How long to avoid Sex?

Post by SATX »

We have recently recieved our BFP, and go for our first sonogram on the 13th of June.

We have avoided sex throughout the whole 2ww and now going on, 4 weeks. Doctor hasnt really spoken to us since the transfer, so we are not really sure, but how long do we have to hold off having sex? Is there any reason sex / orgasm now would cause any harm to the new pregnancy?

Any input would be appreciated :)

My only pregnancy was natural..so maybe it is different if you conceive thru IVF - but with a natural conception, you don't even know that you are in a 2WW - therefore, most likely you are having sex...and doing other things that you might not, had you known you were pregnant! I dont think their is any reason to continue abstaining...but I'm not a Dr. maybe try calling your OBGYN?

Hi, I would not abstain any longer, My husband and I carried on throughout the 2ww and now that I am pregnant we are still continuing, it is important for you to keep a healthy relationship, the embryo is embedded in the uterus, it cannot get damaged through intercourse or orgasm.

I waited 10 weeks (per Dr. orders) before engaging in intercourse with my husband. I was told that following the ER to abstain until further advised. This is because your overies are enlarged due to the horomones you have been given. I had a trans-vaginal ultrasound weekly montitering the size of my overies. Check with your Dr. prior to intercourse to make sure it is safe to do so.
