoxicillian 2x daily and said for me to use my Nasonex (steroid spray). No way am I using that steroid - I don't want to even take Sudafed. I have broken down and taken one little Sudafed twice this weekend and I have been taken tylenol and my antibiotic. I worry, but the alternative is far scarier. That being said, I had some spotting on Thursday, I think it is b/c I was checked again on Monday b/c I was cramping. Ob/gyn said to expect it. It only lasted a bit and then was gone and it was brown, so I calmed down.

I had my nuchal today. S/he was soooo cute. Sucking its thumb and looking right at the u/s. One picture of the face is so cute. One picture it appears to be waiving and she wrote above it "hi mom & dad!'. So cute!! Anyway, everything looked normal and believe it or not, they didn't see a subchorionic hemorrage at all. So, I pray that it reabsorbed!

Tams!!! I am so excited for you. That is awesome. Baby A is doing perfectly!! I knew s/he would be!! YIPPEE!! Congratulations!!

Talk to you guys later!

Hi Ladies!

Reward- I'm so happy to hear that your nuchal scan went so well. I have mine on Friday and I'm excited, nervous and anxious all at once. How were you feeling before the scan? I have lost so many of my pregnancy symptoms (fatigue, nausea, etc.) and I've barely gained any weight so I think that I really need this scan to put my mind at ease. So now will you not have another scan until your 20-week?

Tams- So sorry to hear about Baby B. I know you were prepared but I'm sure it's still hard. But I am thrilled to hear that Baby A is doing fantastic. Isn't that the neatest thing to see the blood flowing to the baby?? I saw that at my 8 week scan. The technology they have these days is just amazing!

Quita- Are you and DH thinking you may not find out the sex of the baby? My DH and I have decided we want it to be a surprise. It's so funny when we tell people we are pregnant it's the first thing they ask "When will you know if it's a boy or girl?" and when we say we aren't finding out they look at me like I’m crazy! Have you heard form Chvonne? I was wondering how her scan went yesterday…

Cook- Good luck with your scan tomorrow. I bet you are so excited to see the little ones. They should be quite active by now! Let us know how it goes.

Pixie- How are you feeling? Wish I had a cure for you!! I feel the same way as you about using medicine. But I'm sure some Sudafed once in a while is just fine.

Adamsoa- I eat peanut butter & jelly for lunch every day!! I started because I know we're not supposed to have lunch meat but they taste so good that now I find myself craving them. And I also always look more pregnant at the end of the day. I get all excited with my big belly and then wake up the next morning to see it has deflated and I get upset. I am so ready to pop but so far have only gained 3 pounds.

MissPiggy- Who cares about the weight! You're pregnant and fabulous!!

Well not much to report from me. Just counting down the seconds until our scan on Friday. I am so anxious to see our little baby and know everything is okay. Now that I am feeling better it worries me that something could be wrong but I know it's just my body finally adjusting. They always say you feel so much better once you hit the second trimester and I guess they are right!! I also scheduled an acu appointment tonight to calm my nerves. Is anyone else still doing acupuncture? I think I will make this my last session because I am starting a prenatal yoga class next week and I need to save my money for that!

Pep23, I like you have had a decrease in my sypmtoms. It is weird. All of a sudden on Friday I was nauseaus and then on Saturday I could eat anything I wanted and I did not feel sick, just a little tired. I know that everything is ok, but it is unnerving.

Tams, I am glad to hear that your little one is still fighting, I am sorry about baby B.

Thank you all for your good wishes for baby A!
That scan at 10 wks was a real turning point for me, partly because once you're at 10 wks you're almost through the most dangerous part but I think mostly because it actually looked like a baby!! The fact that it was wriggling and moving it arms and legs made me feel that this really was likely to happen! Miss Piggy, I'm sure you'll find the same next week at your scan. My last scan had been at 7.5 wks and really was nothing more than a blob (no offence little bean!)

Steph, I like the idea of pre-natal yoga, I think there's a class near me which I'll look into, also I'm looking forward to doing a bit of swimming. I have been on a strict no exercise rule because of the previous m/c and earlier bleeding but if at 12wks all looks good I can get a little active. I think this will help give me some energy and also help my back which is always worse when I don't exercise. I don't plan to do anything too hectic though - I don't think I can! I went for a walk the other day and was pooped by the end of it!

Lots of scans coming up - Denise, Pixie and Pep how did they go?! I have a booking in appointment with my antenatal team tomorrow - which I think will just be lots more blood tests. My 12 wk scan isn't until the 14th - seems like forever!

Had my scan this morning and it was so wonderful. The baby was moving all over the place and at one point looked like he/she was waving at us!!

My DH was so cute about the whole thing. Everything the baby would do like cross its feet or put its arm over its eyes he would say "It gets that from me!!" Already such a proud papa!

I can't wait for all of you awaiting scans to have another. The difference between today and 8 weeks was amazing. You will love every second of it.

Have a wonderful weekend all!

So, I have my results back from the nuchal and they are not good. I am not sure what we'll do... I am so far along that she wanted to do the CVS on Monday. I can't make the decisions that would face me as quickly as Monday and there's a higher risk of mc with that test so I made the decision to wait till the Amnio June 25th. Pray that the blood work was just part of that 5% that is incorrect and that my baby will be normal. My measurement for the back of the baby's neck was 1.7 and a second measure was 2. My results were 1 in 130 chance of it having Down's. The worry never ends...

Image Happy Birthday Pixiesmom!!! Image

Hey ladies! Our US went well, we saw both babies and Baby A (who I think is a girl) was head butting the membrane, it almost seemed as though she was trying to pound on the wall, saying, "let me out, let me out!" They kept moving around everytime I started to laugh and I was laughing a lot!

We go in on the 26th for our 3-D US to try to see the genders. I still think it is one of each.

Reward, try not to worry, I know its easier said than done, but that still means you have a less than 1% chance of your baby having downs. Imagine if the odds of IVF working were less than 1%, we'd all be very worried. The majority of people who have a slightly 'high' odds following a nuchal scan have a pefectly healthy baby. A friend of mine was given a 1 in 45 chance and her baby is absolutely fine. I think its a good idea to have the amnio to put your mind at rest, but really try not to think the worst. I know that the next few weeks until you have the results will be stressful, do your best to focus on all the positives.
